Need a logo design - and later much more, for a new lawn care company in Fort Worth, Texas. Name of the business is Lawn Enforcement and we will offer basic lawn care services - i.e., mowing, fertilization ... and so on. A little about me, I am an ex-cop and that was obviously the influence for the name. Being an ex-cop there is a few elements I would like to see brought into the logo:
1. A sheriff badge (star), or for those of you familiar with the Texas Rangers Badge - that is the style of star I am looking for. 2. Steel blue, green, and silvers are the colors I am looking for - but not limited to. 3. Nothing cartoonish, or cute. 4. Do not want the name of the business to be obscured, make sure it is a strong part of the logo.
Be creative, I have searched this site and are amazed by many of your design - without a doubt an extremely talented group of people. I look forward to your entries, and to working with you. And please ask questions if anything is not clear.
Thanks in advance, I would also like to wrap this contest up by the 25th of January.

The logo will also be used on polo shirts, letterhead, business cards, and truck decaling. Thanks again.

For the first posting, but not really what I am looking for - a little too plain and would be very difficult to read from any distance.

Wow - amazing entries, thanks for the time and effort.
A few changes I would like to see:
Esiey, very cool design but try with all blue letters, green is too difficult to read and see if you can bring out the lettering a bit more. Would also like to see the same design without the grass in the star.
Moz, that design is awesome. Love the dark rustic brown, but lose the basic lawn care and replace with lawn & landscape. Also would like to see enforcement pop out of the star a bit more if possible.
Tonya, thanks for the entry but a little too cartonish for the look I want. Really like to clean, sharp lines - also y'all play with my colors what Moz did with the rustics is kick butt.
Thanks, look forward to seeing the changes and more entries.[B]

Here's some revisions. I left the grass out this time, but it can be in there if you want. Also I added some small stars on the larger version pictured...IMHO I feel that this would work well for you...

Y'all don't make this easy. Thanks for the prompt revisions.
Moz I dig the stars version, try that one with the grass green, and show me a smaller version as well.
Eziey, I like number version 3, please try with some darker versions of the colors.
Thanks.

Moz - go with a darker green for the grass than the green used in your first versions.
Thanks.
Hello. Thank you for your kind words it is appreciated. I darkened the green as requested and sized down 25% and 50% of original. Also please remember that the rust color is a photoshop effect. The design can be other colors too

Moz - I like the darker green much better, just wondering if there was any way to color the grass where it would look more "real", being how "real" the badge looks. Also was wondering how difficult will it be for print companies, as well as my own printer to reproduce that rust look?
Thanks, again.
Good Morning. As for the grass, I can make the grass look real by using a real grass photo. And to achieve the rust effect it just has to be printed in process CMYK, like when you print a color photo. Would you like to see it in any other color combos? red, white &blue? I'll try putting in real grass too and see what it looks like.

Moz -
Yeah try the real grass look, curious to see what that effect looks like. Also try a few different color combinations, go with what you think will look good together keeping in the "steel" or "rustic" themes that I like.
Thanks.

Eziey -
Try that logo with a star and grass, rather than just the grass.
Thanks

Moz - Please increase the size on all of those last entries, the small monitor I am using leaves out the detail.
Eziey - that looks very cool, I like the star in the middle.
Hello I thought they were small too! Here they are as individuals.

Moz - the real grass is wild looking, it isn't like any logo I have ever seen. Again I love the design and for simple printing I would just go with the black and white but my only concern is with a print shop reproducing the look. If I understand your earlier post it is just like printing a color photo - but if I want letterhead or business cards printed with the rust and real grass look will a normal print shop (ie staples, kinkos, online company) be able to do it? Also do you know if the cost of reproduction will be any more than say normal solid colors. Again thanks for your time the entry is fantastic - just thinking about future uses, and of course costs.
Thanks! The logo as it stands with the effects will always have to be printed as a 4 color process. Local print shops will tend to charge more than printers online. It's not a problem recreating the effect. Truck signs? If they print in process that should be ok too! Online printing would be your best way to go. Maybe one of the brokers on DO could advise you further. If you do choose my design I'll help you through it  we'll make it work!!!!

Sounds great - I have done a little research and most online companies offer 4 color printing as almost a standard feature. Thanks for the tip.

Moz with just a few minor, and I do mean minor revisions, you have managed to design an iconic logo for my company and I truely appriciate your work.
Eziey, that last entry did make the thought process a bit tougher you also managed to capture everything I was looking for in a logo. Also thank you for your time and work.
Whoever needs to send the $$$ to Moz, please do so - I take it we change to the revisions forum from here?

Moz - Changes I would like to see:
In the rust make the word lines as clean as possible, it seems as if in later versions as more rust and the real grass was added the word outlines began to bleed into the star. Wondering how in may look to outline the words in very thin black to keep them from bleeding and make it really pop out of the star. Also some of the spacing between letters needs to be adjusted to be consistent, can especially be seen in the big LAWN in the middle of the star.
Thanks again, Lino
One last question - the black and white version is included in the project, correct?

Hey y'all had to through in one last great word for Moz. Not only is his work top notch but he really is a pleasure to work with, I cannot tell you how thrilled I am about this entire process. I have spread the word - designoutpost in the only place to have a logo designed.
Thanks again from a very satisfied customer - and oh yeah MOZ rocks, even if he is a Steelers fan. GO PATS!
