I need a logo for a new children's dental office. And although it will be a DENTAL office, I'd like to incorporate my two dogs into the logo in a cartoon format. One is golden retriever/cocker spaniel mix (looks more like a golden) and the other is a beagle.

If you can incorporate the two dogs, along with a toothbrush, toothpaste, and a child somehow, that would be great. If there's not enough room for the child, that is ok too. I don't want it to look like it is a vet's office though, so please emphasize the toothbrush and toothpaste, and maybe even a smile/sparkly teeth on the dogs. Please have everything in a cartoon fashion, and not looking too real. You don't have to add any wording, just the CUTE picture.

I will be out of town April 22-May 7, so I'll be unable to comment on the designs or reply to any questions until I get back.

Thank you!

I'm not an illustrator, so I wouldn't be able to handle this; I do have a suggestion, however. Might you consider posting pics of your dogs? That might help the illustrators get it right the first time!

Thank you to those of you who are interested and have submitted and/or are going to submit your illustrations. I am very impressed with what has been submitted so far.

At Julie's great recommendation, I've uploaded a picture of my dogs, so you can get a better idea of what the dogs in the illustration should look like.

All the submissions are very close to what I'm looking for, but there isn't one that incorporates everything I'd like yet. I will reply to each drawing, and hopefully that will help explain what I'd like the drawing to eventually look like.

Paula: Your drawing is very cute. I like the fact that the boy as well as the dogs have a sparkle on their teeth. However, if you can incorporate the toothpaste and toothbrush into the picture, instead of surrounding it, I think that would be better. And, I know I emphasized putting the toothpaste and toothbrush in there, but it doesn't have to be the same size as the boy and dogs.

Mehmet: Your drawing is very cute as well. In fact, the dogs look very much like my own, except the beagle is tri-colored (white, brown, black). I am very impressed so far. Between the two, I like the first one which puts the dogs on either side of the boy. Can you have the boy holding the toothbrush and looking as if he's brushing his teeth, and the one of the dogs standing on the toothpaste, making it squirt out? I'm not sure if this will look better, but I'd like to see your interpretation of that action. Can you also revise the first one to remove the background along with the words "Pediatric Dental Office." Again, I'm not sure if I want to incorporate that into the picture, or under my name at the top of the business card/letterhead, so we can leave it out for now. If I were to incorporate it into the picture, I'd like it to read "Pediatric Dentistry" in a children's font, i.e. comic sans or porky's. On the toothpaste, could you take out the lines and maybe use a little darker color for the word "toothpaste." Lastly, if I were to use this logo on a business card, would the picture be able to fit and still look okay if it's in the corner or middle of the card?

Ron: Your pictures are also very cute. The way the dogs are playing with the toothpaste, and the way the little girl is holding the toothbrush is right on. Between the two, I like the first picture without the background (see my explanation above in Mehmet's remarks). If you could change the color scheme of the dogs to make them look more like the picture I'm uploading. Also, if you could change the girl into a boy, and/or give her blonde hair, without the earring. Aside from the dogs being their natural color, I'd like to stick to a bluish tone, or a more neutral tone with the toothpaste, toothbrush, etc. staying away from bright orange, purple, and green. Lastly, if you can change the expression on the dog's face that has the toothpaste to either smiling or surprised, so that it doesn't look angry.

I hope these remarks help. Again, I really appreciate you guys submitting such awesome work on the first attempt and without pictures of my dogs to go on. Please let me know if there's anything else you need. Thank you.

Hi,
Thanks for your remarks.

Can you have the boy holding the toothbrush and looking as if he's brushing his teeth, and the one of the dogs standing on the toothpaste, making it squirt out? I'm not sure if this will look better, but I'd like to see your interpretation of that action.

Since it is first used by graphixparanoid, I can't use the same idea but I will be working on the boy holding the brush.
If you will use it on a letterhead or businesscard, I recommend using the second one and place it on the left side of your card.

I will be very busy for 2-3 days but I will do my best to post a newer version.

Hi Mehmet,
These revisions look really good. To have a better comparison for myself, could you have the first two originals without the wording in the background like your revisions?
Thanks,

Hi Mehmet,
I'm leaning towards the boy holding the toothbrush (in message #20), but I'm not quite sure how it would look on a business card, in terms of with a white background or with the blue background. How would you recommend doing it? I think you've recommended the blue background, but would it be on a white business card? And, would it be just the image, or with the square blue/white background?
Thanks,
Nhu

Hi,

I see no problem with a business card design.If designer aligns the illustration to the left side , there will be enough and organised space for information on the right side, as in the examples below;

Hi Mehmet,

If you could help me with a few more revisions, that would be great. I tried using your template #2a in message #20 to make a business card, but after shrinking it down to a business card size, everything was blurry. (I'm sure that's not how you're supposed to make a business card anyway, but I was just trying to see what a real one would look like).

So, when you send me the logo, could you have the file in the actual size that it would be on a business card, so I won't lose any clarity to the logo? Or, if there's a way I can alter the design without compromising the quality of the logo, could you tell me how to do it? And, I'll also be using the logo on my letterhead, which would be even smaller than on the business card, so if I could have it in a small, medium, and large size, that would be great. Sorry for being so non-technical about all this, but I have no experience on graphic designing.

As for the revisions to the logo, could you make the following changes:
1) Could you move the word "toothpaste" to the center of the tube, in both logos, in message #20.
2) Could you telll me what font you used for "Pediatric Dentistry" in #2a and #2b in message #24.
3) Message #24: add black to the beagle's back like the one in message #20, move the word "toothpaste" to the center of the tube, and shrink the illustration about 10% so there is a little more room for name, address, and phone number on the right, in all the different business card templates.

Please send me all original and revised drawings in jpeg, and any other file you think will help me make the business card and letterhead.

Thank you very much for your help.

Nhu
