Greetings! (Admin code added by Palmer - G030684W)
I'm looking for a logo for my new dog walking service. I've been running a professional pet sitting service for three years and am now narrowing my focus specificaly to mid-day dog walks and I'm changing my biz name to reflect that. Basically I cater to clients who work 9-5 and want their pooch to get some midday exercise and a potty break.

So the new name is "The Lucky Dog". The logo could have just the name for text, or something to the effect of "A Professional Dog Walking Service" as a tagline. As far as graphics, I'm wide open for ideas, but a few thoughts might be a dog (of course!) or a person walking a dog on a leash. We're partial to beagles if you wanted to go for a particular breed. If you wanted to skip the whole dog/leash thing, another idea would be a pawprint. The current business name that we are transitioning from is "Pawprints Professional Pet Sitters" so a pawprint would offer some kind of continuity for our current clients. Those are just a few thoughts, but I'm wide open to any creative interpretations.

As far as colors, I'm also flexible. Have been using purples and dark blues, but am wide open to whatever works with the design.

Let me know if you have any other questions. How about a deadline of May 28th.

Thanks in advance! B)

Hi BeagleTracy,

Here are a couple ideas, just playing around while on a break! I plan on designing some more later on today and will post them this afternoon. Thanks. Feedback is greatly appreciated! :)

Hi Jackie,
Nice job. I really like # 2 and 3 and the extra punch they have compared to the first one. :)

Tracy, is that what you are looking for? Or did you want something more playful, less corporate?

Thanks, Jackie

Jackie,
Yes, this was along the lines of what I was thinking. I want to convey a professional image, as dog walkers and pet sitters constantly fight the notion that this is a job for the neighborhood kid. So while playful might be ok, I don't want it to be tooo cutesy or cartoony.

Hi Pram,
Of these four, I like the first one the best. The third one doesn't appeal to me much at all. Also, the word "The" must be in front of Lucky Dog. The business name is "The Lucky Dog"

Thanks!

Yeah! Score one for the pet people! My business name is Pawsitronic ;)

Here are a couple of entries that I have developed for you. I chose green as the stand-out color because of its association with luck (and also "nature" for the dog walks) :)

 Wow! You guys rock! Here are my comments so far . . . .

Jackie, I'm loving #002. Could I see it in a few different colors - maybe a cooler color. I seem to have an aversion to orange. Could you also try it without the quotes around and period at the end of the tagline. Just want to see how it looks without them. B)

Ed, I really like #002. :D Could I also see it in a different color?

ElKootcho, I like #03 the best, but something is rubbing me wrong - maybe it's too bold and hard-edged? I don't know, but I like the idea!

Sparkie - love them both! Am more partial to the second one with the wagging tail. Great job!

Victoria - love the beagles! :D

Thanks everyone!

Thanks for the color variations and the new ideas everyone! Lots to think about and I've got them all pinned up on my office wall for gazing at! ;)
Let's see . . .
Sparkie, would you be willing to play around with fonts a bit? I love the design, but something about the font is rubbing me wrong.
Jackie, your latest doesn't do as much for me as the first ones. My favorite right now is 1.2. I like having the tagline a bit more inconspicuous than on 1.1 My husband thought the graphic looked like a magnifying glass  , but I really like it a lot. Do you have any other dog graphics you could throw in the circle just for comparison?
Victoria, I liked your first attempt a bit more than your latest, but again the fonts aren't working for me.

And finally, a question for you all... For my current business I had my biz name and some pawprints embroidered on navy polos. Is it possible to see some of your ideas on a dark background with colors changed accordingly? I'm not really sure if I'm making sense, or if I'm asking for the moon :help: It's just something that occured to me once this ball started rolling, that I'll probably want to get shirts made again, and would probably go with darker colors for the shirt itself.

Thanks so much!

Some other designs...

BeagleTracy
05-19-2003, 08:53 AM
Jackie  I absolutely LOVE the colors! Lime green is one of my favorite colors, along with purple. And I really like the orange and navy combo too. (I know I said earlier I had an aversion to orange - but I do like it a lot with navy). I find the graphic a little hard to read though, especially the dog's snout. It sort of looks like the leash is wrapped aroaund his nose, but then I looked harder and realized it was ALL nose? Hard to tell. I do like the design though too. Maybe with a different graphic and a more formal font? Just thinking out loud . . .
Can you also play around with these colors in your other design (the one with the pawprints and dog in the circle)?
Thanks for all your hard work!

Here are some more variations, using those colors from the last one. #6 is kind of a combination of the first logo and the second one....

Hi Tracy!

Thanks for your feedback! I really appreciate it :) In regards to fonts, what sort of style do you like? Something bold? cartoonish? friendly/fun? conservative? Below are some samples for you to look over. Let me know what sort of style you're looking for, and I'd be happy to oblige your logo request :)

BeagleTracy
05-20-2003, 06:28 AM
Jackie,
Great job! I really like #006 (the last one). Could I also see that in the blue/green combo of #004? (only maybe reversed - with the dog and text in blue and the circle and pawprints in green. Also, can the dog be made a tiny big smaller so he's not rubbing up against the edge of the circle? Could you take the period off the end of the tagline, and try the first letter (a) in lower case as well? :D

Sparkie,
Maybe try the last font in that line of samples. I'm not sure really, maybe the one you started with works best. I just want to see how it looks with a different style. Fun, yet professional?

BeagleTracy ;)

Jackie - looking great! I've decided that I prefer the font of #003 and #004 of your last entry, and other than that the design is great. Now that the dog fits completely in the circle my husband doesn't see the magnifying glass anymore! I can't decide which colors I like best though. No rush, but if you have the time could I see what the orange would look like a little toned down (towards peachy?) and the purple a little darker. :D

Pram - Thanks for the entry. It's not exactly what I'm looking for though. It reminds me a little of school/college shirts.

ElKootcho - I really like the second one (05) with the dog in watermark behind the text! Nice job and thanks for making this harder!! ;) One little nitpicky thing - could you add "a" to the beginning of the tagline so it's "a professional dog walking service" Thanks!

Hello BeagleTracy,
I saw your post in LookThru, asking if I was going to enter your contest.
I've been thinking about it... just couldn't come up with soemthing "new".
Here's my shot. I know you said that breed specifics should show a Beagle.
Now, I don't know if that's because you only walk beagles, so I decided to show a few breeds
and diversify your "Professional Dog Walking Service".
Shown front to back: Chihuahua, English Bull Terrier (my doggie), BEAGLE, Husky and Doberman.
You will notice that they're all walking nicely together ;)

1.1 Shows design in a single colour (with tint screens to add variety).
The dogs are arranged on a slight angle.
1.2 Shows same design as 1.1, but in reverse: to give an idea of how
it may appear stitched in white on a navy sweatshirt... I think you had mentioned
this in an earlier post.
1.3 Single colour design with tint screens -- this time LUCKY GREEN. These
doggies are all on the same plane., they're not on an angle.

Please advise.
Thanks,
Kimber

Hi Kimber - That is GREAT! Thanks for entering. No, we don't only walk beagles. I said we were partial to beagles because that is what we own ourselves. We walk a variety of breeds. So your interpretation of a variety of dogs was great! Just out of curiosity, I'm wondering what it would look like with a different font? I like the one you've used a lot, but was wondering if you had time to show me a few samples with different fonts.

And here's a cute puppy picture of one of our beagles, Chloe. She's about 4 years older than this now, but she's still a looker! B)

some different option for you this weekend.
(I like drawing doggies!)

Hello BeagleTracy.
Here are a few more designs to add to the mix.

1.4 is basically the same as my original entries, just different fonts
2.1 Another single colour design. There is a faint offset 10% tint "shadow" behind the dog.
(Im not sure if that is very visible onscreen.)
3.1 A 2-colour design. All doggies are present, they're just wlking along a "path".
3.2 Another stroll along a path. 2-colours, with a different placement for "The Lucky Dog".

Please advise.
Do you have any fonts you are partial to? I'll try and use them. :)

Well, first let me thank you all for your hard work. It was a really tough choice and I want to give special thanks to Jackie and Kimber who jumped through lots of hoops for me, revising and changing colors, etc. etc.

After much discussion and contemplation, I've decided to go with Elkootcho's design #05 with the dog in watermark behind the name. Nice job! So, now what do we do?

Thanks everyone and I'll be spreading the word!
