(Admin code added by Michael - UY384134P)
Hi audiance,
I'm looking for a logo for my venture. I'm a Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Call Center and System Integration consultant/expert with strong skills in project management, process design, people management, analytics and appropriate technology know how.
I have sound experience with CRM systems like Clarify (http://www.amdocs.com/documents/ClarifyCRM4Enterprise.pdf) and Remedy (http://www.remedy.com) as well as some basic knowledge of Siebel (http://www.siebel.com) and help mid-to-large size companies in their CRM and/or call center projects in various aspects like: business case, strategy & vision, requirement gathering, design, test, training, roll-out-support). My focus is more business related although I can do some technical development work (esp. for Remedy) as well.
I offer my work to companies in the following industries:
media, travel/transportation, automotive, telco, utilities
Regarding the logo I'm very open to your suggestions, however there are some limitations or requirements to be considered:
- Name of venture: (Andreas) Manzey
- logo can be part of the name
- logo can be seperated from the name
- not more than two colors (+ white)
- permutations of phones or computers are only allowed if stylized heavly
- '(project) management' and/or 'consulting' could be part of logo
nice to have but not a must:
- (part of) logo should be used ideally instead of a bullet point in powerpoint
The logo will be used alomost everywhere: Web, Letterhead, Business Cards, promo material, probably watermark. Scalability is an issues (even for web/presentation purposes)
I attach great importance to get a logo which reflexts professionalism, reliability, dynamics.
Deadline 31st Dec 2004

Hello
For clarification, is the name "Andreas Manzey" or just "Manzey"?

Hi Tonja,
my complete name is Andreas Manzey. However, for the logo 'Manzey' should be used (or 'Andreas' is much smaller than 'Manzey').
Hope that helps.

Samoyloff,
thanks for posting your draft.
I'd like to see what else comes up. However, this one obviously covers a lot of my thoughts. Could you please post one where the logo and the name have the same size?
Thanks

All,
thanks for the postings so far.
@Samy: the new one looks better to me
@Julie/Jason: I have no clue what your logos express (and I also don't know whether that's a good or bad thing).
@All: Seeing the different styles I'd prefer something 'not round'.
Play around with addtions to 'Manzey' (e.g. Andreas Manzey, Manzey Consulting, Manzey Management, Manzey Management Consulting, Manzey Professional Services or just for the fun of it Manzey Real Estate).
Both, purely the name as well as the addtions could be used for further purposes.
Thanks
Julie

From your brief, I'm assuming that much of what you do deals with working with people--so I've brought that element in here. In addition, I've used the first letter of your last name to create the basic shape of the design.
What do you think?
inspired by the contours of the 'a' and 'm' letter forms

All,
thanks for your postings again. We're moving to the right direction!
Let me comment on the recent postings:
@Julie: The logo with the points looks too 'Chinese' to me. Don't continue on that one. The other one is really nice. Could you do something with the people building the 'M' in order to recognize them a little bit better without getting a touch of 'relationship building'?
@Raja: The 'suitcase' draft is noting I'd vote for. The other ones are quite interesting and smart. Colourwise I don't think that those drafts work on a white sheet of paper or a webpage. Would be good to see something with a white background. Instead of 'AM' for Andreas Manzey, please try 'MC' or 'AMC' for ('Andreas') Manzey Consulting or 'MMC' for 'Manzey Management Consulting'.
@eziey: Thanks for joining the contest. I don't like the greenish type of colour. On the other hand I do appricate the stylished 'M'. Could you amend your draft in a way that the 'M' shows something more of a coordinate plane?
Best,
AlexC

It really becomes a tough decision, I'm sure ;) .
@Alex: Your draft looks too tedious to me.
@Julie: Thanks again. Seeing the new ones I have to admit that I'm not too enthusiastic about the drafts with 'Andreas' on top of 'Manzey' although I'd be really to have logo which allows both, something on top of 'Manzey' and something underneath (e.g. 'Consulting' or a tag line).
@All: I'd prefer to see logos without pastel colours.

All,
thank you very much for your contribution so far. I did an appraisal of all of your logo suggestions last night in order to find out where we are at. I used for that my list of requirements:
- not more than two colours (+white),
- reflects professionalism
- reflects reliability
- reflects dynamics
In each of these categories I allocated up to three points plus one bonus point for covering the 'nice to have' requirement regarding the bullet point in powerpoint (see my initial posting).
During the contest it turned out that a decent b/w of the logo is from interest as well. Thus, I added up to three points for this as well.
Actually, the maximum score is 16. People with a score between 14 and 16 got the rating A. People with a score between 9 and 13 got a B, all others a C. This gives you actually an impression of my intermediate judgement.
Here is the intermediate result list with comments:
Rated as 'A'
@Julie: I like the square logo with the blue and orange/amber. It looks decent as b/w version too.
@eziey: as mentioned earlier, good try. could you develop something which goes in the direction of a coordinate plate. additionally I'd like to see a version which excludes the logo from the name (currently the logo-M is part of the name).
Rated as 'B'
@samoyleff: good draft but it's difficult to use this in a b/w version
@Alex: in general it looks to tedious to me. please spice it up, considering the comments I gave earlier to the audiance.
Rated as 'C':
@Jason: too tedious actually, it doesn't ring a bell. could come up with something different? And please, don't use purple.
@Raja: I'd like to see something with powerful colours (e.g.) using the term 'Manzey Consulting'. see my previous comments to your draft
@mbleigh: the dark green is almost not recognizable. at the first sight I thought it is a one colour logo. apart from that it looks to me like an airplane engine and I can hardly detect the relation to the job I'm doing.
Comments for all of you and all new joiners as well:
I'm usally facilitating the role to be the interface between the business and the technology. This might be something which you gonna use for your further work. In terms of colours I pointed out previously that I don't like pastel colours. Come up with powerful colours. I do like blue, red, black, white, orange/amber, I don't like green, yellow, pink, purple (lists are not complete of course).
It'll be beneficial to have a logo which can be combined purely with the name 'Manzey' as well as a combination with 'Manzey Consuling' (or similar) even in the light of the fact that this gives me the chance to use the logo for special offers or service names as well.
Looking forward to the second part of the contest.
Best

Sorry... Not sure about your comment and what do you mean by coordinate plate...And also not sure When you said try to exclude the symbol from the company name...It is already seperated in my second draft ??

badesalz
12-22-2004, 10:47 AM
@eziey: uups, you're right. Name and logo are seperated. regarding the coorinate plate: i meant coordinate plane, typo :-(
The thing with four quadrants.
@Jason: much better than the first one. could you change the dark green to blue?
Thanks all.
Just J
12-22-2004, 11:35 AM
Here you go, dark blue.
Question...
That last one looked green? It was Pantone Black C.
badesalz
12-22-2004, 11:42 AM
Hi Jason,
yes, it really looked green. The blue one is better but too dark. Do you have 'power' blue in your palette?
Best
Just J
12-22-2004, 12:05 PM
Never heard of "power" blue but I'm assuming it's like a Process blue?
If that's the case I'd rather see the blue with black.

@Jason: have a look at the attached boxes, they're showing some kinds of blue which I like.
please align 'Manzey' and 'Consulting' and stretch 'Consulting that it fits perfectly underneath of 'Manzey'
@Jayson: green is not my colour (as mentioned in previous postings). I assume you've got the colour from Remedy. However, it's not my cup of tea. Additionally you used 'Mansey' instead of 'Manzey'.
I listed a couple of colours which I like earlier in this thread. It's not a complete list but it gives you some guidance. Please make sure that it has a decent look as b/w version as well. Potentially you waive of the colour gradient. The logo-'M' is an idea for sure but could you create another permutation?

info for all:
The font should be a windows font. And after seeing all drafts I appreciate lowercase :)
The colours should be createable via RGB (e.g. in powerpoint).

Thanks for the attachment. That will really help out.
The fonts:
Is there any reason you want to limit yourself in the fonts we use? We always (unless requested otherwise) render our fonts as curves when finished. And since you requested "Windows fonts", do you have a particular font(s) in mind?

Hi Jason,
well, it should be easy to use and applicable almost everywhere. I don't want to have clients running around to download fonts or things like that.
In terms of font favorites, I don't have a complete list. But I like
Arial, Verdana, Tahoma, Trebuchet, Albertus, Berlin Sans FB, Century Gothic, Coderber, Eras Medium, Helvetica, Lucida Sans, Microsoft Sans Serif, Microsoft Reference Sans Serif
Hope that helps.
Best,
Just J
12-23-2004, 07:07 AM
Here you go... Veranda it is :)
I added a blue/gray to compliment the blue a little better than the red I was using (hope that's ok).
Also, colors are now in RGB. Since these are RGB colors, the colors that will be printed will not look like those you see on the screen.

@Jason: already shortlisted ;) However, if you have something in your mind to spice it up a little bit, feel free.
@mbleigh: what a surprise to me. But instead of excitement I'd like to see something which expresses reliablity. Anyhow, this one isn't that bad.
@Julie: wow, you spend again some time to play around with the bits and pieces. The 'm'/'c' permutations are very interesting. I also like the 'redish' you used. Apart from that the draft at the bottom is still my no. one of your creatives, closely followed by the one in the upper right corner.
@Jayson: I'm surprised how good the blue works on the red (#943333) which I've used.
Thanks again for your work.

All,
thanks for the postings. I'm going to decide in the course of Wednesday this week.
The shortlist (in the order of the alphabet):
eziey: Could you add a draft without 'consulting'?
Jason: could you move 'consulting' a little bit upwards, so that it is aligned with the 'y'?
Julie: fine with it
mbleigh: very good idea to add a tagline. I really like the last draft. The only thing I want you to change is the 'dot' in the middle of the two persons. Actually it looks to me like 'to take care about a baby' which isn't bad, but I want to avoid such interpretations.
Samoyloff: i still like the approach but it doesn't work out in black and white. would it be an idea to move the arrow a little bit upwards towards upper right?
Paula: good one in general and I really like it. Could you use colours which fit better?
Best,

All,
attached you can find the last and latest shortlist with four remaining drafts.
A: I decided that this draft is the best one from you. I'd like to see this one in a version which fits to the colour scheme.
B: professional, dynamics, relialbility - all what I want to have. looks fine as b/w version as well
C + D: you're actually in the fight for the pole position
C: with the 'dot' in the middle it looks like 'taking care of a baby', without it, it looks like 'here is something missing'. Any ideas to amend that?
D: That's the one from your drafts which I've shortlisted. I'd like to see a more condense 'manzey' and a aligned 'consulting' in captials.
All: Please bear in mind that the logo should have a decent b/w appearance.
Thank you again for your creative work so far. I'm happy to nominate the winner after this last round of amendments.
