(Admin code added by Michael - B196015B+E1280644)
We are a print tracking software company and we are going to be replacing our flagship software, Print Audit 4, with a new version, Print Audit 5. Print Audit 5 will be a suite of three products called Analysis, Reduction and Recovery. These products will help our clients analyze, reduce and recover their printing costs.
This brochure will be 11 x 17, center-fold and double-sided. The look of the brochure should be consistent with the Print Audit 5 packaging. The illustrator files for the packaging are available in the designer’s forum if you need them. There’s also a link to various stock photos you can use.
The content can be found here:
http://www.printaudit.com/Print_Audit_5_brochure_content.rtf
Here is an EPS of the Print Audit 5 logo:
http://www.printaudit.com/images/Print_Audit_5_logo.eps
These screenshots should be included in the brochure.
http://www.printaudit.com/pa5-screenshots.zip
The front cover of the brochure can look similar to the cover of the Print Audit 5 packaging, but the content I posted above should be added too. The two inside pages will contain the “Standard Features” summary and the content for Analysis, Reduction and Recovery. The back cover will have a features comparison chart and contact information. I am still working on the features comparison and will be posting it soon. You may begin working without it.
It’s important that I get it completed soon. Please let me know ASAP if you are going to be joining in this contest.
I will be needing the rights and source files for this project. Thanks.
The April 4 deadline is flexible, but I would like to have a good start on it by then.

Here's a link to screenshots that should be included in the brochure.
http://www.printaudit.com/pa5-screenshots.zip
I think we're going to run into some space issues here. The Reduction screenshot should be put near the Reduction portion of the brochure. The analysis graph should be put by Analysis. It can be made small and/or faded into the background to save space. As for the administration screenshot goes, I'm not sure it will fit at all, but if you have room then go for it.
I just noticed that I uploaded the wrong stock photos file. Please download it again (the link is the designer's hangout), it has a lot more photos now.

So far ElKootcho is off to the best start. The rest of you aren’t keeping the look consistent enough with the Print Audit 5 packaging. You should work the blue bars into the design and use the same colors.
Elkootcho, good start. The quotes need to be associated with the different products. I.E. the quote I put with Analysis in the content file should be near Analysis on the brochure. Also, please put in the screenshots I posted above.
Thanks.

Hello everyone, please download the screenshots file again as there's a new screenshot there. I accidently put the reduction one in twice before. The reduction and recovery screenshots are mandatory and the analysis chart is optional. I was thinking the analysis chart could be blended into the background in a subtle way, like some of you have done with the 5 logo.

Ok feedback time.
ElKootcho:
- Looking pretty good, but needs some work. The blue bar on top can be made smaller. I think it's wasting a lot of space right now.
- The positioning of the quotes is better now, but can be made a little more visible.
- I'm not crazy about the beige background color you're using for the standard features box. How about a light blue instead?
- The graph screenshot isn't doing much for me. I would either get rid of it altogether or have it faded into the background in some subtle way.
Gilles:
- It has a lot of potential but it's too busy. I would go either or with the graph or the big 5 in the background, not both. Also if you're going to have the graph in the background remove the small screenshot of it.
- Some of your fonts can be made a lot smaller. For example, the sentence on the top bar and "Print Audit 5 standard features."
- The text in the reduction and recovery screenshots should be readable. I can't tell from your sample if it is or not.
Thanks!

Hello Trevor,
Thank you for your feedback :) Here's a revised inside of the brochure. Though I am a big fan of the graph on the background, I am afraid that it won't print well when it's resized to a large area, because the picture has a resolutin change (probably from 72pixels/inch to 300pixels/inch). So I used the rounded logo for the backround. The screenshot text is readable now. Please let me know what do you think.
Thank you,
Gilles.

Aaron: Very good start. I really like the layout and design of the inside. I’m not sure that I like the quotes highlighted like that. I do like the idea of making them stand out though. Is there a different way you can do it?
The blue stripes can be made narrower. This would allow you to make the text bigger as right now it looks pretty small, but it’s hard to tell from the sample you posted. What size is the font you used for the Analysis, Reduction and Recovery descriptions?
Gilles: I like the graph in the background too. You’re right that picture was low res. Would it be possible for you to recreate it as a vector? It looks like that’s what Marcusfizner did. Also, I think you need to mix things up a little bit more. Try putting the Reduction and Recovery screenshots between features and benefits, instead of at the bottom.
Thanks.

The type you mentioned is 11 pt which is plenty large enough. I will post a version with a smaller blue bar at the bottom & modified quotes. What about the outside front cover?
Thanks for the feedback:)

Hello all, here is the chart for the back of the brochure. It's going to compare fields captured, instead of features. You don't have to use the same formatting I used for the chart. Replace the 'yes' fields with checkmarks. The 'no' fields can be left blank. The system requirements from the Print Audit 5 packaging should be put on the back of the brochure also, below this chart.

Aaron: Your outside cover needs some work. I would make the bottom blue bar narrower, like it is on the packaging, and move some the text up. Your inside is looking good, but I wouldn’t mind seeing what the graph looks like with some color in it. How about a reddish tint like the original graphic has?
Victor: Your outside cover looks good. I would leave it as is for now and add the grid and system requirements from my previous post. I like a lot of what you’ve done with the inside. The Analysis, Reduction and Recovery headings look good, as the does the big quote on top. The actually content, i.e. the features and benefits look a bit bland. It needs a little something, but I’m not sure exactly what. You also have the reduction and recovery screenshots mixed up.
ElKootcho: It looks pretty good, but your quotes could stand out a little bit more. You have the reduction and recovery screenshots mixed up.
Thanks.

I'm sorry but I don't think I am understanding the information for the back cover. I attached a quick example of how I imagined the layout of the info. exanple.jpg (http://www.marcusfizner.com/DO/example.jpg) Please advise. Thanks.

Yes, that's right, except I don't know why you have 'Recovery network'. Maybe the formatting in the .rtf is messed up on your end. Here it is in html:

Hello everyone. Thanks for your entries but I'm going to narrow this contest down to Victor and Aaron.
Aaron: I've decided I would like to use the actual analysis screenshot. So please remove the chart from the background and replace the picture of the person using a computer with this screenshot:
http://www.printaudit.com/images/analysis-new.bmp
Also, I would replace the photo of the printer with the one of the 2 people talking.
Victor: Let me give yours some more thought. I'll post feedback in awhile.
Thanks.

Thanks to everyone who entered this contest.
Aaron wins.
Aaron, the changes are looking good. I would like to see what it looks like with the 5 logo very lightly in the background, where the big graph used to be. Also can you remove some of the numbers from the right-hand side of the bottom blue bar and put in: For a free trial, visit www.printaudit.com. Thanks.

Hello. We're close. Can you center the 5 logo so that it is in the middle of Analysis, Reduction and Recovery? I would also fade it out a little bit more. Can you post the next version in full size? It's hard to judge some things from the small picture.
Thanks.

Hi, looks good, just 2 more small changes :) Can you change the last sentence on the cover to: These three components can be enabled through licensing, as a suite or individually. This allows you to only pay for the features you require.
Also, can you put a registered trademark sign by the round 5 logo on top of the back cover.
Thanks!
