Hello, we are a print tracking software company and we are going to be replacing our flagship software, Print Audit 4, with a new version, Print Audit 5. Print Audit 5 will be a suite of three products called Analysis, Reduction and Recovery. These products will help our clients analyze, reduce and recover their printing costs.
This is our company logo:
http://www.printaudit.com/images/printauditlogo.jpg
Our company logo should form the foundation of the Print Audit 5 logo. Please build onto it without altering the original. The design you add to the logo should symbolize that Print Audit 5 is comprised of three pieces: Analysis, Reduction and Recovery. For example, this could be three puzzle pieces forming a five, but we are definitely open to suggestions here.
In addition to the colors in the original logo, you may use the light blue and yellow from our website, http://www.printaudit.com
Contest closed. Thanks for all your entries.
Thanks,
Trevor

Here's a 'puzzle" concept.

Michael, the squares are a bit simpler than what we are looking for. Maybe you can have 3 pieces that form some kind of a cool shape. It would be good if you could put the words analysis, reduction and recovery on the pieces. But I know that might be hard to do without making the logo huge.
Paula, you have the right idea, but the look of puzzle pieces isn't really working for me. I think it looks a bit odd having the puzzles forming the 5. What if the 3 puzzle pieces formed a shape, like a square, and the 5 was in the middle of that shape.
I would also like to have the words Analysis, Reduction and Recovery included somewhere in the logo.
Thanks.

Thanks for the quick feedback! Here are some alternative puzzle
concepts.

Paula, the cube looks pretty cool, but it doesn't show that Print Audit 5 is a suite of 3 products. The only way a cube would work is if it was split into 3 parts that came together, sort of like a puzzle box. But, it might look a little busy at that point. Any other ideas of how we can do this?

Something similar to your own logo (the P with 3 colors around it) could work...but of course with a 5 instead of the P. The 3 colors would represent the 3 parts of PA5. Not that I want you to copy that or anything, I'm just trying to give you a better idea of what we're going for.
Something like this?
Thanks,Paula

Paula, looking better, but I don't think I like the shape of the 5. Can I see it in some other fonts? Also, the 3 pieces should be more proportional, the 2 side pieces are fine, but the top one is too small.
QuirkDesign, I'd like to see something more high tech. This looks too much like a street sign. Also, I don't like yellow being used so much. I don't mind yellow, but only in splashes.
This is a general comment for everyone out there. It would be good if you could somehow tie the words Analysis, Reduction and Recovery into the 3 pieces we are adding to the logo -- instead of just writing them along the bottom of the logo.
Thanks!

Eziey, thanks for the entry, but I don't think that design fits in with our logo at all.
Paula, something like that, but I liked the puzzle-like shapes in your previous logo better than the pie shaped pieces in this logo. I would also remove the comma and the & from Analyze, Reduce, Recover.

Thanks for the feedback. I thought I'd just post the icon variations, and if you like any of them I can show you what they would look like with your existing logo.

Hello Paula, let me think about these for awhile. I don't mean to pull you off in a bunch of directions, but I'm looking back at some of the 3D ones you made earlier and Design 4 is really cool. I do have a few problems with it though. There are only 2 pieces to the puzzle (there should be 3) and the 5 doesn't stand out enough. Can you think of a way to do it with 3 pieces and maybe make the 5 a little more obvious?
Thanks for all your work so far!

Paula, I like the concept of the 3D puzzle pieces forming a five, but these aren't really doing it for me yet -- they look a little bit too cluttered. Plus, most of them still only have 2 pieces or the top part is much smaller than the other two.
Eziey, much better, but the colors are off. Can you stick to the colors we use on our logo and our website? This logo isn't bad, but don't think it will work for us. I have looked at some of the other logos you've designed on this site and I do like your work, so I'd like to see some other ideas from you.

Eziey, this has potential. I like the look of the two side pieces but not the top shark fin type shape. I would like the see the top piece in some different shapes. Can you think of a way to to have it fit in better with the other pieces and not stick out so much?

Eziey, of those I think I like number 7 the best, but it still needs work. You may have to slice up the two side pieces to make the top one work better.
Paula, going back to the cube you made earlier, would it be possible to have 3 pieces form a 3D cube with a 5 on it?
Thanks.

Eziey, the top piece still doesn't fit in with the other two. The two side ones are forming sort of an oval shape and then the top one is just tacked on. You may have to split them up differently to make it work.
Paula, I don't really like the look of those. Maybe 3D isn't the way to go.
QuirkDesign and mbleigh, let's see some more ideas.
Thanks.

Eziey, that's better but still needs work. The top piece still doesn't work for me, you may have to split the pieces up a different way to make it a little more fluid.
I'm extending the deadline to February 4.

Thanks.

Taldo, not bad, I like the concept, but I don't like solar system look of it. Can you think of a way to tie the pieces together without making them look like planets? Thanks.

Taldo, this is nice, I would leave it as is for now. We're going to be narrowing these down in a few days and then pick the best one by putting it to a vote in our office. So, if you have any other ideas feel free to post those also.

I use coreldraw...but am able to provide it in eps (adobe illustrator compatible) format...
also photoshop....What format do you expect for final?

Actually Corel Draw is perfect, I would like to have it in vector format. We want a few different versions of the logo for use on splash screens. Since it's a suite of 3 products, if people only buy Analysis, the other two pieces (Reduction and Recovery) would be grayed out on the logo. We want the pieces they didn't buy to still be visible, but light gray instead of full color.
So what we will need is:
Analysis full color, with Reduction and Recovery grayed out.
Reduction full color, with Analysis and Recovery grayed out.
Recovery full color, with Analysis and Recovery grayed out.
Analysis and Reduction full color, Recovery grayed out.
Analysis and Recovery full color, Reduction grayed out.
Recovery and Reduction full color, Analysis grayed out.
I would just do one at first so we can establish a look. Hopefully I'm explaining this well.
Thanks.

How's that!

02-11-2005, 09:49 AM
You have the right idea, but the gray is too dark and stands out too much. What if we made the grayed out pieces a very light transparent-like color based on the original pieces. For example, the green Recovery piece would still be green and made very light instead of gray, you may even want to lighten it's boarder, so you can still tell the pieces is there, but it's very subtle.
I think if we do this though we may have to change Reduction to another color instead of gray. How about a light yellow? If possible I would like to keep Reduction gray though, so maybe post it in yellow and gray and I'll see how it looks.

I like the first option, with the yellow. The grayed out pieces look good, but the regular pieces need to stand out a bit more from the grayed ones. I would make the colors a bit darker and reduce the fade in them. Sort of like you have the yellow piece fade from yellow to a lighter yellow, instead of to white. Also I would make the words (Analysis, Reduction and Recovery) a little bit bigger.
