Hello,

We at Dickinson Gallery are looking for a web design that is very classy and elegant but simple to navigate at the same time. Currently we have a domain name www.dickinsongallery.com now please don't laugh when you see it. I only know how to hack at front page. so I NEED SOMETHING REAL GOOD!!.

I had a brochure done here before and I would like to follow the same idea it's all part of the marketing.

Ok as far as the lay out there is no structure for now, so let your imagination run free. :rolleyes:

the gallery:
We are a "framing studio and fine art!"

We are not interested in online framing so don't even go there, as far as the framing we will supply you in the future with photographs from our brag book, for the time being just fcrate empty boxes to show where the art/frame would go.

We do carry antique prints and maps and original artwork on all types of mediums.

I will try to attache a low res of the brochure in the future so the colour schematics and style is carried through. :yes:

Hi, here is my first attempt. I wanted to integrate both the brochure and the website but at the same time keep the originality of the site intact. Just in case I use the concept of the frame to place the structures and also play with the concept inside concept to make the visitor feel the company is also inside the painting. :D

On the left side also "news" or "announcements" can be placed and the site can extend to infinity both down and left allowing it to be flexible for a great amount of content.

About high res. images don't worry I understand that the logo and the font of the our name will look like :yuk: . What you have now is all you need to get the idea together, that goes for everyone, once I pick the winner or start to finalize the contest I'll upload for guys the 300dpi graphix, and you can mannage them properly.

Ok, About the desing... I am not very happy with the multiple frames in the body of the page :( . The only thing I like about the page is the "picture light" detail on the top left corner. Unfortunately the rest of the page is missing the whole point of elegance.

I should add that I am looking for this page to have not only a front page but several pages from it's links. Be it a page with information about conservation framing, glacing, antique prints and maps etc... Also I would like to have a final copy burned on cd shipped to me from the winner, wich includes a copy of the template and full access to make changes.

Maby try the logo screened in the background, and the main page not to be so harshly divided....

I am looking for a smooth looking elegant web page.

Now that is a good question???? :blush: Well we have an old fashion feeling about us with respect to the personal attention and care we take with our work, but we have the latest and highest standards of the market.... So I think a flare of old fashion would be a nice touch. I mean look at the name Dickinson Gallery, take a look at the brochure and our website www.dickinsongallery.com .

Aliska I am liking the tones better but the desing is not quite doing too much for me, I need to feel a bit more luxury from the page, also try coming up with some generic back pages if you can. I need you to enlarge the logo and set it to the far left and the name following. that seems to be the order of our image.
With this changes try to do a design with a left margin menue intead of the one accross. just food for thought.

I understand what you mean.
But I need to know what elements you like with my second version. These designs are hard to combine as they are totally different. Do you want me to come up with a new design or is it something you want me to change?
If you can be more specific, it will help me a lot :)

Our appologies for the long delays in getting back to you guys :blush: . We've had a very busy in the past few weeks. We would be closing the contest by the end of March. We are not very happy with the designs thus far :yawn: . I want to see someting different from all of you so far what I have seen from all of you are the same basic template template but with my logo and colours. I'am sure the contest is not as simple as some others but I am also offering more than the rest. Come on people lets get our thinking caps on and show me what you've got. :yes:

one template that I liked was one done for espinosa gallery in this forum, check it out.

Make it Nice and ritch looking, and you colours should be based on the brochure files.

Lilja, I am liking the colour much better, but It seems a little too compact to the top and nothing @ the bottom. Try your open concept with a left ledger and maby like a moch up of a picture light on the options... ;)

Ok let's try it with out so many frames around. ( the green and then the beigh and then some more
let try it wit just the green as a back ground and then with just the beigh back ground. Bue some green faded in some where on the top or side or bottom.

We like you final design, work only on your final design, please incorporate some of the images to it and please let me see two or three inner pages. The inner pages try to get an idea from the subject buttons on the cover page.

NOw :blush: you have out name WRONG!!! It's Dickinson Gallery.

The "dickinson gallery framing studion and fine art" Banner should be horizontal accross the top . Also Like Lilja design we like that she textured the colours try that on some of those boxes, and make it so in the future I can change and or add new windows to it ...well you could possibly.

try that and let's see what you can come up with.

I will start on the tweeking immediately :) and when you are satisfied I'll start on the programing.

Do you have the gold text in your logo (as in the pdf) in another format like eps or psd? I can't make it bigger than this because I used the one in the pdf file you provided.

I'm programing two pages; the start and subpage in HTML and CSS. I will comment everything in the code so that it is easier for you to edit/update the pages. The best way for you to edit the templates is with an HTML editor, i.e Macromedia Dreamweaver.
