Hi All, (Admin code added by Palmer - A095064N)

This is my first time so any help will be welcome. I am starting a new web site selling light bulbs. The name is

Light Bulbs Fast.com

This is a name site and is not working yet. To get an idea of my other sites and what I like I also own,

www.DiscountTrainsOnline.com (http://www.DiscountTrainsOnline.com)
www.Lamps-Lighting.com (http://www.Lamps-Lighting.com)

The new web site will be quite a be smaller then the other 2 (Others have over 50,000 pages).

I thought I would start with a logo and move on to the template later.

I have been thinking about green as the primary color with yellow as the secondary. I normally pick 2 colors and then 3 shades of each color so I do not tend to get too wild or busy with my web sites. If you have a different color idea let me know I am not married to those colors. I actually do not even like green but I thought it was a good fit for a light bulbs site.

The logo will be placed at the top left. That is all I need I do not need letterhead or business card.

It seems like 2 weeks is the common contest time so May 30th is the cut off date.

Any thing else just ask.

Dennis

Designers let's just assume that almost everyones logo will have a lightbulb in it so that element is open game :D

Thanks for the contest Denny. :)

Do you have a set of pixel dimensions that we should adhere to? Or will you be designing the site after the logo is finalized?

I can design around what you come up with but in most cases I think the "header" of a page should not take up more then say 200 pix.

If it was much higher then the "meat" of the page would hardly show.

I am being open minded though so try what you think will look good.

No, I am not really a "fun" kinda guy. I would say that I really would not want a graphic of a light bulb in the logo at all.

Sorry Zoe but thanks for getting something going so quickly

Both ondarox and ElKootcho these are more in line with my thinking.

ondarox - I like it but not the "slogan"

ElKootcho - I do not really like the "yellow glow" and fonts used but the idea is there.

Before I start re-fining any one logo I would know if it is normal to allow these guys plus whomever else to give me more ideas. General layout of the logo and then I can start worrying about fonts and colors down the line.

Is that OK? I would like to see as many "ideas" as possible

You can choose to run it any way you want but It seems to me that giving comments helps the other members get an idea of what you like, and prompting them to enter.

Just my opinion though :)

OK Palmer, thanks for the advice.

As for fonts. I do no like any of the fonts that ElKootcho and ondarox have. I would want bolder thicker fonts on the "Light Bulbs" and an FAST looking font for the word "FAST". WHich I believe they were going for but those I just do not like.

As for Colors I like ondarox as those are the color I personally like but I was thinking of green because a big part of the light bulb business is going to the energy saving compact flourescent and green says "earth friendly" to me.

Please, just try what you will as I do not have a artistic bone in my body. I would like to get ideas on how to layout the wording before getting into the details on easy changes such as colors and fonts.

One other quick note about ondarox. With the words "LIGHTBULBS" all in caps and all run together it maybe harder for a person to just quickly look at it to see what the domain name is.

Thanks!!!!!!!

Dennis

Sparkie - That is not quite what I was thinking but your in the right direction. I would want the user to relize it is a URL so not so much space between the words and it needs a ".com" but those are little things. Over though it really does not appeal to me.

ondarox - Now that is nice!!! fonts, colors everything. I really can not even think of something to make it better

Hey guys!!! It has been a while and no one else has entered.

I would like to see your ideas!!!! I know there is still a lot of time to go but please throw in more ideas.

At first I thought it maybe that I did not make the prize large enough but I see many designs being shown on the other contest that have prizes for less or the same.

If you need more money to make it worth your time let me know and I will consider raising the prize.

ondarox - I like you current design but if you have any others to throw in that would be great.

Come on guys and gals!!

Hi ElKootcho,

Thanks for the new entry. I do like the layout and idea. I am not to shure about the "icon" (arrow in the circle) and do not like the font for the words "lightbulbs"

BUT

I do like the font for FAST (looks fast) and the over all looks like a "lighted sign" and I like that.

ElKootcho - I like the second one (without the circle). At first I was thinking no lightbulb graphic but after seeing your entry I can say I was wrong. I like it. Also the font for the "lightbulbs" is good.

Good work

hi ondarox,

Thanks for the new entry. I still think I like your 1st entry better but I do like this except the light bulbs with legs.

Hi ejlain,

Nice work!! I like the bottom one. I like everything about it. I know that most people reading this contest must think I am an old stick in the mud with no since I design but I like my web sites to look "professional". And that is "my" idea of clean and professional looking.

If you want to try a few more along the line of this one that would be great.

Hi,

We are just about 1 day away from the end of the contest so I thought I would bring you up to date on what I think.

In 1st place is Ejlain for the lastest entry second one from the top. I do have one question. It seemd that there is a "shadow" in the word "Bulbs". Is there? Is the font different then the one above it?

In 2nd place is ondarox for his 2nd entry which I have always liked. If you want to give it one more try to knock Ejlain off the top. I would drop the left side graphic and place a simple yellow bulb there. Drop the slogan and make the font larger and all the words. Really make it stand out.

I will choose the winner Friday afternoon,

Thanks Palmer for having the contest for me,

Dennis
