My name is Jason Grissom and I have recently started a student ministry called onelife. It is a ministry that will equips students, student ministers and adult workers.
We are getting ready to launch our website in about three weeks and we need a quality logo. The site is to be a place of community, training, and resources. I would like the the logo to be contemporary and hip but not so trendy that it is outdate is a year or so. I would to able to use the logo on our wesite, polo shirts, letterheads, and buisness cards.
The essences of onelife is to make the onelife you count. To maximize the moment. To not waste one day. If you could some how capture that in the logo that would be great. We have used various in house designs that are pitiful to say the least. We need something great that will be used for years to come. I would like the word onelife in the logo. However, I don't have to have the words (student ministries) in the logo. However, if you would like to do some samples with and without the word student ministries that would ok.
If I had to pick colors black, red, yellow are colors that are own our website. However, we are not lock in to those particular colors. The website is not up yet but you can take a seek peek if you would like www.gotonelife.com/index.php
If you have any question please feel free to contact me at jason@eastaboga.org
The contest deadline is June 13th.
I have posted a prize of $65.

I see that we've had some "hits" on our post, but no replies or submissions... I hope the fact that we're a ministry isn't scaring anyone off.
If anyone out there needs more info - maybe I didn't give enough specifics (or... maybe I gave too many ) - Who knows?!
Anyway... I'd love to know if anyone is thinking or working on this thing. It's a little disheartening to see that many of the posts after ours got quite a few hits and a bunch of replies.
Seriously, if you want or need more info, just ask.
Blessings!
Most people will be working on designs that have a closer deadline.
The designs will come, and its a good contest, so hopefully, designs will be plentiful too.
Oh, and for the designer's info, the BBC have program called 'onelife'
I dont suppose you want to design a logo too similar to theirs...
...so here it is:

PLEASE NOTE: the above is NOT an entry for this competition :)

Well I thought i'd just get my REALLY simple idea out of the way, then I can focus on something that encapsulates the very meaning of onelife. :)

No problem, I was thinking, would it be ok for me to add a little graphic of an extreme sports activity? Or is that too, complicated a link with onelife. The thinking behind the activity was that if you seize the moment, you tend to do some sort of high risk activity..(or is that just my weird thinking?). If you have any other ideas, things you would like to see perhaps, I'm sure I could come up with something.
Thanks :)

I think the design is cool. However, I don't think that is what I am really looking for. One of the things that I didn't like is the way you split the name into two words. It also gave me a far east feel. Nothing wrong with far east it is just not what I am looking for. Good try. I hope that you submit something else.

Victoria,
I like the conept! However, I am not really crazy about the onelife font. I like the rapeller! It can of sums up the whole onelife, carpe diem thing! Also could you do some of the coloring in red and black. Those are colors that we have used in the past. Thanks! I look forward to your response.

Ed,
I like the new colors you gave your design. The number 1 design was my favorite. However, I have a question. Do you think the paint swoosh you gave the design would print right on a polo shirt. Also, I have had the idea of turning the the o into a clock of some sort. Do you think you could do anything with that idea? I look forward to your response!

Victoria,
I love the concept of the rapeller. However, I am still not crazy about the font. Maybe putting the letters in some kind of stone or rock looking font might make a difference. Also I was thinking about turning the o into a clock? Maybe have the rapeller rapelling off a rock/stone font clock? I look forward to your response. Thank you so much for your time and effort.

First off, I'd like to propose an alternative color scheme. The three shades below offer a real touch, envoking a feel-good and positive attitude.
The simple logo underscores the "simpleness" of the concept: [ Seize today. Improve tomorrow. ] Anything too complex will not do the job.
Here she is...

geiger,
Thank you for your imput. I like your design and I also like your (sieze today, imporve tomorrow) slogan. It is simple yet makes a statement. Your design is a possibility. However, I still want to see what victoria, ed and maybe the other designers will come up with. :D

Thank you for the comments. Is there any modification you would like to the present design? If not, is there another idea you wish to pursue, in which case I can create another version?

Ed,
Thank you for updating the design as requested! It still isn't what we are looking for. Honestly, I am questioning what we are looking for. I know we want a logo that is simple yet makes a statement. I have the help of four others in making my decision. They work with our ministry. We haven't seen anything so far that blew us away. I know that you as the designer depend on us as the customer to tell you what we want. My case is just the opposite. I told you what I thought we wanted but after seeing it we realized it is not what we wanted. Ed, the design so far that our panel likes so far is elkootcho #2. :D I wished that I could give you more information on what we are looking for. :( However, when I asked the panel what the would like to see all I got was;DUH! Simple yet makes a statement is all I know to tell you. So if you have something up your creative sleeve that you would like to introduce please do so! I want you to know that I appreciate your willingness and effort so far!

Designers,
Thank you for all your hard work! You have done everything that we have ask you to do and more. You are all talented and a joy to work with. I would like to point you to two websites that have logos that are simple yet make a statement to our team ww.dougfields.com and www.harvest.org. We like the logo's that these two ministries have. After looking at these two logo's if you would like to submit another entry that would be great! We will have a meeting at lunch on Friday to decide which logo is the winner! Again, thank you for all your hard work and willingness to do whatever we ask! :D
Victoria - thank you for your new design. However, it is still not quite what we are looking for. :( I hope that you will enter another submission by friday. If you would take a look at the two websites above and maybe that will give you some idea of what we like and are looking for. Thank you for all your hard work and effort!!
Elkootcho - thank you for your modification. As of right now your logo is the favorite. However, the team is open to anything else you or anyone elsemight want to submit.
Geiger - thank you for your submission. However, it is still not quite what we are looking for. :( Maybe the two websites above would give you an idea of the simple yet statement design we are looking for. :D
Ed - The design is good! Some of the team liked the design but it wasn't their favorite. There was one particular that stood out to the whole team. It was the first item that they all liked and that was your slogan; life's short. leave a mark. The one item they didn't like was the fingerprint. So maybe you could keep the slogan and modify the rest?
