After wanting to launch this business for along time, my wife and I are launching Grayhill Goods in the next month....but need our logo ready. To get an idea, we like the overall feel of a rustic store that kind of has a Tommy Bahama feel...or an upscale Orvis. It will specialize in high-quality luxury items....but with a casual feel. Grayhill is the land my wife's home was built on. Here is the basic background:

From 1852 - 1903, the Grayhill Post Office in Tennessee saw thousands of civil war letters - some from young soldiers to their new brides at home, some from wives who were trying to run the family farm as best they could, and some which would never reach their recipients who had died fighting for the country they loved. The post office also saw hundreds of soldiers and families traveling from Nashville to Knoxville who stopped at Grayhill to rest for a moment in the midst of their journey. A few left behind relics of their lives like a once shiny button now tarnished from years of wear.

Generations later, the new residents of Grayhill would find these treasures and by doing so, would see a brief glimpse into the lives of these interesting individuals, so long gone. It is our hope that by sharing our "rare finds from along the way," you will not only see a glimpse of the things we treasure, but that in doing so, you will incorporate these treasures into your own home and share them with those you love for many generations to come.

We love warm, rich, deep colors. Thanks! We're excited! Justin and Rachel.

I believe the best bet for your brand identity is to have an established, rustic feel without being too ostentatious. I think this logo's simplicity is exactly what your company needs. Please let me know what you think.

Thanks to both of you for a nice job. Of the two so far, we both like the first one the best. We like a very earthy design that still gives a relaxed, high-end impression. Thanks for your time. Happy new year.

You're on the right track. This is also a neat look. Possibly a bit difficult to read. We want to really brand our Grayhill Goods name...so think also of how it would look on tee-shirts as a brand. You interest and efforts are more appreciated than you know......Thank you......

Hello Justin and Rachel MOZ is back. This type is very authentic to the period and the area. If you like, the next step is to determine if you want an image or squigly to go with it. PLMK what you think.

MOZ...First of all, thank you for the sincere interest in the project. This business has been a dream of ours and I appreciate your spirit. This is the closest logo so far. We had seen in the Peppertree ad in this forum a logo that had a black sketch of like a big weeping willow like tree that looked really sharp. Something like that, mixed with some edging would look great. Thanks, again, MOZ and all of you who have put your time into this logo.

Hi Guys
Guess what that tree was mine and that client didn't like it! So in a while I'll put it with the type and send it up. Thanks .

Thanks for such quick work. I love the one with the dark black above, but my "focus group" says it looks like there is a monster hidden in there!
:)
Please give some ideas on some other trees or backgrounds. Try whatever you think.
Thanks!

These are looking great. We're on the right track. Keep in mind this being on letterhead, business cards, web banner, and t-shirts. Thanks!

Wow...neat look. Still very close. We are looking for a little larger insignia. We plan to launch a line of shirts with this logo on it. What we invisioned was having the insigina by itself, like the tree. Please try something with the font like MOZ has above, but with a bigger tree or something that would make a good "branding" insignia. Thanks

Hi MOZ here. Question: Which font layout do you like best from me? Straight or stacked? I still have some more ideas. Also what colors?

Hey MOZ! Just like the one that you did toward the top with the script-like style. Maybe one in dark green, chocolate, or black?
Thanks!

I really like that tree, but I just showed it to the group and they all say too big and blotchy. Any bonzai trees or something more abstract...bring em on!
