[Project Complete] Wrestling 101 Logo (Prize: $150 / Deadline: 31st Jan)

Hey folks,

I’m looking for a new logo for Wrestling 101 (http://www.wrestling101.com/101/) (please note I’ll be doing a new template contest for the site here at DO after the new logo has been chosen)

Prize: $150

Website Name: Wrestling 101

Deadline: 31st January 2005 (might be able to extend it, if need be)

Format: Vector (might be used for tshirts, printing etc)

What I want:

I quite like the current logo and wrestling ring, so something along those lines could be nice, but I’m open to anything really.

Another idea I liked was the image next to the logo in this competition [Image (http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=3005&stc=1)]

You just need to include the name “Wrestling 101” – it does not need to have the .com at the end.

If your going to include an image alongside the logo (which I would prefer), I would appreciate if the winner could send me the image alone in vector format in addition to the logo. (For example on the current site I use the wrestling ring with the logo in the header and on its own at the footer of the page)

What I like:

- Colours
As I mentioned before I’m planning to change the website template anyway, so you don’t need to match it to that…although I am happy with those colours. I wouldn’t want anything too bright.

- Size
I don’t want it too big, something similar to the current size should be fine.

Hey Bill...I prefer the 2nd of the two. Could you make the W a little smaller...but keep it bigger then the other text?

Also as I mentioned in my original post I was hoping for some kind of image/symbol to go with the logo...could you maybe make something with just the W...put it in a square or circle (or anything you can think of). So keep the logo as you've done it (just need the changes from above) plus add an extra image of the W.

What I'm hoping to do is make up a page with all the logo entries from here and let the workers on my site vote on their favourite logo.

Hopefully I'll get some more entries by the deadline! :P

QuirkDesign - Great start, could you do one without the faded look...keep the same colours, just for me to compare the two. Also could you do the "Wrestling 101" text too.

lonelyrabbit - Looks good, only suggestion I can think of is using a capital W. For the tagline you could add "Wrestling news, views and reviews" Although I cant decide if I prefer the red or the black more :)

Aaron - It took a second to work out it was W101 :) I dont really like this compared to the others, I like the Wrestling 101 font, but not the W101 or the green colour.

RadicalSEED - Cool idea, I prefer the 2nd of the two submitted. My only concern would be it might make some people think the site is called "101 Wrestling". You could add something like "Wrestling101.com" under it, but then I dont know if that would take away some of the impact from the logo. But as I said, great idea :)

MyChicken - I prefer the first of the two, would you be able to provide some variations of the colours? I like the red, but am not sure about the grey or blue. I usually go for darker colours, but am open to anything you might suggest. Its a great start as well :)

Fabian - Could you add the tagline under the Wrestling text, and it should be "news, views and reviews". I cant think of anything else to add, good job :)

Aaron - Welcome back Aaron :) Thats better, I dont like the shiny look, could you make it more "normal". Also could you add some colour to the ring pic + maybe change the colour of the 101, just so it stands out more? Its a good start.

shnickerdoodle studios - I like the ring image/wrestler bit, but not the other stuff. Could you separate the "Wrestling 101" text and the image...have them next to each other but not together if you see what I mean. For the font if you could use something more simple, its seems abit crowded. Also there seems to be alot of colours too, maybe stick to just a few, about three? Its a nice logo, just comes across as too busy and not as colourful as some others, even though it does use quite a few colours :)

eziey - Thats better, could you try and add ropes to the two dark sides, as it only looks two sides of the ring has got the ring ropes?

Aaron - Much better, could you make the "Wrest" colour abit lighter and keep it all the same colour...I'm thinking more nearer the red you've used for the "ling"?

Hey all,

Before I announce the winner I just wanted to thank everyone again for taking part. I was worried initially due to the amount of logo competitions running (it seems to get busier and busier each time I comeback!) that I wouldn’t get enough entries or the quality I was after. But you’ve all done an excellent job, I’m really happy with everyones work, so kudos to all.

There can only be one winner, and that is QuirkDesign! It came down to between Quirk and eziey, but Quirk just won it.

QuirkDesign – We’re going to go with version 3, but would it be possible to have the normal version too (number 2), incase I do feel like swapping them over? Also could you change the tagline to “News, Views and Reviews”.

Also would you be able to provide the ring image separately and the text bit separately plus one with them together as they are? I’m going to do a template contest here in a few days so I want the designers to have the option to use them anyway they might prefer.
