Deadline: 02/12/05

When customers visit my websight, they will need to be given a choice to either choose full service commercial or residential services. The two customer groups are handled very, very differently. Once the customer makes a selection, the links for commercial services will be completely different than the links for residential services.

I'll send Palmer the logo and some photos that you guys may want to use. I also encourage you guys to use other photos as well.

If you need more direction than this, please post here. Palmer is designing an interface wherein I'll be able to make changes to the website myself. [admin edit]we'll be using Mambo for the CMS[/edit]

Thanks,

Hi! Here's my entry... the thing is that I just noticed you were talking about a redesign, so menu items don't quite corespond (but can be easily fixed)...

looking forward to your comments!

I only want two links on the home page. One should say "Residential clients click here" The other should say "Commercial clients click here". That should be the only text on the home page. Once the customer makes a selection from the home page, then they will have a page with text, like the one you have posted. There should be no text on the home page other than "Commercial clients click here" and "Residential clients click here".

Ideally, I'd like a picture for the commercial link to include some kind of office building. For the link to residential, a picture of a home landscape.

I labeled this as a redesign project, but you should not use the current website as any kind of reference. It isn't at all what I want.

1on1,

You are on the right path with the first page. But we some sort of art work or pictures or something. I think it would look best with a picture of a high rise office building on the left with the words "Commercial clients click here" and on the right, a photo of a residential landscape with the words "Residential clients click here".

How's this for an intro page? :)

kit10,

That's outstanding! Exactly what I wanted.

The template for the residential and commercial services can be the same. It is important that the Visa & Mastercard logos be prominently displayed on the template.

For the Residential home page, I'll need the following links:

Contact Us
Lawn Mowing
Bed Weed Control
Lawn Fertilization & Weed Control
Shrub Trimming, Mulch & Bed Cleanup
Our Billing & Payment Requirements
Employment
About Us

For the Commercial home page, I'll need the following links:

Contact Us
Our Terms
Our Services
Employment
About Us

Thanks,

Hi! Here is the layout for the "residential clients" page... What do you think?

Kit10,

I think your layout for the residential clients template looks very nice. My only concern is that it looks like I'll be limited to the number of links I can have by the size of the picture. Or can I simply reduce the font size and have more links if I need them later on?

Also, what happens to the background picture of the grass blades with the water droplets if my text is so long that it has to be scrolled down? I anticipate having fairly long winded text on some of the pages.

Anne,

I really like your homepage. I'm interested to see what you can come up with for a template.

Hi DFW,

I presume from the lack of feedback on my entry that it's not what your looking for, so I will remove it.

Links: I can fit in 4 more links if I keep the same font size and just reduce the vertical space between the links. If I reduce the font size I can squeeze in even more links :)

Grass Image This image will keep it's current location (bottom-right corner) no matter how much text is inserted into the template.

Kit10,

Looks nice. I've got to give Anne a little more time to see what her template looks like. I really like what you've done. Very professional. But so far, I think I like Anne's entrance home page a little better. I just think it does a better job of differentiating the two separate paths.

Thanks,

Kit10,

I'm leaning towards your design. Can you show me what you have in mind for the commercial template?

:D Wow! Thanks!
Do you have any revisions for the pages?

Do you need html pages or just psd files?

Palmer

I'll be setting the web site up with a content management system. I'll need to look it over to see if there may be any issues before I have you convert it to html.

I'll move it to revisions and post if anything needs changed.

Ok, everything looks fine for me. If Mace has any changes he can psot them. If all is well with him then the template can be converted to html.

When it is coded the top left links will need to be text links and the image of the building behind the menu and the image of the grass blades on the bottom right will need to be background images of those table cells.

Does that make sense?

KiT10

Yes it does :)
Can do, no problems here!

As soon as you need me to do something, let me know. I'm assuming you won't need my server information until we have the finished website ready to go.

You can send the server information, that way I'll be able to install the CMS. Just reply to that one email I sent.

Thanks :)

Ooops, I spoke too soon. Can you send the .psd also? I may need it. It can't be a layered .png, my software doesn't make the layers.

Palmer,

I've been told by some folks that when you register your web site with the search engines, if you have your e-mail address listed, you'll start getting spam from hundreds of solicitors.

I'm told the way to avoid this is to have a contact us page where the customer enters their information and clicks submit, kind of like the way Ipower is doing it:

http://helpcenter.ipower.com/cgi-bin/ipower.cfg/php/enduser/ask.php?p_sid=k_x6Hgch&p_lva=&p_sp=&p_li=

So this is what I need on the contact us page. Obviously, the telephone number needs to be in large font at the top of the page, but then I'll need something like this for e-mail.

I only want three inputs on this. A place for the customer to enter their e-mail address, a place for a subject and a place for the text.

Thanks,
DFW Area Landscaper

Not a problem. The CMS has one built in so it just has to be enabled.
