I am a movie buff, and I must say I just saw probably the best movie I have ever seen to-date.

'Red Dragon' is one of the best movies I have ever laid eyes on, if not THE best. The acting in this movie was by far a notch above most movies I have seen in 23 (almost 24) years of watchin flicks.

100 times better than Silence of the Lambs...WOW is all I can say.

*can ya tell I just watched it?*

I read the book a few years ago, but have never seen the movie. The book was OK, I really didn't like the ending at all (the very end, ending), but I"m not sure if that was put into the movie....

Wow, Sean...
I saw it a little while ago, and I just don't remember it being THAT good.
It was good... really goo even, but I wouldn't give it any raves.

I just saw Catch Me If You Can last night. It was pretty good, too.
I'd recommend it.

I saw Catch Me If You Can over the weekend - wife and I agreed there could have been more explanation of how Frank Abagnale got so good at fooling people. Saw another Tom Hanks movie right afterward - The Road to Perdition. A pretty good movie, IMO.

Didn't see Red Dragon, but laughed uncontrollably at the end of Hannibal (I know - not really a scene where you'd normally laugh), so thinking Red Dragon was maybe more of the same.

Very much looking forward to going to see The Matrix Reloaded.

The last Star trek movie, Generations, may be the worst movie I've seen in a few years. I would swear that whoever was writing the other Star Trek movie scripts turned the writing over to a soccer mom for this one.

I've seen "The Pianist" - http://www.thepianistmovie.com/ and literally I was shocked two days after seeing it.
I realised that the things pictured in the movie happent only 60 years ago. Not even a lifetime... I highly recomand this movie.

I liked both Red Dragon and Catch Me If You Can.

Catch Me If You Can is meant to be based on a true story. But what really happened was that Frank Abagnaile was walking down the street, acting under another name, and then the copper dude just asked him something under the name of Frank, and he replied....

...then realised he'd been caught out. :lol2:

And as for Star Trek: Generations...

Yes, I believe the true story of Catch me if you Can, is in book format.

DO NOT judge Red Dragon based on Hannibal...they are no where near as similar.

Red Dragon is more along the lines of Silence of the Lambs, only MUCH better in my eyes.

If you get the chance, I highly recommend checking it out.

Well, there were other things about Cath Me If You Can, too. Like the peeling of labels - he started doing that in the first scene where his father was accepting some prize, long before he started counterfeiting. And how all of a sudden he knew to tell the girl in the principal's office to fold the note from her parents so it looked authentic. There seemed to be no development of his skills of deception...He was a kid one day, and the next day he was Captain Counterfeit.

And then the final credits where they tell how Frank consults on counterfeiting for millions of dollars per year - seemed like a leap for me.

And they could have further developed Frank's desperation, and need to be caught, as shown by his phonecalls to Handratty at Crhistmas.

(BTW, Plamer - is it possible to get spell checker on this forum? I have no clue if I've spelled counterfeit wrong half a dozen times here...It'd be a nice add-on for the grammatically challenged. :) )

It just seemed like a story that could have been much better with about 10 more minutes of character development in it.

Yes, you spelled counterfeit right. My advice would be to always have http://www.m-w.com open in a seperate window ;)

I think there may have been too much build-up for this move.
The sequel was supposed to be made like 2 summers ago, and people (me) have been looking forward to it for a long time. I'm afraid I'll be diappointed, but I'm probably going to go see it anyways.

I read a review in a paper, and it basically said the movie was rubbish. Of course, you had to notice that the writer had called Neo, Nero. I'm not too sure if I can trust that writer. :P

I haven't heard any reviews from Siskel & Roeper.
I don't put a whole lot of stock into what they say (siskel & Ebert gave Start Wars two thumbs down).
But its interesting to know anyways.

I think Ebert et al are in the movie-makers back pockets. I don't listen to them anymore. at the same time, if renting a DVD and there are NO reviews on it, I know it must be pretty bad...

I think Ebert and Roeper and the movies, gave their rating today for Reloaded on their weekly tv show. The funny thing is, that's the one part of the show I missed <_<

I DID see E&R last night and they both gave it 2 thumbs up.
This is also the first time I've seen any clips from the move.
I think I'm going to see it... I'm such a sucker for special effects.
And, it looks dark... like Gotham City or something, and I kinda go for that crap.

Well... The Matrix Reloaded was a-ok. It is the middle part of a trilogy after all, so it did what it was meant to do, introduce a few new elements and bring the story along. A lot of the special effects were awesome. A theater is the best place for them, really.

Anywho, now I'm all excited about The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (http://www.lxgmovie.com/)! Peta Wilson and Sean Connery. Taken from the graphic novel of the same name by Alan Moore, it should be good. They completely made a new story, so it wouldn't be rehashing the book's story. I hope it is as good as it looks. :D

Hoboy - where to start

Haven't seen Red Dragon - no comment

Saw Matrix Reloaded. I liked it -- quite a bit actually. I think many people forgot that this is the 2nd act to a 3-act play. It's good - but don't assume that it's all easy to digest. I have a few problems with a couple things - but overall a good movie. People generally have a tendency to watch a movie for what they think it is/should be or want it to be -- instead of watching it for what it really is.

imagconstrux -
Catch Me If You Can is a good movie - and yes, there's a book under the same name. I've read it: twice. Everything that confuses you about the movie is stuff they changed from the book causing me to dislike it a bit. Like how he becomes so good at counterfeiting -- he actually starts his obession with forgery because he was girl-crazy and needed a way to afford all his dates - not the ho-hum opportunism you see in the film. Oh, and about the millions he makes per year - that's true too. He does a lot of public and private speaking on the subject - whether you know it or not, speakers make tons of money per speech. (Post-presidency Clinton was pocketing about $100,000 per speech - and about 2 per week. You do the math) I highly recommend reading the book - it's very entertaining.

I don't agree with you about Ebert and Roeper - well, Ebert at least. He's a pulitzer prize winning writer and has a tremendous amount of literary/film experience/background. Reading his personal reviews (http://www.suntimes.com/ebert/ebertser.html) gives you the best insight. I don't always agree with him, but what you can read at that link is a somewhat different perspective than what you see/hear on TV.

My 2 cents :D
