Hi there,

We need a new logo for our non-profit organization: Strathcona Business Improvement Association (BIA). I've seen some really great logos on this site, so I'm hoping you can help us out. We are just going through a new branding project so this logo will be used on everything...letterheads, website, business cards, business directories, newsletters, etc. We are looking for a professional logo that we can use for many, many years.

About The Strathcona BIA:

The Strathcona Business Improvement Association (BIA) is a non-profit business organization that represents about 450 business and property owners in Vancouver, BC. Our business organization includes a variety of businesses from light manufacturing/wholesale to retail stores.

Our Mission Statement: To maintain a co-operative effort in revitalizing the area of Strathcona by facilitating a safe and vibrant destination to live, work, set up shop and have fun; done through the initiation of innovative programs and strategies to develop the unique characteristics of the area.

We have thought of three words that we would like our logo to represent: UNIQUE, GLOBAL, PROGRESSIVE
-Strathcona has so many different elements: types of business and people. Also, Strathcona is the oldest neighbourhood in Vancouver.
-Many of the businesses in Strathcona are connected to other businesses globally. Many businesses produce goods that are transported out of Strathcona to various regions in the world.
Hopefully we can uses these words to represent the Strathcona BIA & the unique community: stability, the people, types of businesses, unique products, architecture, and the evolution of business.

As for colour, I'll leave it up to you.

Hello Everyone,

Thanks for your submissions so far. They look great! We are so excited!

Tonya: We really like your concept. Could you try putting in a blue colour instead of the orange? We don't really like the sun. Could you try and incorporate a cherry blossom (our street banners have a cherry blossom). Could you also extend the buildings over more to the "t" in Strathcona?

Tyler: We like your colors, however, they seem a bit too dark. We also prefer not as much negative space. If you could incorporate the (BIA) in your logo, that would be great.

Can't wait to see the additions and if you have any ideas, we would love to see them!

Hi Tonya,
Thanks for your revision & hard work :D ! In your original logo, we liked where the 'buildings' started from the left- is it possible to leave the image on that side, and try to arc it more over towards the 't' in Strathcona?
Is there a lighter blue you can use- perhaps a hue that is in between a turquoise or indian type blue?
We really like the buildings, but are afraid that they might look like a deck of cards in the black & white image....is there a way to adjust the roof line of the buildings?
We would also like to see a cherry blossom instead of the sun that is in the first logo that you submitted, or a cherry blossom somewhere in there...

The mountains seem a bit too big/overbearing- can we try different type of mountains?
Can we try a different font as well? :)

I hit a bit of a creative block when trying to work a cherry blossom into the design, so I just tried something else in the meantime. I still plan to go back to that though. I'll address the rooflines too. Thanks for the feedback :)

We're looking for something simple and professional but has a creative edge. We are a business association and we represent a variety of different businesses, i.e. retail, wholesale manufacturing, light industry, etc. We want our logo to show that Strathcona is a good place to do business.
