Hey all,

This is for a redesign of http://www.Wrestling101.com. There is tons of stuff to include as you can see from the various links in the top, left, right and bottom of the page.

Prize: $300

Company name: Wrestling 101

Company profile: Pro Wrestling content site with its main focus being its hundreds of articles.

What I need: HTML template of the main page and an article page. Only difference with the article page is it doesn’t need space for Latest wrestling news (last 10) and Latest forum topics (last 10).

What I don’t like about the current website:

* I don’t like everything in boxes.

* I feel the content area is too small.

* Wrestling images in the header…I want to remove all those, so you’ll just have to be creative :)

* I think it’s a little too image heavy with all the borders for the boxes and the big headers.

What I like about the current website:

* Each of the four main sections (and their subpages) has their own specific header. I like the idea that these sections are like mini-sites…and would appreciate if someone could do something similar with this new design. It could be just something simple as the section name somewhere.

* I like having the main navigation links along the top, with the sub-links on the left of each section.

* Having the site centred on the page.

What doesn’t need to be included: The newsletter box, and the main menu on the left (Subscribe, Chat, Discuss etc) can be reduced.

Navigation: I would like you to use tabs along the top, with the following needed:

Home / UK Scene / US Scene / Int & MMA Scene / Video Games / News / Reviews / Shop / Misc

Intended audience: Mainly male, late teens and early twenties.

Mood or tone: I want it to look professional but still attractive to its target audience.

Colour psychology: The main content area has to be white. The new logo uses red and grey so I imagine those colours would have to be used too. I’m open to any suggestions including changing the logo colours if you feel its necessary.

Websites I like:

http://www.sitepoint.com/ - They don’t use boxes, but separate the various content areas effectively.

Hey,

I like the colours used...all looks good together.

1) You dont need to include those links to Talk Wrestling Online etc in the header - I can add those in as text links somewhere in the template later.

2) The navigation links along the top are wrong...see my first post for what links to include...should be 9 in total.

3) The logo doesnt look right against the background...there was a notes document with the logo which might help get it right...something to do with background layers.

4) Could you fade the wrestling image more into the background as it stands out too much?

5) I dont think you need the red line across the bottom of the header.

6) The Contact / Feedback etc links seem to stand out more than the main links - maybe change the colours or swap the colours over?

Its a good start though :)

Its better :)

Just a few things:

1) Keep the Contact / Feedback etc links as they were on the red section - and remove all the grey section.

2) Make the main links at the top a little bigger that way you might be able to keep the Contact / Feedback etc links on the red background without them standing out too much as the main links will be a larger font size.

3) Fade that ring/wrestlers image alot more into the background...it still stands out too much. For an example see THIS (http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=30034&stc=1) - I want it faded like this header, so you can just about see the image.

4) Could you also remove the grey line which goes across the bottom bit of the header - where the red line was.

Its looking good...theres some changes I'd like to see mentioned below...I've included some changes on the image below too..I've numbered them so it should make it easier to see what I want changed.

1) Could you remove that dark grey bit from the top right of the header?

2) Could you have the red menu go all the way across.

3) Remove this grey bit.

4) Make this section go all across.

5) You dont need this menu here.

6) Move all this section (Poll, news, forum topics) where the advertising / wrestling101 shop / banners are on the right side. Please see my next post below!

7) Have all this section above the footer section in its own section. So instead of having the links going down, have them going across. I'll be able to change the ebay/ad banners sizes later so if you just put some spaces in for those.

I hope you understand as its a little complicated to explain :)

I totally forgot about the left-side navigation that would be needed for most of the internal pages. So for step 6...could you put that on the left side, not the right, and remove the right side altogether? That way I can put the internal navigation links above whatever is on the left side.

I heard back from the advertisers regarding the banner sizes...could you try this:

- Put an ad-banner box above the poll section. Would about 220*240 fit in there ok? I'm not sure how wide that section is. You dont need to include the "Advertising" text above the banners.

- Put another banner the same size under the poll section.

Then for the bottom section, could you split that into three columns, 1st one for Wrestling101 Shop, 2nd for Forum Topics and 3rd for Ebay?

You can remove the advertising banner/text from the bottom.

I'm sorry about all these changes, its difficult to try and get everything looking right.

Sorry for the late reply Aliska, I've been so busy as of late!

- Have the header section 760 instead of 750, you might have to make some of the other bits longer too.

- Add a banner 760*100 just below the red bar (contact us etc) near the top.

- Remove the ad banner above the poll.

- Move the news to above the forum topics in the main section...just spead them out more to fill that space.

- Move the ebay banner to the left menu, below the shop links.

Hopefully that will look OK :)

- For the left could you keep that background all the same...the light grey your using? I dont like the dark grey where the ebay banner is.

First of all thank you Luc, Anne and Aliska for your entries, I appreciate all the work you've put into them. But as always there can only be one winner, and that is Aliska!

Aliska could you make the following changes:

- In the top header links can you change "Int & MMA Scene" to "International & MMA Scene" as I think you have enough space to fit it in.

- Theres a little gap between the red bar with the Contact Us etc links and the big ad banner - could you remove the gap?

- Could you add the "Wrestling 101 Shop" header with the shopping links on the left.

- Could you make the whole of the left background colour the same (same as the background you've used where the shopping links are)

- Could you remove the shop icon from the news box?

- Could you make the forum topics layout the same as the news one?

- Could you remove the "previous article" and "on top" links in the content area as I dont need them.

Hopefully once these are done, we should nearly be finished!

That was fast :)

- Could you remove that grey line/bar from under the big banner (the one under the red bar) - I liked how that was before. I just wanted the gap from above the banner removed, the bottom was ok already.

- For the left side, could you make the background all grey go right to the bottom - so theres no white space on the left...there is currently under the ebay banner.

- Could you make "Wrestling 101 Shop" the same as "Wrestling 101 Poll" - Wrestling 101 should be red with the Shop in grey...also remember to do a space between Wrestling and 101 - it shouldnt be Wrestling101.

- For the Forum Topics table, could you remove the line that separates the two columns...so its just one column...like the news table is.

Once thats done...I think that should be OK for the mainpage. I'll also need a sub-page example...basically it has to be exactly the same as you've done above...but:

1) There needs to be a links above the poll

2) The content area will have an article.

Keep the latest news / forum topics under the content area.

Could you do the html coding now? Remember to have the design centred on the page, I dont want it on the left. I'll need two templates - the mainpage one, and an article one like you've done above.

Regarding images...could you do a side heading (like you've done for poll / shop / sub sections) for:

Wrestling 101 Info
Wrestling 101 Partners
Wrestling 101 Affiliates
And a blank one..incase I need to do anymore in the future.

Could you also do a blank one of the one you did for news / forum topics - incase I need to add/change something in the future.

These above images dont need to be part of the templates - I can add them in later when I need them.

Once your finished, could you either PM me a link to download...or I'll PM you my email address to send the files to.
