Hello everyone,
Our parent company www.teamspeakhost.com has just been approved to sell a VOIP program known as ventrilo (http://www.ventrilo.com/). Instead of merging this software into our current website, we have decided to launch a new identity known as VentriloHost.
What will be needed from the Design Outpost commmunity:
Project Type: New Logo
Amount Offered: $150.00 USD
Deadline: May 6th 2005 12:00 a.m. EST
Choose Winner: Within 24 hours of closing
Logo Use: Website, print material, tshirts, etc
Logo Main Text: VentriloHost
Logo Small Text (Slogan): A division of TeamSpeakHost Inc.
Logo Colors: None specified. Creative freedom. We'll be basing our color choices for the website from the logo.
- We'd like to see the title "VentriloHost" kept together (no seperating space).
- As well, we like having each word in a seperate constrasting color (example: current logo for www.teamspeakhost.com)
In terms of design ideas, we're really open for anything. I was thinking maybe doing some form of 3d effect with the the initials VH and then having the title to the right with the slogan under it, but I'll leave it up to you guys!
Our core audience is male in gender and ranges from 15-50 in age. Almost 100% of our client base will be purchasing this service to use with their computer gaming.
I did have a look around the DO portfolio and found these two logo's which seemed to impress me.
http://www.designoutpost.com/gallery/data/1c383cd30b7c298ab50293adfecb7b18/44_p149.jpeg
- Not a big fan of the font used, but the 3d effect on the initials is quite nice

- I love everything about this logo. The colors are great and I'd say the fonts do their job
Anyways guys and gals, do let me know if I missed any important information. I look forward to seeing what people come up with and I promise to provide as much feedback as possible!

Jeff Piper

Sorry if I'm being a pain ;) Did I happen to miss something in my first post or should I just be more patient? Just wondering why I haven't seen or heard anything yet.

I'll be entering a design in this contest.
I'm sure you'll begin to get more entries as the deadline nears :)
Thanks,Paula

Thanks Paula :) As you can tell I'm new so I wasn't exactly sure what to expect from this process. Thanks for the heads up.

Good evening everyone,
First off let me apologize for not noticing these entries earlier. For some reason my subscription to this thread doesn't seem to working (moving on...).

When I first saw this logo, I was impressed. The overall look and feel of it flows quite nicely and is quite pleasing. If you don't mind, I am going to request one change for now. The slogan text is a good size, but I am not really liking the font too much. Would it be possible to choose a font that feels more "professional"? Basically something like a boring 'ol verdana, arial or something else you may have. The font for the title is perfect ;)
As well, if you don't mind, would it possible to see the logo done in a shade of blue rather then orange?
castell
Overall I think the logo achieves what it needs to, but for our target market, I just don't find it "impressive" enough. I really don't mean that to be bad, but just a good word to use :)
A couple of things that seem to stand out at me:
- I find the logo text to be a little on the boring side. Maybe you could try using a mixture of fonts (1 for each word) or even just a different font for both words. I don't want to tell you how to design, but in it's current state, the font is a little bland.
- Could I see the slogan added in under the title?
- Lastly, could I get an explanation of the logo? I do like it, but really can't figure out what it represents or means. If someone was to quickly look, it almost looks like a rose.
I'll wait for your reply and then we can move forward.
Bill
The overall design is nice. I do have a couple of revision requests which can be found below:
- The VH initials are a good start, but I'd like to see if you could possibly combine the VH somehow. I find there current look to be slightly boring. The font and color are fine if you'd like to stick with them or you can continue to experiment.
- In the title, you've forgotten the letter "T" in "ventrilo".
- I really like the title text as is. I know I keep mentioning playful, etc but I think if you could manage to do something with the initials more, this current title will look quite nice beside it.
- Lastly, I think we'll proceed forward without the headset on the H. Definately a good idea, but with the amount of VOIP hosts increasing I think something like that will become overused.
Well everyone, I sure hope I provided enough feedback. If anyone needs anything else, please let me know. As well, if I just caused mass confusion, I apologize :D

Jeff Piper

Good work! I think we're going to leave that for now as we're quite pleased.

I really like this concept! The font used for the title and the slogan are very nice. I think I like the first concept a little better in regards to the text, but I like the logo from #2 better.
As well, would it be possible to see this in a more vibrant shade of blue?
Thanks so much everyone,
Jeff

Thanks so much for doing the changes. All I ask for is one final thing... if you could please take the 3rd logo from the top (from your most recent entry) and show it alone along with a black and white version. I think we'll then call your entry complete as myself and partner like it a lot.
Still looking forward to more submissions from everyone!

I really like all the versions you've shown on Version 3. I can't see anything that needs changing and I'd consider yourself a strong contender for the prize money so far.

#5 is dead on. Consider that a 2nd entry we'll be giving heavy consideration. Now one thing I have to ask ;)
Did you mean for that to look like two faces facing each other or was it meant to be two eyes?
Paula23
Thanks you very much for your entry.
1. I'm not really liking the "overall" look of the logo. I find the colors slightly bland and the feel to be more cliparty.
2. Could we maybe try doing something different then the initials. Currently looks like a photoshop filter...
3. I like the font and the font effects on the title. Just maybe some more contrasting colors.
4. The title should read "VentriloHost". I'd like the V and H in uppercase.
5. Could you add the slogan in?
Thanks everyone,
Jeff Piper

Hey mate... thanks for the entry. Not sure if you'll even have enough time to complete this, but I do have some revisions if you fancy doing them ;)
1. The initials just doesn't work for me. At the moment it reminds me more of a V with dumb bells (weights)... Maybe just try a completely new concept for the initials!?
2. I like the font you've chosen for the text. Unfortunately I find the yellow a little hard on the eyes, so maybe something that works with the black font and white bg better?
3. Can you add the slogan in as well?
Thanks,
Jeff

Anyone care to explain how I would go about doing the following:
11) When you have decided which designer will complete your project, go to your project on the forum, click on the link 'A Designer has been chosen' this can be found below your project and above the quick reply box. Clicking this link will add the folowing to your project title [Designer Chosen]. Once you have done that click the "Reply To Topic" button and in the big gray box click your mouse, thank everyone for entering and then type the name of the designer you have chosen to work with. Then click the Submit Reply button.
We DO have a winner chosen, but would rather do this correctly so we don't cause any confusion.

Hi Jeff,
You can just reply with the designers name. If you can't find the "A Designer has been chosen" link (which is right under this post), we will take care of it for you.

Myself and my partner would like to thank everyone who took the time out of their busy schedules to draft up some logo's for us. We really thought all the logo's turned out extremely professional, but in our minds there was always one that stood above the rest...
eziey's #5 draft has been chosen as our logo

Nope! I think we're good to go. Could you possibly send it over in multiple formats, sizes and with white bg and transparent?
This will be used for web, print, etc, etc so send over whatever we need.
