(Admin code added by Palmer - 9U952260P)
Hi all,
I'm back with another small job for you guys...
I need 3 animated banners (468 x 60 pixels) made in FLASH (No animated gif) for a company called Rackhosting.com (http://www.rackhosting.com)
Rackhosting.com is a Danish company soon to expand into the European market for server hosting and if you get this job you can expect to make many more banners in the future. They started in 1998 and now employs 10 people.
Their core business is server hosting of dedicated servers for Linux, windows and unix. Besides that, they offer several value added services such as CMS, account solutions, webhosting, domains, e-commerce, integrated phone switch stations and much more!
Rackhosting wishes to communicate that they are a serious professional company with complete control of the technical aspect of things without losing the serviceminded appeal.
The 3 banners must advertise Rackhosting's business webhosting service. They offer these 3 varieties:
Business class 250:
250 MB space, unlimited emails with spam- and virus filter, 5 sub domains, 1 database, PHP or ASP.NET
Price: 95,- / month
Business class 500:
500 MB space, unlimited emails with spam- and virus filter, 10 sub domains, 3 databases, PHP or ASP.NET
Price: 195,- / month
Business class 750:
750 MB space, unlimited emails with spam- and virus filter, 25 sub domains, 5 databases, PHP or ASP.NET
Price: 295,- / month
You can see the details here:
http://rackhosting.com/dk/produkter/webhoteller/
The text in the banners MUST be DANISH!
You can take the text from their website and then if you need some catch lines translated into Danish just post and I'll do that for you. In the near future the will need banners in english, french, german, italian, spanish and possibly some asian languages.
You have pretty much free hands in regards to theme and color as long as you include their logo and their slogan:
Where servers do business
This new slogan is not yet implemented in the website but will be soon. I hope you guys are up for it!
Good luck!
Kenneth

Hello,
I am planning to work on the banners, I just wonder if you have a file size limit?
Best,

I have not received any file size specifications from my client. If you can keep inside 25-30K then I guess that would be fine.

Hi again,
Here is a screenshot from the banner;
http://www.mehmetsaygin.com/do/rhbannersample.jpg
And you can find the banners below;
Business Class 750 (http://www.mehmetsaygin.com/do/businessclass750.htm)
Business Class 500 (http://www.mehmetsaygin.com/do/businessclass500.htm)
Business Class 250 (http://www.mehmetsaygin.com/do/businessclass250.htm)
If we agree on the concept, I will make different office characters for each domain package. Now package infos are different but I think we need to make different characters to identify each banner.
Btw, a vector version of the logo can help to lower the file size.

Hi again,
Okay folks. Let's continue this and see where it goes.
Adrian - Do please show me something
Mehmet - Looks good so far. I like the idea of the character theme.
I will ask my client for a vector logo.

Adrian - Do you have something I can see?
Are anyone else planning on entering this contest?
This client holds a huge potential for banners now and in the future so the designer getting this contest in house can look forward to many more banners and more volume in the future.

Thanks to both of you.
Can I please ask you to send me the sample files? I need to show both banners to my client and I need to place them on my own website. When he has reviewed them I'll return with his feedback.
Thanks!

Thx Mehmet.
Maybe this is a stupid question, but how do I make the < object > work as a link?

For some reason the "code" tags aren't working, so I can't post the code here. But I set up a page with the flash banners on them and you can "view source" to get the code:
Click here (http://homepage.mac.com/tonyagoodnow/banners/flashbanners.html)
EDIT: I just realized you were probably looking for info on how to create a clickable flash banner. If so this isn't going to help you. Sorry--I don't know how to do that.
msaygin
04-25-2005, 10:43 AM
Kenneth, I am not sure if I get it but we can add the links to flash banners easily when you give us the url.

Mehmet

Feedback received from client
Well, since I have received no file from Adrian I couldn't show it to my client so this feedback is only towards Mehmets banners.
In general my client was very impressed with the technical side of things and the finish of the drawings, but we missed his company profile by a couple of hundred miles.
The banners must be more Heavy. Think American defence bunkers with top notch security and technology. Big generators, dark panels with red lights etc.
The banners must target the heavy hitters so the cartoon idea might not be such a great way to go. More concrete, semi-conductors, fiber optics, steel. High tech future!
I think he also refers to the style his logo is in.
Can you conjure something out of those analogies???

Hi Kenneth,
Sorry, I kinda missed this thread
From the feedback provided to Mehmet I realize that my banner was quite simple and I should add more elements. I'll see what I can do to improve it.

Adrian

Thanks for the feedback Kenneth,
I understand what you mean and what they want, the "heavy" feeling. But, it is not much my style.I am not sure if I can give that feeling, I mostly work on cute, cartoony stuff.
I will think of something totally new, something heavy but I don't promise for a new entry, I will just try to do my best.
Good luck.

Hello,
I'm working on a banner for you, and I was wondering if I could get the logo in vector format, that would be great.
Thanks
ecoaid
04-28-2005, 09:41 PM
I don't have the logo in vector format. You have to work with it just from his website. It's much more important that you "hit his style" instead of the finishing details. When we hit his style you get the deal regardless.
Any drafts ready guys?

Okay, well, here's my entry. I did only the Business 250 for now since the ads would be the same, with just the text/information changed, so this will allow you to get the look and feel of the ads.
Here's a picture:

Kenneth,
Sure thing. Here you go. The SWF and a TXT file are in the ZIP archive.
Edit: I also added the published HTML file as well as made the banner clickable to "www.rackhosting.com," which this URL can be changed if need be in the future.
Find it here:

Rege
I talked to my client today. He have had a busy time moving servers from one location to another so he had only briefly looked at your entry. He liked the technical quality but thought it was a bit "retro". He would like a bit more exclusive look into it. I kindly asked him to review it one more time in good pace and then resend me his feedback.
Christian
Could you be so kind and send me the sample file so I may present it to my client? Thank you.
Remember, this client holds a very large potential because they plan to launch out into Europe soon and YOUR banners will lead the way. Isn't that cool?
I will return once I have more precise feedback from my client.
Sorry for all the waiting...
Kenneth :-)

Hi guys,
I'm really sorry we haven't been able to wrap this task up yet. It's strange that the client had so much rush in the beginning but now he's like totally unavailable whenever I try to contact him. I called him yesterday but he wasn't in the office. Have now sent him another email with red flags telling him we have to close this job asap or else we need to terminate the coorporation.
Kenneth :(

The winner is Christian
Based on the limited feedback received from my client and speaking to Palmer, I have selected Christian as the winner. His draft came closest to incorporating the dark, high-tech mood my client was initially looking for. This thread can be moved to revisions so we can finalize the 3 banners.
To Adrian, Mehmet and Rege. I sincerely appreciate your hard work and time spend on this. Your entried were of high quality but not excatly what my client was looking for. I honestly hope I can make it up to you guys in the future.
Am I allowed to send Christian a PM now when he has been selected as the winner?
Kenneth,
Yes, you can communicate directly with Christian now.
