View Full Version : Chinese Characters in Logo Designs?

Ran across this site just recently - really impressed by the work going on here - and am thinking of running a logo contest but need to ask this first:
The logo I'm seeking would likely need to include Chinese characters, and I would want to see designs done with the characters in different (and not plain old desktop) Chinese font styles. (MingLiu or SimSun definitely wouldn't cut it.)
Can any designers here handle that, or would I need to provide the Chinese character elements (as images) myself for others to incorporate into their designs? If so, in what file format(s)?
Thanks in advance for entertaining this "window shopping" question.

I would think there are probably Chinese fonts hovering about on the internet..

Iv seen a few Chinese-English dictionaries around the web. If you want traditional ink techniques iv done a bit back in my uni years(last year).
I dunno if this answers your question as its late and im tired, and I dont particularly make much sense when im wide awake. ;)

Mark,
It may be best if you provide the characters in a high res-scan.
Possibly a 300 dpi black?white (Greyscale) .jpg file.
I know I had a bit of a confused moment when drawing the name "Carson".
It translated Car-Sun instead of "Son-of", and all because there was a stroke
going in the wrong direction.
I think the best idea in this scenario would be to provide the images as opposed to going with fonts.
Aside from the fonts, you would also need a secondary application to type in those fonts (ex. Unikey). Even then, working with chinese fonts is a bit trickier than meets the eye... believe me. :)
