View Full Version : New logo for TurfStuff.com - Prize $80
Hello all, (Admin code added by Palmer - 73001E)
I am starting a new logo for a landscape parts and accesorry web site. I am looking for something that looks professional and will be recognizable everytime it is seen. Color is open and I think to make the letters to look grassy is something that I am thinking, but I am open to see whatever is catchy.
There is no time frame for this logo. Thanks for your attention.

It's addictive, isn't it? :)
Once you have your site up, you should come over and talk to me...I can probably make you an offer you can't refuse....
It's a slow process, just getting the wheels rolling now. This place is a good start. Your place will be considered next. :)
Any ideas yet?

Here's the first of many to come
Not bad!!
I have no real idea in mind. The only thing I can think of is grass as a font, but not really sure what that would look like. I guess green would be the primitive color.
Thanks for the entry.

Here's a go...I will have more in a bit. Thanks.
Can we add ".com" somehow inconspiculously (sp)? ^_^

Here's the logo with .com, do you have any feedback? I will continue to work on some more designs. THanks.

Here are some more ideas, thanks!!
Is there anyway to incorporate the grass as the font? Maybe like a grass green and brown color.
How bout a grassy green font with a dirt brown shadow.

Here's my entry....
Let me know what you think,
Thanks,
Martin
I was thinking of a more cartoonish piece of sod looking font.

Something a little different...
I did a search for sod and came up with little. I have a few pictures. I don't mind different pics of something different like J-design did. I am not set on a particular design yet.
Maybe a green grassy top with a dirt bottom.
Any ideas from what I have described? I tried to upload other pieces of sod or even divots for ideas, but they wouldn't upload. -_-

The files were probably a bit too big. If you can make the width and height smaller it usually helps. If that doesn't work you can email them to me and I'll take care of it :)

Hey Palmer, you don't take divots this big do you?

Hey Palmer, you don't take divots this big do you?
Nope :D
Dana you mentioned setting the deadline, have you come up with one yet? I'll let the designers know when you do. :)
I realize with all these contests coming in, the designers are BUSY. I guess another 2 weeks should do it.
Mike, can I try that in a different font and with .com too?
Deadline: July 1st

A couple new fonts and a inconspicuous .com. Only 2 colors.

Since this if for a website, can we go all out, or do you want a simpler look so it can be used in other mediums (e.g print, shirts, etc)?

I love the color clash FTI. I guess I would want to print these on T-shirts as well.
Can we see a font with grass and soil as a part of it?

If I may comment,
You guys are ^%$#@ good. I love coming here to simply watch you pros at work. WOW all...
Oh wow radical seed.
The color just poped at me and said, "I like that!!!!" The brown clashing with the yellow and green to boot.
Can we see some variations of the last one?
Tyler
06-24-2003, 02:09 PM
Are we talking color or layout variations??
I think the color is what I want now. I guess a few layout variations would be cool.
Tyler

Any of these workin for ya??
the third one with a little lower grass on it.
Tyler

 Mowing the grass, mowing the grass.
Now that we have the colors in mind, yellow, green, and brown, we can build on that. Anymore designs with that color and concept will now be taken into consideration.
Guy and Gals,
Impress me!!!!!!
lol
Radicalseed,
I was wondering if you could make the grass on top thinner and lower to the font. The font looks great with the color clash.
I am not to fond of the grass in a box look. LOL sorry.
Fti,
Can I see a couple of variations of your logo? Maybe different fonts or the color yellow in different areas.
FTIGraphix
06-25-2003, 06:01 PM
Sure.
I'll give you some variations tomorrow.
Tyler
06-26-2003, 10:23 AM
OK, 2 styles. One is the same as before with the grass thinned and lowered, and the other has been lowered, thinned and added to.
Not to be picky, but can you make the grass thinner and straighter, Radical seed?
Tyler

Yep. in a flash

No biggie. I am in no rush for this design.
The deadline is July 1st (I think)
Thanks Radicalseed.

Hi Dana,
Here are a few ideas for you to review.
Thanks
- Ed
Nice designs Ed. I like #1 most out of all three. I don't know what it is about this grass, but can it be thinner and stringier? I apologize in advance about the pickiness, guys.

My entry is below. Let me know if you'd like the grass in a different sort of texture.

Nice Sparkie. Is that vector or raster?
sparkie
06-28-2003, 08:11 AM
Raster - but I have software that converts to and from both :)
I kinda like the others more with the color contrast. I do like it though.
I think it is cause there is a shadow border to them.

Ahh, a shadow? Done. :)

Hi Dana.
A few revisions.
Thanks
- Ed
Hey Ed,
Great entries. Can I try that last entry at the top with a brown background on the bottom?
I like how it is squared off. Maybe the ".com" can stay out there by itself without grass or dirt. :)
Dana
Just to be fair, I am waiting on a couple of revisions on a couple of designs. I am still not decided. There are 3-4 designs I am in decision about.
I will make a decision in 2 more days.

Hello all,
I think this contest has been dragged out long enough. I apologize for not picking a winner sooner. I was away for the holidays and neglected to decide before then. I printed all the logos out and decided on one with a few revisions. It was hard to decide.
The winner being.... Ejlain.
The entry is his first logo entry on June 30th without the grass look.
I want to thank all for your entries and want you all to know how much I admire everyone's awesome designs here.
Thanks again.
Dana

Thanks Palmer. I may have a few more contests in the future.
I will contact Ed to cut that grass and to make the bottom border brown with white letters.
Thanks again everyone.
