View Full Version : [Project Complete] Private Sale Real Estate Logo
(Admin code added by Palmer - FW1859157)
Private Sale Real Estate Logo
Deadline - Jan 4th
Hi Everyone,
I need a logo designed for privatesale.co.nz
Logo Text
privatesale.co.nz
What is Privatesale.co.nz
It is a New Zealand based web business I have just purchased and plan to relaunch with a more professional image. It is a property (residential and businesses) for sale website. It is for people to sell their properties privately online. (I believe americans call is FSOB ie for sale by owner )
Do you have a rough idea of what the new logo should look like?
Not exactly, obviously it must reflect a property/realestate theme, but I am undecided if I would like to brand it with a New Zealand feel ie kiwi or silver fern (NZ recognised symbols) or a generic realestate based theme. I would like logo designers to feel free to base their designs either on a NZ theme (see attached photos as examples of a kiwi/silverfern) or a general real estate "feel".
What 'feel' should the logo convey?
The logo must be very professional looking, but not too slick. Remember the audience...private property sellers who must be convinced that this business is... professional but not corporate, fun but not funny, warm but serious. (Not sure if this makes sense..but i'm just writing down everything I can think of, to help you)
What style should the logo be in?
You guys are the experts but I would like to see some different types of examples ie cartoony, serious, text based, image based etc whatever you think...given the background info I have outlined.
If anybody can design an xp icon like logo...I would be interested to see that.
What colours would you like to use?
Entirely open...up to you guys. I think I will know it when I see it :-)
I'm excited to see what you guys come up with :-)
Thank you,
Dean

Here's a start, let me know what you think.
Thanks mbleigh for your prompt ideas,
I Like the colours (but interested to see others) green is the colour of kiwifruit and black is NZ's colour :-)
Please remove the "real estate" from the logo ie I only need "privatesale.co.nz" for the text.
Although I like the look of the curved text, I am unsure about this in normal use ie flat text is much easier to work with in most designs ( i could be pursuaded, but that's how I understand it)
Great sart...any other ideas?
Cheers
Dean

Not sure I quite understand...you want the ONLY text to be the URL, removing "Private Sale" and "Real Estate"? I can also uncurve the text if you prefer without too much of a headache.
mbleigh
Yes...although the product is private sale real estate, the business is privatesale.co.nz. We don't need to state the obvious. The text can be privatesale with the .co.nz seperate, or all one word ie privatesale.co.nz, but I don't need the words real estate in the logo .
Thanks

Okay, thanks for the clarification. Revision coming shortly.

Straight text with Captain Obvious statement removed :)
Thanks Michael,
Feedback
1. The font doesn't quite seem to fit to me...
2. Looking at the spread out nature of the logo, I am interested in seeing a more box like design ie can fit in a smaller space.
Overall, I quite like this logo...but i'm not sure if it has the 'x-factor' i'm looking for. Its always hard going first, because I want to see at least 4 or 5 logo ideas to compare, but I like your work and look forward to any other ideas you may have.
Dean
Edit:
Actually, looking at it again can you try this for me...
Where you had "private sale" and "real estate" in the first logo, can you put "private" and "sale", change the grean curve under this to a straight line and keep the the "privatesale.co.nz" under this.
Cheers

Another try, this one's squarer-er :)
Thanks Michael,
The font looks much better :-)
Can you try the kiwi as a sillouite (spelling!!) within the house ie like the black and white version. House green, kiwi white or variations of this.
Are there any other designers working Christmas :-) that are able to have a go? I like the also like the work of eziey...are you able to have a shot?
Merry Christmas to all...sorry I have to trouble you on this day, but I am keen to get this logo and move on to the next stage of the site.
Cheers
Dean
To all designers,
I have had to move my deadline date back, due to business pressures (not your worry, I know).
I am hoping I can get some more people trying to come up with a logo for me within this revised timeframe. (I know that you guys prioritise your work based on deadlines).
Anyone able to help over the next couple of days?
Dean
Carl,
Thanks for your design :-)
Feedback
1. While I think this a solid design, It is not quite what I am looking for. I am looking for something a bit more edgy and stylish.
It doesn't have to incorporate the kiwi, but good if you can. Any other ideas?
Cheers
Dean
Here's a starter from MOZ

:)
Moz - Thanks for your design. I like the use of the New Zealand map, unfortunately this logo is too "cliparty" to be considered for our logo, and it doesn't incorporate our text. Any other ideas?
Eziey - I like the stylised house, but the silver fern incorporated into the design looks like a tree behind the house..not the look i'm after.
Guys, I'm sorry I can't be more specific with suggestions on improvements for these logos you have submitted, but I haven't seen anything I think would turn into our logo even with a bit of tweaking.
I don't won't to discourage you, and I am grateful for your submissions fo far...but we haven't found the start of the privatesale.co.nz logo..keep em coming please.
Cheers
Dean
Hi Dean
I threw that together "fishing" to see if the idea would work for you. I'll submit another using the map as my main theme, I'm also going to work in the fern graphic. No Kiwi:eek: yikes that a scary bird! and my attempt to draw one is even more frightning!!!!
Please advise if this would please.
MOZ
Thanks Moz...kiwis aren't that scary ;-)
A bit of trivia for you...did you know that kiwis are the only birds in the world to have their nostrils at the end of their bill? I'm full of useless info :-)

Eziey - I really like the text, good font and distinction between the private and sale is great. Also the text underline and .co.nz postion are good.
The symbol doesn't do it for me, although I like the fern incorporated into the design, I don't like the triangle and things above it, it appears too abstract. I would like the symbol to be more real estate like ie house.
Also, I would like to see some colour variations
Carl - I like the for sale sign, but not the other symbols that it is on. I only need one text slogan ie "privatesale.co.nz", not "private sale" and "privatesale.co.nz".
Also, I would like to see some colour variations
Thanks
Dean

Hello Dean, here's my take on you project:)
Carl - Thanks for the colour variations, but I am sorry this logo is not right for our company. Although, I thought I liked the idea of a for sale sign, it just doesn't seem to work in this logo.
Fabian - Thanks for your design. As I have mentioned to Carl, the kiwi attempts so far are just not up the standard we would expect for our branding. Your design is again too plain for our company.
Guys, if you are going to use a kiwi in the design..please give it some personality/style. The use of a kiwi symbol without some branding/style is not necessary because the domain domain name tells that the brand is NZ. Here is an example of a kiwi with style/branding;
http://www.realmarketing.com.au/nzconzlogo.gif
Please think 'outside the square", this logo does not have to have a kiwi in it, but must reflect the concept of a 'new kid on the block' professional/trustworthy web company that allows NZers to sell their property online.
Dean,
I appreciate your feedback. Thank you.
One thing - as a designer, I work not only on the picture, but also the reasons behind the picture. I have been approaching your logo from the Real Estate standpoint. Thanks for pointing out the web company aspect in your last post.
Real Estate traditionally has been a steady, strong, foundational industry and to convey that in a logo generally requires certain attributes which don't always fall into the stylish or new category.
Icons, colors and general feel of a logo are important "branding" elements and if the mark doesn't fit the philosophies of the industry, it can cause a juxtaposition of ideas which actually can be argued, detract from the company and it's goals.
It is helpful that you posted an example of a logo you like. If you have other examples, that may help us to move more towards what you are looking for. They don't have to be real estate or New Zealand related. Just something to give us a sense of the style you are trying to achieve.
Like they say, if we all liked the same things, the world would be a pretty boring place.
Carl...
Thanks Carl,
I appreciate you taking time to open some dialogue with me. I realise how frustrating it can be to work on a concept behind the scenes and base it on careful research/inspiration/creativity, only to be told by the client..'nah, don't like it', without understanding why it was done that way. I do some design work myself (not logos) and have felt this frustration
All I can say is that I am not looking for an 'ok' logo, I am looking for an outstanding representation of our brand and together we will achieve it.
I will hunt out some designs/styles I like to give you more direction.
Cheers
Dean
Hi Designers,
I have included a few logos that I like for various reasons, hopefully this will help with your creative process and the development of our logo.
Most of these are simple but with a bit of punch to them...
Dean
Edit: I have thought of some idease that may work;
- tie in the online/internet element ie icons of mouse, keyboards, screens etc
- think about the selling aspect of the business ie anybody can sell their own home privately online/ no agents

Hi eziey,
Thanks for your design. I like the use of the real estate symbols, but feel that the use of the silver fern is lost here. I don't think most people (NZers) would know that is a silver fern in your design, so the use of it as a design element is lost. Also, I would be interested to see you use the colour combination of green (lime/bright), grey/silver, black and white in your privatesale.co.nz designs.
How about some ideas without the silver fern, maybe the kiwi or totally different ie the fact the privatesale.co.nz is an online/web based business.
Thanks mate, getting closer each time :-)
Edit: Hey eziey..I like what you just posted for "Online Reputations", that 3d type button with the drop shadow...cool. Can you adapt something like that for privatesale.co.nz?
eziey

:)
eziey,
There is nothing wrong with these logos, unfortunatly they don't have the 'x factor' the logo needs (sorry, I don't know what's missing). They are good..but i'm looking for great!
Did you read the edit I made to my prvious host? I thought the logo you last logo you did for "Online Reputations" had a cool 3d type button affect...what do you think...can something like this be adopted to this design?

Eziey,
I really like the stylised kiwi :-). I think this has potential. Is there a way to incorporate this kiwi with some sort of house/real estate symbol. My concern is that although this brands our company as a kiwi one, it doesn't tie in with the fact that property is what we are about.
These designs are the best yet and I think we are on the right track...what else can you do tying in the kiwi with a property theme?

Dean,
What do most people work for ?
The home with the white picket fence ;)
There's something special about this fence...what do you see ?
Cheers
Fabian
Fabian,
Colours are good, I like the use of the silver fern as a picket fence...great fusion of concepts.
The fonts are too weak for me though, they need more punch, maybe a sans serif font. The logo must also reflect the fact that we are an online company ie the .co.nz must be visable in the logo.
Overall, I think this concept is a good one, but it needs to be polished into a logo with punch...use the house with silver fern fence to try other ideas. Great work, thanks

Dean,
Here's a font update;)
...sorry for forgetting the url bit :banging:
Is this what you had in mind ?
Cheers
Fabian
Fabian - Thanks for a fast revision.
I think the silverfern/house image is too big for the design, I would like to see it a bit smaller and the text is little hard to read. What about private and sale in different colours to distinquish them and make it a bit more readable.
What about giving your silverfern/house a 3D look ie perspective or shadow underneath?...just a thought.
thanks
Dean

Ok,here's some 3D:)
Sorry Mate...I put you on the wrong path...the 3D type look I like is illustrated by this submission by eziey ie
http://www.realmarketing.com.au/onlinereputation3.gif
I really like the 3D type button with the feel that it is sitting on something
I think we have probably gone as far as we can go with this concept. I like it...but I don't think we would choose it. I don't want to waste your time with revisions that won't put the logo into a position to get chosen
Any other ideas...?
Hi Designers,
I have put together some clipart and other graphic bits and pieces that I can see potential in some way for our logo.
I am hoping this will help you in your creative process to brainstorm ideas for us...I know it can sometimes be tough to find the inspiration needed. Please feel free to use elements of these images in your design process for us... or even better use it as a springboard for a totally new and inpired logo for privatesale.co.nz
Thanks
Dean

Putting your house on a pedestal...
Thanks Carl,
This is a good logo... I like the use of perspective for the house. Can you give us a look at the logo with the colour scheme - grey, black, white, lime green
Nice work
Dean
Thanks for the colour changes Carl,
I like this logo, its in the top two so far, but I am still to find the logo that makes me go "wow, that's the one".

concept 3 :D
Fabian...this is good :-)
Definitely the look and feel we are after with the right colours. Can we have a look at this logo with the writing in lowercase? Also, I don't want to spoil it because it is good how it is...but is there anyway to put a little bit of a NZ theme in there??
It may look silly, but can you play around with the green around the house symbol and turn it into a stylised kiwi? Possibly the current design sprouts a beak...???
Good work.

Here you go Dean:)
Mate...you are getting close.
The lowercase text looks good ( I wouldn't mind seeing some other fonts, though).
Now, the kiwi...I think this could work, I feel the design may look better with the kiwi facing the other way ie over the words...try and work on smoothing the kiwi oiut a bit (at the moment it looks like he/she has a hunch back :-). Getting better...keep it going

Note: Designers - End date has gone back to original date ie 4 Jan...still looking for contributions from all designers.

I thought I'd come back with a new concept...what do you think?
Calling all designers...you only have 24 hours to submit your designs for privatesale.co.nz before a winner is chosen.
You could be lucky last..give it a go.
Cheers
Dean
Thank you to all designers who submitted logos, your creative inspiration is amazing.
The winner of the privatesale.co.nz logo is...
Fabian!
This design was chosen because of its versatility and simplicity. It conveys a message of a vibrant but professional company dealing in property, and with a little tweaking it may represent a kiwi.
Thanks fabian please contact me to work on those "tweaks".

G'day mate,
Here i've tryed to address the above,my personal favorite is number 4 as the serif font gives it a classy almost regal look:)
We could always mix n match if you want;)

Thanks Fabian,
I think will do a little tinkering with it myself.
Can you supply me the logo and fonts in illustrator or coreldraw format. (I assume they are vector images).
Can you have the logo without the kiwi on one layer and the one with a kiwi on a seperate layer. The kiwi image seperate also, so that I can tweak it.
Thanks
