Hi, I am in the UK and am just starting off this charity.
It will be primarily rescuing dogs, cats and rabbits from our town of Rotherham. Then, we will be assisting with life skills to a wide range of socially excluded people - special needs, volunteers, children - anyone who wants a help with socialisation and care skills.
I am looking for a name and a logo - I did call it summerfields, but its not zippy enough. I will need the text life skills through pet care to be in with the logo - and I want everyone to be aware of what we are doing - Any help you guys can offer would be fantastic. (ps everyone says my summerfields is boring and i agree with them).
love the designs on here.

I just wondered if I had put enough information in my post to tempt anyone?
Or is everyone really busy?
Is it that I should really come up with a name myself - its just that I am a little boring as well, and am not what would be termed zippy???
So - can anyone think of a good name that covers what we do? Is anyone interested in looking into doing a design for us? We will be rescuing dogs, cats and rabbits in our shelter and helping them with our excluded community from Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England to be nursed back to full health.
Anyone?

Hi, Im going to prepare something, its just that words and names are not my stuff  . Im a little busy right now, but I can try to come up with a full concept (name and logo) in a couple of days :) . Also, as english is not my first language its a little hard for me to come up with a good name, but I love animals so I will do my best! :D

Ok, I came up with a name last night, just want to drop it here :D , what about "The heart squad"? I think it sounds cool and it makes me want to be part already!

Hi Julieta,
thanks for posting.
My problem is that whilst I am passionate about animals, the majority of the population aren't. Therefore, they won't supply funding.
I have to find something that appeals to those funders, to tell them i am helping their under priviledged humans, but advertise the uniqueness of the fact that we are using domestic pets to open that method.
Whilst I love your name - I don't know if it says that - unless we just call it that, and have the "Life skills through pet care" underneath. I don't know maybe you can have a play?
thanks again

Forgot to say,
A friend has suggested this?
what do you think
cd
collectingdogs,
I am thinking about the name. My wife and I own a pet sitting business and we also have 4 dogs and a cat we have rescued. We are very pet/animal friendly and I would love to help.
As far as your name idea, it sounds like an obedience school, rather than the human doing the learning, which may put off your funders, as you say. Just a thought.

Hi
thanks for the pet solution,
However, because they don't want a pet solution, the funders want a people solution, but we want to let them know we are a people solution, but we are different - we offer pet care.
I know its hard to get your head round, but we don't want to put the people funders off, becaue they think its to do with pets, but then we don't want to blend in with all the other people friendly projects, cos we are different, we include a pet rescue.
here's hoping and thanks for your effort.
what did you think to PAWS-ITIVELY LEARNING
cd
I had mentioned before, I think the name Paws-itively Learning sounds like a pet obedience school. I also think it might be a little too cute for the seriousness of your goals. In my humble opinion.
I am finding the most difficult thing trying to integrate the pet aspect of your organization without making it sound like it is a pet organization.
I think I have a good grasp on what you are looking for, just hard to do. What I was trying to convey with "petsolution" is that the solution to the human problem is a pet. The pet is the solution, hence the name.
I chose "solution" because it is also a very good name when you are trying to fund an organization. Benefactors like to know that their money is solving something and not being wasted.
I will be thinking some more and trying to encapsulate the goals without being overtly pet-centric.

Hi Carl,
I see what you are meaning now, sorry for being slow.
Yes , the pawsatively is very doggy and twwee. and i do like your pet solution, it is just extremely difficult isn't it. It may be that its too vast to cover in a name, and so accept it. As soon as i mention life skills through pet care, everyone understands anyway.
To me, pets are the solution, its the people that are the problem, but i agree with what you are saying - the funders do need to know that something is being resolved - and that's what we are telling them. What do you think about a more people/pet type of logo with it though.
thanks for your advise

Hi,

MOZ has an idea for you. Will post later today
Here's a nice blending for the name. Can be any color.

thanks for that Moz, however, i tend to agree with Carl's view earlier, i don't know if that name makes you think its all dog behaviour and not helping with the people
so, we need to include the helping vulnerable people as well aspect, otherwise the funders won't even look at our applications/project, let alone give us any money.
thanks though and i really love the design and image -

I disagree. In my opinion, it states exactly what your intentions are. Pawsative Solutions lets the public know that you intend on working with animals and I do agree that perhaps a different icon (maybe an animal and human interacting) I really feel that the "Pawsative" name that you came up with is unique, and will open up the doors for funding. It's got the hook! Different icon and I feel you have very PAWSATIVE SOLUTION to your needs!!!!

Hi
I have been to a forum meeting, and they would like to see some designs with the Summerfields name being used. I like your idea MOZ with the human/dog but can you think of anything that links with the care aspect?
thank you

Can I tempt anyone to think about the logo still please?
After seeing the idea about the silhouette with the dogs, I would like the Summerfield's - Life Skills through Pet Care (dot over the I to use a paw print, then is there a chance us a person, with their arms outstretched, and then wrapping them around a dog and a cat sillhouette?
Just an idea we had - anyone manage that please?
thank you

Can't anyone think or want to do this one?
I have given the site name to a number of businesses that I deal with, but maybe no-one wants to donate to a charity, or is it just that its not enough money?
Last attempt this one, and will forget it if no-one replies.
cheers
MOZ is still out here, just without a computer for a few more days!!!

I figured I'd give this one a try ... here's a couple of quick mock-ups (note: I took some time to clean up the originals that I posted).

Your original design is right. Don't bother about doing other colours. I like the green. After showing it around last night, everyone thinks its really there and shows what we are about.
thanks for doing it for us, hopefully it will be used throughout England as we are looking to set this up regionally at first, and then spread it through other boroughs when we get going.
thanks for trying.
any idea what I should do now?

Hi again,
I don't know what you mean by those. Is that, what size will go on an A4 page and what will go on a business card?
If you want to email me direct you can on admin@rotherham-animals-in-need.co.uk and then I will sort it out.
Basically, I wouldn't want to change it just add it onto anything that we produce.
thanks again for your help.

Can anyone tell me what I need to do now to finish off this design.
What do I take away with me, Can i resize this image that I have. Can i get it emailed in some way.
Its a great design, but its been a bit of a bumpy jitery ride. Is that just because there isn't much money riding on the back of the charity ones?
thanks to all those who did offer a design -
regards

i will try somewhere else. what a pity no one can be bothered to respond.
as per the other user, either the web site is that big, or its just badly run, one way or the other, i haven't got out of it, what i expected and what was supposed to be delivered.

Hello and sorry for the delay. I've sent a message to AllEyesOnJenny to let her know that you've selected her design and are awaiting the files. Since we're heading into the weekend, it's possible she might not get the message until Monday. So please hang in there a bit longer. If you don't here from Jenny on Monday, though, let me know.
What you can expect in the final file package is vector artwork in both color and black and white. Vector art is fully resizable so it can be used it for business cards, letterhead, t-shirts, making web graphics or anything else. You'll also receive some high resolutions JPEGs or TIFFs. And if you need any additional file formats, she can include them as well.
We've gotten very busy at Design Outpost recently and designers are doing their best to spread themselves around. But I certainly would like to apologize if your experience here was not as good as you'd hoped. We strive to make everyone happy, whether they be regular clients or charities in need. We'll do better next time :)
If you have any other questions or concerns, please let m know.
Thanks
Tonya

I'm here, I've actually checked the site nearly everyday waiting to make sure the contest was closed and everything was official before I sent off my designs. I'm going to format everything properly this evening and PM you the logo tomorrow morning.

Thanks for that both of you.
Its just so frustrating sometimes - and I do understand when the pressure gets on top of you.
I was just surprised that there wasn't much interest.
Jenny the design is great and I thank you for the idea.
I will await the artwork.

Good morning:
My server was being a little wacky this morning, and I didn't want to delay the process any futher, so I just emailed all of the files directly to the email address you provided earlier in this thread.
Please let me know if you have any problem (I sent a test run and it worked just fine though, so you shouldn't have a problem!)
Thanks again!
