I was referred by some other pet care people who have used this service for their business. I live in San Francisco and have started a new business registered as "Tail Waggers" It's Dog Walking, Pet Sitting and Vacation Services. I need a logo. I haven't printed cards or brochures yet so I'm not attached to any color. I do like blues and purple sand greens. My car is eggplant color. I would like to limit it to 2 colors to reduce costs. I would like something cheerful and whimsical. nothing too cartoony, I'd prefer it to be more elegant than silly. An idea would be a brush stroke (like in Japanese art) that gives the feeling of a tail with the name and subname. Subname could also be professional pet services instead of the long dog walking, pet sitting and vacation services. I look forward to working with you on creating something. The majority of my biz is dogs and cats.

Hello Laynezimm,
Here is my initial design for your logo.
It's created as a 2-colour logo, for low printing costs.
The colour scheme can easily be changed to whatever strikes your fancy.
Your feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks,
-Kimber.

I've been posting personal emails rather than emails to the site. I didn't understand the process. I'm looking for something less cartoony yet still fanciful.

Kimber, I do love your logo. I'd like to see the logo in a different color, aubergine or teal maybe? to print on yellow paper? or any suggestion.

also i'm considering a logo that's a little more Asian in feel - like a sweeping thick ink mark (suggesting a tail) with the company name under it. also, do you think i should just say professional pet care services rather than the 3 statements.

thanks,

layne

...aubergine ...
Is that a shade of teal?
Pardon my ignorance, but I've never heard of "Aubergine".

I'll post a teal logo later tonight... I'll have to consult my dictionary for "Aubergine". ;)

AUBERGINE = Eggplant!
Is that right? An Eggplant colour?

*addition*

"For those of you who might not know, aubergine is the French word for eggplant; hence the color 'aubergine' is a deep purple. "

It would be plum or dark purple.

yes aubergine is eggplant or a deep purple. it's the color of my car so i thougth it might look nice on a magnetic sign. eggplant or teal - those are just some thoughts. i want the logo to be more upbeat, cheery, playful.

thanks

Here's my original idea in "Aubergine" and teal: Hope they show up well onscreen.

And here's another idea -- made with brush strokes.
I was going to go for a Chinese look, but unforunately, I couldn't see a dog in the character representing "Dog".
But here it is anyway.

Also, I was going to put my 2cents in regarding the yellow paper you'd like to print on.
Something you may want to think about is the colour of the stock you choose may affect the appearance of the ink colours you choose. For example: The yellow stock may make Teal appear a little more brightly lime-coloured. And Eggplant (Plum) may appear muddy brown. If you're using thermography (raised ink) for your business cards, the stock colour may just visually make your colours appear differently. I would suggest a nice bright white stock, perhaps gloss to get your ink colours to appear their truest.

Please keep in mind this is only my humble opinion. If you want yellow stock, by all means have it. I just believe in being forewarned.

thanks to both of you for your great work!!! really exciting. i appreciate all your efforts elkootcho and i really liked your 2nd one (more to my taste ), kimber, i'm still leaning toward the first one you did.i just have to decide if i want the bottom to say prof petcare services or the 3 - dog walking, pet sitting and vacation services thanks for designing the ones with the brush strokes. i like the idea but the actual shapes didn't work for me. how bout a round nose for the dog? Let me consult with a friend before you take the time to adjust it. i may just stick with the first one.

thanks for your input about the paper stock. i know you're right, i didn't think about it.

I'm going to end the contest and go with Kimber's first design. I'm very happy with it and I appreciate all the efforts.

Thank you very much, Layne.
By my "first" design, are you referring to the "Brown" one?
Also, have you decided whether its to be: "dog walking, pet sitting and vacation services" or just "Professional Pet Care Services"?
Please advise.

Yes, Kimber, the brown one with dog walking, pet sitting and vacation services. i thought you said the file was in black and white anyway, but whatever. i'm going to use a printer and just use shades of brown so it'll be a one color job but will look like many colors just like your design.

Okay. I'll prepare it and send it to you tomorrow evening.
