I am looking for a logo for a boutique IT consulting company called Medina Systems. The logo will need to go on business cards, letterhead and our website. In terms of style, it needs to be professional but not necessarily too conservative. Our main focus is providing business intelligence and data mining consulting services to industry, however I would prefer a design that conveys innovation and intelligence rather than a logo too closely aligned with one type of product or service offering. We promote ourselves as specialists in IT optimisation, who apply leading-edge technologies such as data mining to optimising the way in which business run and the way in which business run their IT function.

I am open on colours, but ideally I would like something that translates into greyscale fairly well as we would also like to include this logo on whitepapers and so forth.

Thanks guys. A great first cut.

Eziey: Nice choice of colours. I really like the idea of an icon, but the "swoosh" going across the globe doesn't look quite right to me. Maybe try a variation on this globe theme such as extending the black border further around, or perhaps even something that incorporates the 'M' from Medina as well? If you have any other ideas, please do post them up too.

Mbleigh: Again, a great choice of colours. I like the blue and black. The emphasis on 'Medina' with the larger font works well, but I think the logo is still a little too simple and would prefer to see some sort of icon alongside it. Perhaps something to one side of the company name? Again, if you have any alternative ideas that spring to mind, please post them up as well.

LonelyRabbit: It looks good, but could you try with a different colour scheme. The mustard doesn't work for me. The icon is nice and I think it might work well. The dot above the 'i' makes it seem a bit too busy when alongside the logo though. So perhaps make that the same colour as the rest of the letters in 'Medina'.

I think I am looking for something iconic. It's important to have Medina Systems but if there is an icon alongside it would be perfect. I am open to suggestions on the icon, but some possibilities that spring to mind might be to incorporate the 'M' from Medina, something that implies visionaries, innovation, new ideas, creative thinking, or perhaps something with a more high tech or futuristic theme such the use of binary or something.

Don't you see a hammer that normally used by miner hitting on datas in the logo? Sounds like you just see a globe on that icon...:)
The swoosh outside the globe is there because it represent part of hammer (where we hold it)...Please advise

Ok, when you mention it, I can see it. Without being told though, it would still look like a globe to me :) Is there anything you can do to make the hammer a bit clearer? I like the idea of a hammer hammering away at data though...

Thanks everyone for the entries so far! All are very good and I'll be discussing it with my partners over the next day or so with a view to selecting a final logo by around Wednesday. If there is anyone else who wants to contribute, please do so now and if anyone who has already contributed has any others ideas that they want to throw in, then please feel free to do so, as well.

Thanks everyone for your work. I have really been impressed by the quality of everyone’s ideas and the speed at which you guys work. This certainly won’t be the last time I use this site.

Anyway, after discussions with my partners, we’ve decided that Eziey’s first design best suits our needs. So, congratulations to Eziey and thank you to everyone who took the time to submit their designs. I really do appreciate it.
