Hello, (Admin code added by Palmer - 619954G)

We're looking for a logo for a small software consultancy.

Vinbrooke Ltd is a London based technology consultancy specialising in distributed applications and network infrastructure
for mission critical business systems in sectors such as banking/finance and eBusiness.

We want to keep the company image away from anything that sandboxes it too much but to give more options feel free to use a tag line/slogan such as 'Software Solutions' or something similar.

Our current website can be seen here: Vinbrooke.com (http://vinbrooke.dnsalias.com/PortalCSVS/)
which uses a white/blue/light blue colour scheme but don't feel restricted to that scheme. We may expand on this and go for a template to match/compliment the logo.

Some sites/colour schemes/logos that caught my eye

logo1 (http://www.designoutpost.com/gallery/details.php?image_id=48)
logo2 (http://www.designoutpost.com/gallery/details.php?image_id=46)
logo3 (http://www.designoutpost.com/gallery/details.php?image_id=191)
logo4 (http://24.192.15.159/4fun/silver4.gif)
scheme1 (http://www.pinkhelix.com/clivehughes/aestix/the_hood/index_uk.htm)

The logo should:

be vector based
suit reproduction on stationary with limited colours as well as websites
be professional

The deadline is the 2nd June.

I'll try and provide as much feedback as possible and look forward to seeing your ideas,

Thanks and Good Luck

Ok i'll go first... *tiptoes out and places image down*
Were you looking for some sort of vector graphic alongside text?

Hi Victoria,

Thanks for the quick response. I prefer the first one of the three, it feels 'clean'.

I'd prefer to keep the tag 'Software Solutions' as a less integral part of the logo than in the last two as it' might change in wording and hence length.

I think it would be good to have some kind of slogan having looked at other logos but pulled that one out of the air. We cover integration with existing line of business systems and development of new ones normally as distributed object orientated systems.

If you have any ideas for slogans feel free to try them.

Were you looking for some sort of vector graphic alongside text?

If you mean some kind of abstract, or not so abstract, graphic then yes I think so. The Datawan and Virtual Dynamics logos I picked out use them to good effect.

One logo I saw recently I should have added is http://www.ma-p.com/
The graphic forms a very strong style and would retain it's identity even in B&W.

Hope thats helpful ?

Heres a couple of initial ideas. The secnd would be much cheaper however to reproduce in print (only 3 colours)

Thanks for the ideas!

Victoria
I don't like the magnifying glass, it says 'search site' to me :)

The shapes give something recognisable to the logo as the name alone seems too bare but I'm hoping for someone more symbolic. Something that suggests 'bringing together all the pieces of the puzzle' maybe?

John
The 'paint splash' didn't feel a good fit our target market is fairly 'corporate'
The pentagon was much better, the depth effect was nice
I like the font and the de-emphasis of the slogan looked good

No worries with the printing, I think the second design could be printed with one ink if on white stationary, though the colours might get a little bruised :box: (the grey would be a very light blue)
(can anyone here confirm or correct this?)

The most important aspect of the logo will be the web presence. It does need to be printed, so a logo using full colour images would have to be 'killer' to get away with it, but a few inks would be fine.

If printing one color, it would have no other choice than to be blue. You'd have to go 2 color to get grey and blue.

Ok, Here is my first try for your logo. Tell me what you think !

- Vector Based
- Limited colors
- The icon represent the centralisation, network, solutions for efficient connections etc...

Hello,

Firstly, thanks for all the excellent ideas - I looked at these quickly this morning and have given each one some serious thought accross the day:

ElKootcho
Thanks for the reply - I'm fairly happy with using a few inks I think but have been pursuaded to give priority to the online image.

Ejlian
1: I like this one, but not the mustard colour. The fonts are good giving a nice feel to the logo.
The second one is interesting. The text style isn't as good as the first but the 'wings' work quite
well.
The third one works well but I'm distracted by the image of someone reading the paper. I'm not
sure what to suggest with that, decapitation perhaps :) What do you think?

Axdenied
I'm worried it's too like a games company logo but like the logo in any case - I like the font choice,
think the tag 'business solutions' is good.
If it's possible to make the star more 'technical' I'd be pleased.
Also I wondered if shortening the tag to 'business solutions' and putting it near the vinbrooke
(possibly losing ltd in the process) would improve or ruin the feel.

Ondarox
I really like the notes you put on your concepts :)
I like the upper one and can't think of anything much I would vary in terms of design.
I thought about fading the reflected V out or maybe a ripple effect as if on water?

The second one is great, I immediately thought about putting 'the missing piece' into the gap, and
wondered if putting another V but in blue into the gap would be a good thing to do - Vinbrooke being the last piece of the puzzle ;)

Both of the slogans seemed money oriented. Although obviously the point of a business I feel we should be emphasising what Vinbrooke can do for its clients.

Victoria
The slogan is too long and so doesn't look good. The puzzle pieces are OK, I was going to suggest having thee pieces joined in one color and then a forth in the other colour but I have a nagging feeling I'm copying some Microsoft icon in doing so (office maybe?)

The second one is much better. I feel the image needs more detail, perhaps just flipping the colour of the slice or the rest of the circle would be enough or sectioning the circle.

Thanks to you both for the new designs...

jmberra22
The V in the first one doesn't look straight and I don't like the appearence this gives.
The second design is better but didn't feel cohesive.

victoria
more colour is better but still feels a little flat

Hi axdenied,

The new design used in no 5 & 6 is great  I played around with colours for no 6, my favourite was: <img src='http://vinbrooke.dnsalias.com/variation.gif[/img]

I guess if we go with this design I would want to change the colours to match this.

The box on numbers 3 & 4 looks better as well, I prefer the two colour version of no 4 - good work.

I would like to thank everyone who has sent along a design so far - I'm very impressed with the quality of the ideas.

Hello Vinbrooke,

The Designs are in vector format and the colors can be changed in two seconds. No problem.

Here it is with the colors you used. By the way it's a good choice

Let me know if you need anything else modified in the design.

Hi

axdenied - thanks for the update

Victoria - it is sort of less flat, but not really what I had in mind :(

Elkootcho - It's not compatable with the image we're trying to project, sorry, but it would look great on Harley online shop :) Bonus points for originality B)

jmberra - good one  I can picture it on a letterhead looking good

Victoria

Do you want a more 3d look? Or am I totally going in the wrong direction? :(

Hi Victoria

The modifications you've made have each been an improvement, but the design doesn't grab the attention enough in the end. It's probably a better idea to go for different ideas that tweak this one further as I've seen many great designs of yours - the bluefox labs logo was a good one BTW :)

Hello,

Thanks to ElKootcho and Victoria for thier latest designs. I've taken all of the designs and we're going to have a vote on it. I'll check back a little later just before we vote on it in case of any late submissions but in the meantime would like to thank you all for such excellent work

Hi,

Victoria, I picked up the new entry - thanks!

I've placed all the designs onto our intranet and I'm asking for some opinions on them. I
I'll post back later with the winner - please bear with me though, it might be fairly late (UK time at least).

I probably shouldn't have chosen a Monday as everyone is a little stressed out

Hi,

That was a very tough decision but we've come up with a winner: axdenied :king:

There was a fair split of opinion (:box:) across jmberra's 'shallow V on blue', elkootcho's 'orange triangle in v', Victoria's 'flower' and ondarox's 'circle of vs' but this one just pipped the post by being in most peoples top three.

My Thanks go to all those who submitted an entry

Hopefully we'll be able to put forward some of our clients logos, templates and other graphics in the near future.

I know the answer already but it seems to have become a tradition around here to ask 'what's next' :innocent:
