(Admin code added by Palmer - K549560W)
I am about to launch a spam-blocking service called MailSonar, and I need an eye-catching, professional logo for it.
My concept for the logo was included concentric circles dessiminating from the "i" in "Mail", but I'm open to other ideas as well. (For an example of what I'm referring to, see the iBoost logo at: http://www.iboost.com )
As for colors, keep it simple (blue, red, green...no pastels and no bright colors). Also, the background should be white, again, sort of like the iBoost logo.
Finally, you should be able to provide the finished graphic in both web-ready format (gif or jpg) and in the original format (preferably Adobe Photoshop, but Illustrator is also acceptable).
NOTE: If you cannot work in either Photoshop or Illustrator, please do not bid on this project. I must receive the final version in one of these formats so that I can make any minor modifications myself.
If you have any other questions, let me know.
As always, I look forward to your bids.
-Ryan
Deadline: Wednesday, January 12th (But I may choose a winner before then if I receive a bid that really catches my eye, so the sooner you can post the better.)
let's get the ball rollin:yes:

Good start!
MOZ: I'd like to see you try some color and font variations on this theme. (I'm really not crazy about green, and the second font is definitely out.) I'd also like to see you try having either "Mail" or "Sonar" bold and the other unbold.
QuirkDesign: I like that you've taken a different route on the concentric circles theme...
I definitely prefer the second logo as I'm not all that wild about the line under the words. I'd also like to see you try some different fonts, as this seems a bit bland. You should all try a version without all caps. The sameness of the letter heights seems to remove a lot of the vision interest.
All in all it's a great start. Keep the ideas coming.

Hello MOZ Revisions are in da house!
Color combos are endless, here's a few ideas that might spark. I can also Itailize one side.

Something different? :D

OK, time for more feedback...
QuarkDesign: The font you switched to is an improvement, but I'm still not crazy about it. Your previous font (with the all caps) was a little too heavy, and this one seems a little too light. Something in-between those two would probably be best.
RadicalSEED: I appreciate that you went a different route, but I'm not crazy about to swoop or the orange color. On the bright side, I think you have the best font I've seen so far, so you may want to stick with that and try a different theme that relates more the the "sonar" concept.
MOZ: Wow, that's a lot of combinations...thanks! Now that I look at all these, however, I think I see the problem. The concentric circles seem to dominate the logo a little too much. In fact, it almost makes the "MailSonar" hard to read. I think your best bet is to scale back the rings a bit, and again I point to the logo at the iBoost.com site.
In their logo, the circles done extend below the bottom of the words, and I think that's how it should be. Also, you have the circles so that they're lighter when they're closest to the dot, and then get darker as they go out. I think this should be the exact opposite, so the circles get lighter as they move out.
Finally, the font still doesn't have the right look. You may want to try an all lowercase look and see how that turns out. Also, try puting "sonar" in a color that either contrasts or compliments the color that you choose for the circles. I still don't know what the right combination will be, but stick with the reds, blues and greys.
MyChicken: Thanks for taking a leap and trying something new. Still, like RadicalSEED's entry I'm not sure that the theme really relates well to the overall concept we're going for.
On the bright side, I think you also did a good job with the font selection and I like the way that you customized the dot in the "i". If you can keep the base look while incorporating some of the other elements (i.e. the contentric circles) I think you'll have a strong entry.
Again, thanks everyone for the great entries. We're still not there, but we're definitely getting closer.

I'll give some feedback on the new entries tomorrow after I've had a chance to chat with my partner. In the meantime, I put together a template (very raw, by the way) of the general look we want our website to have:
http://zoomboost.com/home.html
You can see that we'll want to put the winning logo in the place where it currently reads MailSonar, so please keep those proportions in mind. Also, the look of the font is closer to what we want to achieve, so if you can blend that with your current designs I think we'll be a lot closer.
Finally, after looking at all the entries we've pretty much desided that we want to stick with blue as the primary color. (We especially like the blue in the example site, above.)
So, if you created a logo in a different color, we'd really appreciate it if you could try using the colors on our template page. I'm sorry that I didn't get this info to you sooner, but unfortunately I had to see all the "other" colors before we could make an informed decisions.
Again, thanks everyone so much for your hard work. I'll post some additional feedback tomorrow when I've had a little extra rest.

Hi NoDyce,
Here's my humble contribution. It's a two spot color design + black which should make for very economical print reproduction. Below, you can see I've provided you with an enlarged version of the design as well as a smaller version so that you can see how it would look in your web site.
Please let me know what you think. I'll be glad to make any alterations or tweaks you might like to see.
Thank you,
-Dave :D
