[Project Complete] Logo needed for trading company

Hello to all the really incredible talented designers here on Design Outpost...
Before I post my requirement I just wanted to congratulate you guys on all the amazing work that you guys have put out. There are some really incredible designs that I have seen and thats why I am here, to try to pick at your creative minds to come up with something great. Hope you guys can turn it on and help me out.
We are looking for a logo that is going to be used on our website, business cards, letterheads, envelopes, signage, promotional materials (t-shirts, hats, etc)
Typically we are going to be targeting very large companies so we need a very solid corporate image.

1. Company name: Aracan Group
2. Company slogan: don't have one but open to suggestions if you guys can think of something creative.
3. Company description: It's a brand new import/export startup company. There is no real focus on any kind of particular product. It could be anywhere from food products to construction materials, from electronics to packaging products. Basically if there is a need or demand for a certain product we will try and go after it and fill it.

eziey - we still prefer the ARACAN GROUP from the previous post ( the GROUP without the grey background) as far as the logo itself it just didn't do it for us. We have seen you come up with a lot better designs. We would appreciate if you could try something different.

This logo has been used for AmoscoCorp Contest but not chosen.
I think it is suitable for your business. It is a combination of 3 boxes and form a unique A shape in the middle of them.
Never send your retail items without boxes:)

eziey - much better, logo is definitely heading in the right direction. Not sure about the colour combination though. Also really like the fading colour effect on the bottom. Could you please try a few different colour variations, one of them being orange and grey. Thank you.

unorthodox - very nice, thank you for your submission. We all felt that version 1 was more towards what we are looking for. You're definitely headed in the right direction. The symbol I used is an abstract representation of a tilted "A". It also depicts a "road" that will lead to new frontiers. :)

Jsanqunetti - thank you for your submission. Unfortunately that isn't the direction we had in mind. It just seems a bit too plain, really not making an impact. If you would like to give it another shot please feel free.

Unorthodox - we like both the fonts you have used for version 1, aracan and GROUP. Is it possible to see Aracan Group both in lower case that you used for aracan and in upper case that you used for GROUP instead of mixed the way you have it. Also we are still divided about the symbol A. Maybe a different variation on that might help. Thanks!

eziey - we have requested version 6 in a few different colour variations and if one of those colour variations could be orange and grey.

Unorthodox - if you could please make a few changes to version 1 as we had requested (posted in message 20) we are quite intersted in how it will look

Jsanqunetti - Don't know if it could be described as "a little less corporate" but eziey's version 1,2 and 6 and Unorthodox's version 1 are sort of the look that we're after. If you read the client comments it might give you a little bit of help :)

Artemii - Not sure if it's the font or colour combination that's too bold. It's just a little too loud. Maybe might not be that way on business cards. Also the three diamonds, we like the simplicity of it but it's not something that is original and created particularly for us. I hope I have been able to help you understand :)

Artemii - thank you for your new submissions. We liked the text in version 4 but were trying to figure out if the orange shape represented an A or was there another meaning behind it. Also the shapes in versions 2 and 3 what do they depict or represent

Unorthodox - thank you for making the changes. We all preferred the uppercase version 4.The logo that you have on the left, I see the uppercase G in the symbol, is that a lower case a that circles it or is that another symbol. And we liked the logo in version 5, what does that symbolize ... sorry about all this but thats why we hire you guys because you see what we don't :)

The thing is that I'm deeply convinced, that the logo should have an absolutely obvious meaning or non at all.
I mean, what good is from the logo if it's meaning is understood only by few people - the designer, who created it and maybe the client. It's useless, unless it's memorabil!
So, that's the point of a logo to my opinion! It has do be unique and memorabil, but it doesn't have to represent or mean something. It's not bad if it does, but it's not a must.
That's what I think.
Anyway, the symbol in my 4th submission is a stylized "A", you were right.

Artemii - you are correct about a logo making an impact and being memorable. However, we all feel that instead of the logo having no meaning at all, we would prefer that if our clients were to ask us what does the logo represent, we can have an answer as opposed to saying, it means nothing :)
So, as much as your logos look interesting, we were looking for the logo to mean or represent something.
By the way your English is fine ... we all understood you ;)

eziey - thank you for your new submission. Very nice. Is that a stylized A or is that a red G making part of an A? Could you please add the watermark effect in Version 7 like you did in Version 6.
Also if you could give me a few more colour variations on Version 6, one of them having orange and grey. Thanks!

Yes you are correct in that first symbol (logos 4 and 3)... For logo 5, it symbolizes two people reaching out for each other's hands (as in trading and connecting).

Tonya – thank you for your entry. We liked the font you used for ARACAN GROUP but felt there was no ummph in the symbol. We weren’t quite sure if it was the colour of the logo or the shape itself. Maybe if you want to try more of a vibrant colour or maybe even two different colours. If you could also please explain the symbol to us it would be appreciated.

Mark – thank you for your submission. We are sorry but it’s just not what we were looking for. Again, we were not too sure of mixing the uppercase and lower case together and the colours didn’t do it for us.

Eziey – thank you for all the revisions and colour variations. We like Version 6, Version 7 and Version 8. Could you please present version 8 the same way you presented Version 6, and one with the colours switched around so that you have the boxes in orange and also include the “fading effect” on the bottom. We were trying t visualize Version 6 as a business card but didn’t know how the bottom fading effect would play a part, so if you could give us a visual that would really help us.

Fabian – thank you for your submission.. It is definitely an interesting logo but we weren’t too crazy about the font.. We liked the concept of putting two A’s on the side but something about the colour or the effects that you have on the colour throws us off (the white line going vertical in the middle)

Unorthodox – thank you for making that change. Would it be possible if we can see this last version in orange and grey and orange and black? Finally, if it doesn’t require too much time, we would like to see it in a form of a business card.

Changed the angle of the logo to better represent my concept,ill explain.

The bottom arrow angle downward to represent it has a landing point (import)

The top arrow is angle upwards to show that's going away (export)

Artemii – thank you for taking another shot at it. We just feel that you are not hitting the mark. It’s not quite what we had in mind or what we were after. Once again we really appreciate your time and effort. :)

Fabian – thank you for your revision, much better. We need a few changes. First if you could change the font of ARACAN to the same font that you used in GROUP. Finally if you could have the arrows shifted so that the red arrow is parallel to ARACAN instead of the whole thing being diagonal.

eziey – thank you, it looks very good. You showed the version 14 with grey Aracan and orange boxes, but in the business card you show both in white. This is the only change we required before we made the final decision. If you could somehow incorporate the fading effect into version 14 so that we could still have Aracan in grey and the boxes in orange. Also please don’t forget if we were to try and match the letterhead to the sample business card you showed in version 14 it would be difficult to have the grey watermark effect unless you can show us a way.

Unorthodox – thank you, just as we had requested. Just require a small change. For some reason the orange that you are using appears as yellow when we are viewing your submissions. Initially we thought that it was intentional on your part. However after requesting orange and grey and orange and black in our last post, we noticed that it still appears as yellow when we view it. So we need to see a true orange if I can put it that way.

First of all I would like to thank all the designers who took the time to participate in this contest. You guys didn’t make it easy to make a decision. Now we have first hand experience why we came looking for talented designers on Design Outpost. You guys are truly part of a great team. We were divided between a few entries because of the meanings behind some and because of the look behind the others. So overall it wasn’t easy. It’s too bad that only one winner can be declared.

We have selected eziey with his entry 14 as the logo for our company. This logo basically brought it all together for us. We liked the look, the simplicity and the colour combo. Congratulations eziey on a job well done and Thank You!!!

Hello eziey, the printing company was asking us if it's two colours or more?

As far as revisions, we're pretty happy with what we have in version 14. Our only concern is that ARACAN might look a little small when it is brought down to a business card size.

Business card – could you please make a business card like you did in version 14 except make it to real size dimensions ( I think it’s 3” by 1 ¾“) so that we can see how ARACAN is in proportion to the card

The back- could you please move the logo to the left and the writing to the right

The front – if you could raise the grey watermark logo so we can see the bottom left corner of the logo. (I think that problem might be solved if we see it in real size) and I guess we don’t need the www in front as we already have it in the back.

eziey, thank you for the quick response, you forgot to respond to the first question. We needed to know if it's two colours or more. Looking at it I would say three colours (orange grey and black) but when I was speaking to the printer he said that the grey could be a toned down verion of black making it cheaper to print two colours. Let us know.

Also you removed www from the back ... we asked it to be removed from the front with the grey band on the bottom. :)

Finally if you could have the diagonal line (back of card) coming from the bottom left corner instead of the side.

eziey that's perfect, but again you forgot to lift the logo on the back of the card so that the diagonal line comes out of the bottom left corner, maybe you might have to make the logo just a little bit smaller so that the diagonal line fits in the corner and without pushing the left logo over the top of the card... thanks!

As long as I'm concerned, this contest is just for logo.
If you need the business card also, you need to fund another $40 to the contest price as my price is $40 for business card design. Please advise:)

Hello eziey, sorry I didn't get back to you earlier. I didn't realize when I posted my last message that on Monday it was Victoria Day in Canada and that everything was closed. Anyway, I spoke to the printer and the person that does embroidery on the hats and thet wanted the files in different formats. These are the formats that they have requested the files in ... eps, jpeg, quark, illustrator 9 or 10. Thanks eziey!
