View Full Version : [Project Complete] Logo for web based gaming site. - $200 - May 1th
(Admin code added by Michael - X27822409)
I presently have two seperate web turn-based games which are on seperate domains. I'm going to bring the two games together onto a single common URL:
HTTPGames (http://www.httpgames.com)
Right now theres a placeholder with 2 simple links to the games.
I'm looking for a logo for HTTPGames that is fun and creative. The logo will be used in print as well as on the website (t-shirts for round winners, etc).
The demographics for the site is 14-early 20's males mainly from the US and Canada (if that matters).
Some logo ideas that I did but failed miserably at are:
(used on the deltoria game)
http://deltoria.httpgames.com/images/buttons/menu/http_logo.jpg
(used on the rise to glory game)
http://www.risetoglory.com/images/risetoglory.gif
(new logo that I tried to make for httpgames.com)
http://razm.httpgames.com/images/default/big-logo.gif
and
http://razm.httpgames.com/images/default/header.png
The soft deadline for this logo is May 4th. I'll only extend it if absolutely required (if its allowed to extend deadlines).
Thanks!
To expand on my desires for a logo and hopefully spark some creativity I really liked the concepts in the following few logos that I've done some quick searches for done from the wonderfull and talented crew here.

I'm looking for a logo with a great graphic that isn't neccesarily a part of the lettering. While the lettering is importaint it would be awesome if the lettering could be removed from the logo and people would still be able to know what site the logo represents (assuming they have been to our site before). The selected logo will also be used as an example in two other contests which will be opened after this one closes. One for a logo for Deltoria and another for a logo for Rise to Glory.
Right now all our games are midevil/fantasy - we do have plans for futuristic games in the very near future so please don't think that the logo needs to reflect just those types of games.
Again - thank you for any who are pondering entering this contest. I havn't seen any posts yet but with so many logos due within the next few days I'm sure that you're all very busy.
If you are planning on entering though (even if you're not going to start working on it until next week or whenever) can you please just make a post? It would be nice to know that I've provided the appropriate level of information and have some interest in this project from designers.
Thanks!
Michael

Designers:
The deadline has been brought forward to the 1st May, the client has also deposited further funds, project amount now $200
:)
Is nobody interested in taking on my project? Could I add something to clarify any questions the designers may have? Theres a lot of talent here and I would hate to miss any of it. I've seen other logos offer less and get responses the same day.
On another note. It doesn't need an illistration that can stand out on its own as long as the logo itself stands out, is easy to remember, and has a "gamming" feeling. (blizzards logo for instance) - Thanks!

:) hi
Great couple of entries Jason and Taldo. These aren't quite what I'm looking for but its a great start.
Jason: The design really doesn't jump out at me for something that you'd see on an entertanment/gamming site. The illustration may need some more details perhaps?
Taldo: The lettering is HTTPGames (no space) - I'm not sure if its the font or not though. The "planetary" theme like I had in my attempts works as well. Can the illustration perhaps have some more detail?
All: I'm not sure I mentioned it already or not but there is no color scheme setup yet so feel free to be bold and not confined by whats on the games already. The existing colors on the site will be adjusted to match the selected logo.
Thanks for your entries! Its nice to see some action in my thread. Thanks :)

:)
Taldo: Great 2nd submission - definatly a huge leap over the first one. Still a little bland though for what we're looking for. perhaps a design thats less cartoony? More like ID Software, Blizzard, etc style logos?
All: A co-admin for the site (the content admin for deltoria) had this to say:
What I/We are looking for is not a genre specific product. We want a logo that will incorperate our brand (httpgames.com) and the idea that we can encompase the universe. A science/fantasy feel is fine, but we are looking for a sense of wonder and exploration in our Logo. Httpgames will be the vehicle of gaming pleasure for our clients.
Great job! Keep them comming!
No one likes my project :(
For some ideas check out blizzard and ID Softwares logos. I can do without a highly detailed illustration and go with that for the game logos I'll need to do in the future for each game. I'll scale back my HTTPGames request to an illustration if you can do it with some text or just some really nice text with some flare and gaming style to it.
To throw out some ideas for things. It should look like the games will be full of adventure. the theme can be planetary "worlds" like we have going on so far or adventure through a jungle, plains, mountains, whatever. Travel almost? our deltoria game's concept is that you walk over a tile based map and fight critters, etc. rise to glorys concept is that you build up a kingdom and attack other players kingoms (orcs, elves, that kinda thing).
Perhaps a logo with some text work and a mountain in the background with a small group of travelers on it? (or the outline?) just an idea to spark some interest in this project.

One from me...
Thanks,
Deanna
great entries!
some feedback.
artemii: The mountain may take up too much space and it has the feel of camping instead of gaming and adventuring. Could you change the mountain and remove the pack off the person and maybe just have him with a staff? (like a wizard?)
shnickerdoodle: I love the design but the mountain climbers (with the rope hanging down) doesn't strike a gaming chord with me. Could you change that part of the logo?
Mark: The lettering may be too simple. Could you maybe add something too it? I like Blizzards and ID Softwares logo - even though they're text only they're memorable.
All: I've never thought about splitting HTTP and Games apart. I've always had them together but now that I see it in the logos split into 2 lines feel free to try that out. If its on the same row though it shouldn't have any space.
Thank you much for your submissions and I anxiously await some updates and maybe some new submissions as well. Remember to keep that adventure feeling and even a rustic/midevil feeling would be nice to see from someone so theres something to compare with. Thanks! All the submissions speak volumes of the talent thats here.

All - Thank you for the updates for those of you who did updates and the new submissions as well. I was concerned for a while that there was no interest in my project but it looks like I should just learn to be patient! Awesome work here! Theres quite a few really good logos to pick from. I'm going to post the URL to this thread onto the gaming sites and let players come up with suggestions and ideas of their own and I'll post them up here later tonight as their opinions mean a lot to me. If you have updates in the works please don't hesitate to post them.
Alex: Very nice submission. The only thing I can think of is perhaps another object on that platform to the left of the text. Perhaps a small block castle or an adventurer? (just an idea). The small tower with the ball on it might be good as well too - I just like options :) I love the colors too.
Tyler: Sorry but the design doesn't quite strike out at me for the site. :( Could you try another stab at it though? The text should read HTTPGames (or HTTP on one line and Games on another). http:// and games might throw people offf. Thank you for that option though.
Mark: Very good! The blue slash for the H might stand out a little too much on a white background though. Can you show it with all the colors on a white background? The 2nd T also throws the balance off for me - I love the design and the look of the lettering though - definatly on the right track!
Castell: I like the logo quite a bit and can't think of anything to change but I'm sure someone else at the site will :) I will let you know what feedback I get and post it up later this afternoon. If you want to make any tweeks to it or put up a couple more options please do.

Hello!
Here's a revised version.
What do you think?
Artemii.
Awesome! Thanks for the additional posts. I've been getting a LOT of feedback from the players.
Alex: Can you make the lettering flow together as one word without the space?
Mark: The logo has gotten some good responses from the player community and I love the look but my only concern is how it looks on white and how it would look on a T-Shirt. Is there anyway you can keep that feel with more solid colors? (if not thats okay - no harm in asking though I hope hehe)
Artemii: Some of the players like the wizard climbing the mountain and associated it to the uphill grind of leveling. Others didn't. Do you have anything else you can throw into the mix to spice it up?
Castell: Can you apply the same style with the shadow to the graphic G above the HTTPGames? Other than that change (which might not fly - we'll have to see. I'd have to say its pretty good as is. (the players say the same thing too).
If you would like to see the comments left by the players you may view them at (I would post them here but it would be a REALLY long message):
http://www.httpgames.com/designoutpost.php
If you need some ideas theres some ideas in there as well. This page pulls directly from the forums. Some of the players can be a little harsh so put on your shell and read the comments with a huge grain of salt.

:D Very cool feedback!
Thank you for the update mark. Not sure I like it on white once its there. The red just doesn't work for it. Any other ideas with what could be done with the logo for different background colors?
Alex: Not sure if your keeping up on the thread. Can you post your logo with the HTTPGames put together without the space and maybe just swap the castle on the platform to the left with something else? (keep the platform though - I love the platform idea with the flag).
Tyler: Thanks for the submission. I'm not quite sure about the lettering on the HTTP part. the plain black. How would that look with simular lettering througout? Thanks!

I'm working on a new submission :)
I was'nt too fond of it either. I think the the previous one with the white lettering is much better. That one will look good pretty much on any background color you put on it including white. ;)
