Hello all,
I am looking for a corporate logo for a new software company named Mobility Logic to be used on stationary, business cards and eventually a website. The company will specialize in creating business software (sales force automation and customer management systems) tailored for specific industries, and especially involving a mobile component such as Pocket PCs. The software will be taking businesses into the future, giving them accessibility to critical data while away from the office and a way to streamline previously tedious and manual tasks.
The design should convey innovation, freshness, and professionalism. I don't want a look thats too conservative, but also nothing too wild. I think I will prefer blues but I'll consider any color scheme.
I liked alot of the work from this thread
http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6918&page=1&pp=30
particularly castell's #25 message. This is just an example, I'm not saying to use only those types of designs. The sample business card and letterhead would be a big plus, although it does not have to be intricate, just something clean and professional that incorporates the logo and color scheme.
I think I would prefer something abstract rather than trying to incorporate a pocket PC graphic of some sort, but I'll leave it up to you to try to find something that works.
I'd like to have all the original graphics files so that I could modify if needed. Needs to be in a format suitable for any type of professional printing. If transparency is used, then PNG or Photoshop formats as well.
To summarize:
<b>Business Name:</b> Mobility Logic
<b>Amount:</b> $175
<b>Deadline:</b> May 19
Thanks!

Good start! I like the font but I'll have to wait on some more ideas to really know what I'm looking for. Initially though, the designs are both good.

Thanks for the entries!
Unorthodox: Not sure if I like the red. The design is just not coming across right for me, maybe something smaller?
Davegk: interesting concept, it is a little too busy for me though. I might prefer the name uppercased also.
eziey: #2 and #3 look really nice, I might prefer #2, the forward movement and kind of a symbolish look seems to go with logic and computer code. Don't care for #4, #1 is not bad but something about the circle just isn't exactly what I'm looking for. Maybe some variations? These are on the right track.

Using a hi-tec "M" to represent software creation and data management.
Looking forward to your feedback

Fabian, thanks for the design! I like the colors and the gradients. I think I might like the words to both be the same size, but I'm not positive about that. Not sure about the broken M, sort of doesn't look strong enough for me. A variation on this might work though.
eziey, those designs (6-9) are great, i think 8 is the best but not sure yet on the colors. Not sure if i would rather have something simple or a design with some gradients.

fabian, i like the second design with the logo on the left. I still am not crazy about the circle and that style of M. I'm not sure exactly what to change about it, but I like the font.
Jason, I'll have to think about this some more but initially I think it is a little too much on the conservative side for me. Not bad though.
eziey, Can't decide if I like the gradients or the solid better, but I like the design of #2 the best. Can I see some color variations?

I'm going to extend this deadline 1 week, so 5-26.
Fabian, I like this design, but I have a tough time making out an M. Maybe some variation on the logo portion would work though.
Eziey, thanks for the variations. I might want to see some other changes, but I'm not sure exactly what yet. Check back for comments later.
Skyvee, thanks for the submission. This design looks good, but something about it just isn't coming across exactly how I'd like. It is a solid first entry though, a variation might work.
Jason, thanks for the design but it isn't exactly what i'm looking for. A little too abstract for me.
Thanks!

I just don't seem to be getting what I'm looking for here. Most of these designs are too busy, I'm looking for something simple but not too conservative. The ones I like the best are still just not right, I think it might be the use of space that I'm not liking. Meaning if you draw a box around everything, I think all the elements should sit well and work together. For instance, Eziey #2, I think this logo is too big for the text, #4 the use of space I'm talking about is good, but just not the right logo. Maybe the stacked text works better, and maybe with the #2 M or a variation on it. Fabian, message #18, the lettering is great, but don't feel the logo compliments it like I want. Maybe it is too big, or just not the right design for the lettering. I'm looking for something where the logo and text really fit each other.
Mark, thanks for the submission. I don't think the lowercase text looks right to me in this design. Looking for something stronger.
I have seen alot of designs that I like in the other threads so I know the talent is here. Hopefully I have explained more clearly what it is I'm liking/not liking about these designs so far. I've extended the deadline to try to get some more ideas in, so it is now until May 26th.
Thanks!

Unorthodox, I don't see these designs working for me, thanks for the submissions though.
Eziey, this is looking better, but I'd like to see another version where the logo is not as thick and bold as it is. I don't know if this can be done without making it look bad, but I just think something that more matches the "Mobility" font, maybe not too much thicker than that, would look better to me. But I like the basic idea you have here. Also, I'd like to see the logo lowered to be more on line with the text.

Eziey, you may have misunderstood, I was trying to say I thought the colored areas around the M were too thick, I think you made them thicker by making the M thinner. So maybe a thicker cut out M and smaller logo, but I'm not exactly sure. The original colors, like 23, look the best to me. Still not sure about the logo placement, I'll have to think about it.
Barbie, these just aren't in the style that I'm after, sorry!

Eziey, thanks for the quick response! I like this design but just can't decide on it for sure yet. Thanks for the revisions, this is what I was looking for with the thinner logos (logo on the left is the way to go, I just wasn't sure on the vertical placement). I'll be considering it.

DesignGeneral, thanks for the submission. Not sure exactly why but it's just not what I'm looking for. It is a great looking design though.
castell, thanks for the entries! I like the concept of using the M and L together like that, but the designs just aren't coming across right to me. In the first one, I'm not sure about the red and blue only, I think I might prefer black in there somehow. And in the second one I like the colors, but I'm not sure I like the liquid concept too much. Overall, I think I like the concept of the first design better, but just not exactly as they are. Thanks!
skyvee, I like this better than the first design, but I still don't see it working for me. Thanks!

Here is another variation :)
I liked my previous entry with the "M" made from the plans the blue "L" in middle and the "M" made by the negative white space between the plans.
All of those suggest mobility and ability to arrange elements in a logic way to deliver the desired result.
This logo is a combination of data moving, a binary system and finally, the symbol itself is a representation of M and L, in morse code. The idea being an integration of the first "handheld" communication device and the bridge to your company creating solutions for modern communication devices.

Carl, thanks for the design, I like it! So far I like it the best, although it would need some revisions to get it just right.
Thanks everyone for all the hard work! There were some great designs here, and I have been having a tough time trying to figure out exactly what to go with. As of now, I am really liking Carls design. So unless someone can really come up with something great, I will probably be picking this one. I'll post again tomorrow morning with a definite winner.
Thanks again for all the hard work and great designs!
Carl, I'll give you some initial impressions I have. First of all, I need something that will work without any taglines, but in this design it seems that without the "smart solutions" the logo is not as balanced. So I'd like to see some other configurations of text and logo placement and sizing. In fact, although there will be one main design, I think that it should be able to work in a few different arrangements. I like the "logic" being thinner the way that it is, but maybe you could try some versions where it is as bold as "mobility". Also, I don't really like the Y being cut off so much. So basically, I like the text and logo idea but it just isn't perfect the way it sits. Thanks for this design though, I am really liking it!
Revisions. I played with the text and placement.

castell, thanks for the new ideas! These are not bad, I like #3 the best. I'll have to give this some more thought. Thanks again!
Carl, a few comments
#2 I'm not sure about the balance of the whole thing. Not sure what to change, I'll have to look at it some more.
#3 I'd like to see one similar but with "logic" to the right, with the C aligned with the bottom of the Y. Also, try "logic" in the same style that you had originally. I'm not sure if the logo would look better far under the M like you have it, or a bit more off to the left.
#4 I like the "mobility" from the original design better than the thicker type you have for 4, 5,6
#5 Try putting both words in the same style as "mobility" from your first design. It might look good with the words almost together since they are different colors. Then try a smaller logo centered above.
#6 Not sure if I like this idea.
If you can come up with another round of revisions based on these suggestions I think that would be enough for me to decide on this design. I'm leaning towards it but I need a couple more looks to know for sure.
Thanks!
Jeff,
Here you go.

I want to say thanks to all the designers so far for your efforts, it has been appreciated! I have decided to be very picky for this contest and after seeing these designs I think I can describe what I'm looking for more clearly. So to compensate all you talented designers for this <b>I am increasing the contest to $350.</b>
<b>1. Font</b>
The fonts I've liked the best so far are Carl's #47, and Fabian's #44. I like the G in both since its not the standard G with the tail. The lettering will be a big part of the logo and I don't want it to look like I could have just made it easily with a common font. I'm not saying it should be custom drawn, just that it have at least some element of styling or something to give it its own touch. Or maybe just some great font I don't know about :). All uppercase seems to look the best to me, but I'm open to just first letters uppercased. If the text is all on one line, I like the designs where the words are different colors, or maybe black plus a color. In those cases sometimes it looks good to have the text running together but seperated with the color, just as an idea. Stacked text might work also.
<b>2. Logo</b>
I really prefer something that has some meaning to it, even if it is just simply movement of some sort, or something to convey a high tech feel somehow. The main thing is that it needs to match the lettering very well. Placement should be either on the left or top of the text. I'm prefering the simpler designs that are not very busy. Something creative! :D As a whole, the design needs a nice polished, smooth look.
<b>3. Balance</b>
I am looking for a design that is strong, anchored well and balanced, and not appearing like the logo and text are falling over, or that it is squashed together with the lettering or too far apart. Also, something that makes good use of space so that if you draw a box around everything there is not too much empty space in one place, or some piece that is bulky or sticking out too much.
<b>4. Colors</b>
So far I prefer the darker blue or purple. Still open though.
Thanks again for the participation so far! There have been some good designs, but I see alot more that I like in the other threads! So hopefully the extra money will get some more designs here, and hopefully I have described better what I'm after.
Carl, I almost went with your design, I like the morse code idea and the text/colors. A-9 is the best of the revisions but I just couldn't close the contest down for it. I'm not ruling it out though either, or at least some version of it. Good work!
Thank you all!!!

Jeff,
I took the original idea and tried to make it more fluid. I also integrated an "M" into the morse code icon, and smoothed the icon out by making the image more rounded.
I also embellished a different font to give it a unique feel.

Some comments,
Mark, thanks for the submission, I'm just not sure about the design, it is not bad but not working for me.
Sarah & Bill, I'm just not feeling these 2 designs but I appreciate the submissions, thanks!
Fabian, I like this one the best of your designs. I'd really like to see a couple other ideas for the design portion. This one is not bad but I'm not sure about it. Maybe something with 3 components instead of 6, but still pointing or showing movement like you have. I think the text all on one line looks good but I wonder how it would look stacked. If you can see it working some other way also, I'd like to see it. Looking good!
Tonya, this design looks really good! For me, I think I might prefer something with a few more harder edges to it. Thats the only thing about this design, otherwise it is a really good looking logo, thanks!
Carl, I liked the other logo better than this new one. The design you had before had some prespective to it, and didn't really look like an M, it just was a unique shape. This is not bad, but I just prefer the other one. Thanks for the submission!
Eziey, looking good! The only thing about this one is inside the square it looks like a U, is it supposed to be an M? This is a nice design, I like this the best of your logos so far. Would like to see a revision if you have any ideas, maybe with a different symbol inside the square, or anything else you can come up with. Thanks!
Raja, I like the fact that you are doing something different here, by using only the text as the logo. I could see going with something along these lines, but this particular design is not working for me. Maybe it is the all lowercase, and it looks a little busy and bunched up around the "ility". Thanks for the submission!
Samoyloff, good balanced design, looks nice! I'm not crazy about the pattern logo you have here, and I think I might lie a little thicker type font. Thanks for participating!
Artemii, this looks nice but I can't really see this circle logo working for me. It is a nice design though, I'm sure it would work for someone else. Thanks for the submission!
I'll be back in town the 14th, I may not get back to a computer to respond until then so I might have to extend this a bit. Thanks again for the hard work, all in all these are looking alot better!

As you know, Boolean logic is used in all computer languages, and without this keystone we would not have a single software product. Digit 1 is used to represent "TRUE" in Boolean logic. So I have arranged four 1's to look like "ml" to make this icon..

Here's another idea for the logo using the text from before. These icons are abstract letter 'M's and also a 3D image of 3 poles supporting an object in the center (can be representative of teamwork, support, unity, or similar). Also, the triangular structure shows strength.

Lots of entries!
Since I've been out of town for a week, I'm going to give this a few more days. Still don't see exactly what I want, maybe I am too picky, but I see a few that are close. Some comments:
Samoyloff: nice design, but just not what I'm after. Not sure about the yellow or the lowercase letters. Thanks!
davegk: most of these are a little busy for me. I appreciate the entries, but these just are not what I'm looking for, thanks!
Tonya: another good design, but I just can't see using it over some of the others I'm seeing. I appreciate the entry though, thanks!
thinkkre8tiv: the hand is not a bad idea, but the way you have it here just isn't coming across right for me. Thanks for the entry!
bogglins: good looking logo! I see it fitting in another contest though, for me I just don't see it fitting with the image I'm looking for. Thanks!
Artemii: thanks for the entries! I don't see these fitting with what I'm looking for though. Good ideas though!
DesignGeneral, I just keep seeing a mountain, or wings, in these designs, and I can't see them working for me. It is a nice look though and I'm sure it would work great in another contest, thanks for the entry!
Fabian, eziey, Castell, Mark: I am leaning towards one of your designs. A few comments:
Eziey, I'd like to see a black or grey in place of the green. Besides that, thanks for all your designs, looking good!
Castell, this looks pretty good, I'll be considering it. The only thing I might change is maybe try the words in different colors, maybe a black. Also, see if it might look good with the words together but seperate colors. Thanks!
Fabian, I'd like to pick this one, the lettering is great! I'll be considering it, although a different or variated logo on top or even on the left would make it a winner. Thanks for the entry!
Mark, you've got a nice look here and I don't have any suggestions for changes. Honestly, it is slightly plain for my tastes, but still it is one I'm considering. Thanks!
I know I've been picky, but that's why I doubled the prize :D !! Thanks again, I'll be picking something in the next few days, any more revisions are greatly appreciated!

Eziey, I like these colors a little better. I'll have to think about this design some but I have nothing to suggest for variations. Thanks!
davegk, this is simpler but still not what I'm looking for. I prefer your last design the best though. Thanks!
Fabian, I didn't see the M before but now I notice it. There's something about the graphic that just isn't the look I'm after. Maybe its the uneven placement of the shapes, but I'm not saying to just line them up. I like the sharp edges and the feeling of movement that you have, but just not exactly the way you have it now. I like the multicolored graphics the best, and for the 3 piece design I like the smaller logos. I might like them better lined up with the text though, but still the graphic is just not looking right for me. I can't say whether I prefer a smaller graphic or larger, but I can say if it is smaller I can see something very simple working out, since I already like the text. Hopefully you have a couple more ideas! Thanks again for these designs.
Samoyloff, looks good but I'm just not feeling this flower type look. Thanks!

I think this one is worth considering... very simple yet strong and easily recognizable branding icon.

Fabian, not bad but still not too much better than the others. It is close but the icon just isn't right for some reason.
I will have to get back to everyone sometime later, there's alot of these to look over and think about! :)
Thanks!

EDIT: please read my notes to Artemii, it has suggestions for everyone, thanks.
Artemii, in #80 you did something with an orbit, I'm thinking something along these lines might work, maybe not a full orbit as is common in many logos, but maybe just a line or curved line with some shape at the end to show that something is moving. That something is data and technology, so I'm thinking to try to capture this abstractly in the logo somehow. It might be one shape, or 3 shapes each getting smaller. It could be a simple shape or icon but it doesn't have to be. But something that is moving or flying along somehow I think would have the meaning that I'm looking for. Now in the #80 message, I don't like the all lowercase and I don't like the ML, so this would have to be changed in order to work.
I want to say thanks for all the designs so far, I understand I've been difficult and picky here, I just can't settle on something thats not right. I think this idea I've explained here will finally get me something that I can go with.
Castell, these all look pretty good. Just haven't seen something I can go with yet. They are close though, in terms of the quality I'm looking for. Thanks for the ideas!
Fabian, I really am thinking a graphic with more meaning like I've explained above would work. I just can't see going with what you have, but I appreciate the work, thanks!
design general, not sure what it is about these, maybe its the spacing of the letters, but they aren't coming across strong enough for me.
davegk, don't think I want to go with the M or L idea. Also, the overall look is too bold in most of your designs. Feel free to submit something else though, thanks!
bogglins, little too cartoonish for me, thanks though!
Thanks! :)

DesignGeneral, these are looking better but I have a couple suggestions. First, I prefer the top-right logo in #7 the best, the font in #8 I don't like. I think the font in #7 would look better if it were not as tall, for some reason it is coming across too plain for me. The circles are not bad, I like that it is simple but the way you have it just isn't working for me. Maybe there is another arrangement, or someway to incorporate a line or something else, I'm not exactly sure. Also, I think I'm not crazy about the green, maybe a blue/black or blue/grey combination. Looking better though, thanks for the new ideas! :)

DesignGeneral, colors are better here. Still not the look I'm after, these circles and font somehow have a less serious look if that makes any sense. I preferred the uppercase font from #7 but either way these fonts might look better to me if they were scaled a little vertically to not be as tall.
Trysen, thanks for the entry! This design is too big on the right with the circles going around. I am looking for something that is more balanced. Also I think I would prefer an uppercase M, or maybe all uppercase.
Fabian, I really don't think I need an M in the graphic. Can you come up with something without that? Also, I would rather have something that isn't making a complete orbit circle. Either a line or line that is curved a little, I'm not exactly sure, but I want to stay away from the "orbit" look. This is along the right lines though, thanks!

DesignGeneral, not bad but I'm not sure I really like the look of the M for some reason. I think I'm preferring something with some movement or action in it.
I'll be deciding on a winner this weekend or monday but as of right now I am leaning towards one of eziey's latest designs. Feel free to submit something until then but keep in mind it would have to incorporate the suggestions I had in message #110.
Thanks for all the hard work! :)

Some great looking designs here, I think I've gotten my moneys worth! I am going to have to award the contest to Eziey, design #38. Good work! There were alot of close seconds, you all do some great stuff! :D
Thanks again to all the designers! I'll be opening a stationary contest soon in the Misc forum if anyone want to participate.
Eziey, could you please do a couple quick revisions? I'd like to get 3 designs:
1 - the original with black/white reversed, so a black background, white lettering, and blue logo.
2 - one with the logo on the left, slightly smaller, and the text stacked.
3 - the original just as it is.
I would really appreciate it, thanks for the great looking design!

Eziey, looks great! The black background version looks good with the white border you added. And the logo on the left also looks pretty good. I might have to wait to see what they look like on stationary to really know which version I would end up using most. Could you please send me a link to the files?
Thanks again, great job! :)
