I need a logo for www.managementsims.co.uk

Hi,

I currently run a non-profit website at www.managementsims.co.uk (http://www.managementsims.co.uk) and am in desperate need of a new logo. We aren't a charity, but all profits from the few banners that we have do go to charity. Basically the idea of the site is to create a UK community for management simulation gamers, whilst welcoming visitors from all over the world.

I have the following background for the logo:

All I really need is some 'funky' text saying "ManagementSims.co.uk" to fit onto
that image in the middle... it can go over the lines. The only real
restriction is that all of the edges are left as is so that it will fit into
the rest of my design.

One idea I had was to have text like:

All entries welcome... I might even offer a prize for any design I use as I am sure I have some old games that I no longer play. So get creative!

FTIGraphix: I like the font, but I am not so sure about the colour of the word "Management" and ".co.uk". Perhaps a shade of blue would be better. What do you think? Also can you change the text to "ManagementSims.co.uk" rather than "ManagementSIMS.co.uk"? Thanks.

ejlain: I like the idea of the icon, but I am worried that it is a bit vague... is there anyway that you can make it clearer? Also, can the text be ManagementSims.co.uk" rather than "managementsims.co.uk"? Thank you.

General ideas: I am now thinking that what would work well is to have the word "Management" in a shade of blue, the word "Sims" in white and I am undecided about what colour the .co.uk should be in. I am also keen on having some sort of icon infront of the text, especially if it is linked to the text.

FTIGraphix: I like the text... the font and colours work really well. I'm not so sure about the icon in front of the text... I am worried that it is too generic, and won't provide much 'brand recognition'. Can you think of anyway that it can be more distinctive? Thanks.

lang: Similar to the comments above really... Although I am worried that the icon is too generic also, I do like the way that it draws attention to the start of the text. This is important as many people assume that we are a site devoted to just "The Sims" game, but we are aiming to cover a wider range of games than that. The "Sims" bit does look better being slightly smaller as you have it now. Thanks.

Thanks everyone for submitting... keep your designs coming. I plan to shortlist the entries late next week (as I have some exams to sit before then!). Once I have a shortlist, then I will put them up on the website for visitors to vote for their favourate. There is no limit on the number of entries you can submit, so if you can think of anything better than my suggestions (as what do I know!) then feel free to submit.

coxy: I like the colour schemes in 3, 4 and 6. Not sure that the others would fit into what I have planned for the rest of the site template. Similar to previous feedback that I have provided, I like the way the circle draws attention to the start of the text, but I am concerned that a circle is too generic. I would like to use any icon for branding the site, for example using it as the favourates icon. Can you think of anything less generic? Also, thanks for sending me your links to Sims 2 screens and logo. They are higher quality than the ones that I already have, did you get them off the EA website?

You could try applying to become a member, and then you get access to big hi-res images, press releases, exclusive info and such like. B)

Edit: Also, I was thinking the circle could maybe work.

Thanks for the tip coxy... I have just applied to become a member, looks just like what I need to help me get the new site up and running. Seeing the "M" in the circle like that does convince me that it could work as the favourate icon.
