I'm looking for a logo or identity for a new church plant. Oak Leaf Church will reach the northwest comminity of Atlanta, and target 18-40 year olds. We're looking for something professional and contemporary, not religious or churchy.
Our mission is to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Chirst. The word "grow" is key, and it factored into our name choice.
We're looking for something 2-3 colors. Obviously, it would be easy to play off the name, but we want something creative.

trysen,
i like the last design, maybe without the dots..the leaf, dots and underline maybe seemed like too much. I'd also like to see some different treatments of the leaf, and maybe some deeper colors. good initial design though.
keep them coming everyone.

:D Here is a new concept with a different leaf i was going for a modern look. I have also taken the time to work on the staionery. Click Here! (http://img120.echo.cx/img120/4840/olcstaionery7mh.jpg) to view the preview.
Thank you,

Thanks for all the work guys. I'm just not seeing anything that jumps out at me yet.
So far I like Trysen's design the best. I can't really put my finger on it, but it doesn't really communicate to me. Maybe I am looking for something a little more professional rather than contemporary.
I want to logo to communicate more than just "oak leaf". Our mission is "leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ" so I'd like to do something with "growing," "leading" or "people."

 Sorry that you haven’t found what you are looking for. Maybe that whole thing where you wrote you didn’t want anything churchy on it. Well here is something. I added no color at this point so you can see the concept and not the color.
What’s wrong with mine? for example the leaf the circle background? Just things to point out so i know what path to take. Maybe you can post other logos you seen arround that you like? Stuff like this helps us alot.
Thank you,
Trysen

aaron...i really like the idea of something inside the leaf, but a steeple is a little too churchy for me. i like the fact that it does something fresh with the leaf. Also, the font seems a little thick...maybe something a little more elegant.
trysen...your second design with the ripple is nice...i like how it adds a little effect. i think the words oak leaf should stand out more than "church"

Aaron,
Youre on to something. I think the cursive font with the Oak Leaf brings a little elegance and the red makes it a little contemporary.
See what you can do with your 2nd design. Maybe make it a little less wide. How about some type of winding road going through the leaf...to signify "leading people..."

Aaron,
Let's go with design one...maybe no shadow on the leaf, and a red and black combinations.
On the font, the font from desigs 2 and 3 is nice, except I like the O from the first font.
we're getting close...thanks for all your hard work!

Congrats Aaron, Good Work!
Trysen, I think you've missunderstood. I don't see anywhere that the client has chosen a winner.

I haven't made up my mind yet, though there has been some good recent activity.
Aarons design is nice...combining elegance with a non-traditional color. I love the font.
Feel free to enter another concept Trysen.
I will make a decision sometime in the next few days.
Thanks for the hard work everybody. I posted a couple of other simple projects too.

Aaron,
On the latest revisions, #1, how about the word "church" back on there? I definitely like the 2 color versions too.
Thanks,

aaron,
i think church needs to go underneath oak leaf, as to not make the design too wide?
any other suggestions or ideas?

There's a couple of things we could do with it. Horizontal (which I don't think is too wide done this way), or stacked. ;)
stude
05-13-2005, 01:08 PM
yea, i agree that horizontal is no good. I think "church" should be in the other font (message 26) and red.
I think this design is very nice. You want to take a crack at a business card and letterhead/envelope for some extra $$?
I'm going to go ahead and declare Aaron the winner and we'll finish things up. Thanks for your good work. I posted a couple of other very simple projects, I'd love for you to take a look.
Thanks,
Michael

Thanks Michael...glad you like it. We can talk about a business card layout too, if you'd like.
Let's nail the logo design down first and we can tackle the business card later... how's this?

i like it...i wonder if the word church shouldnt be a little more spread out across the bottom. it might have to drop down below the "L" which would be do far. it just doesn't seem to fit anywhere. we're getting close.

Aaron,
The last design is really good. Based on some feedback from others, let's try one last thing. Attached is a sample that a friend did, which is a little too corporate. Let's try a simple looking leaf but make it red. It may be too much with your font (which I like) Also try an orange.
After this last revision, I'll make a final choice and we'll be done.
Thanks!

By "simple" oak leaf, what would you like to see? would you like me to modify my leaf to more closely resemble your friend's, or mimic the road design, or something else? ;)

Trysen...Thanks for your entry. It's nice. I think the leaf is perhaps too dominant. The fonts are good.
Aaron...I'm in love with the font and the colors, just wanted to take one more stab at the leaf. It just is missing a little something...can't put my finger on it. I don't know if a leaf more in the style of the one I posted would be better or not, or the road in leaf might look good. I think maybe the leaf needs to be a little more defined or crisp, matching the professional style of the font used in the word "church." does this make any sense at all?

Thank you everyone.

The top design is the most current preferred layout; I cleaned up the leaf a bit in the bottom two designs, as well as adjusted the placement of the leaf. I'll do another in a moment with the road added back in.
Thanks!

Aaron,
i want to thank you for your patience and hard work and trying out all my ideas. I do think the one right before these last revisions is the best. (message 32). It's very classy and contemporary. Let's make that the final design. You can send the original file, and if you could send some versions for the web and print, as well as something with a transparent background, that would be great.
Thanks,
Micahel
