(Admin code added by Michael - R801033D,T063933N)
Deadline for picking a designer is set to Wednesday May 18th.
StickerGiant.com is the "Amazon" of stickers. We also carry magnets badges/buttons, keychains, patches, tshirts, flags, and various novelties. please visit us at http://www.stickergiant.com to understand how extensive and diverse our sticker selection is. 12K+ items + 600+ categories. We have not undergone a site wide redesign in 5 years. Oh My God.
I want ideas to transition away from the old logo. I want a "character" so this is more than logo creation, you are creating a "character" that has a personality that everybody likes and remembers.
The character should be recognized as humanoid or even humanoid-robot and the stickergiant is a male (non-threatening male) and not necesarily masculine, yet masculinity is definately acceptable. a unisex character would be acceptable as well, evan a unique smiley might work, I'm open to many directions. think "logotype emoticon extrodinaire"
StickerGiant carries stickers that represent as many viewpoints and interests as possible we favor no certain thought group. freedom of expression is our mantra.
The current logo is so removed from any current cultural norm that it works to be neutral, an identity, but not slanted towards any paticular design style or thought group.
Many of my peers believe my current logo scares away customers, although it is intensely liked by many(every logo has its fans)
I need something that works the same way, but is not so scary to a traditionalist, yet still cool to the hipsters. Friendlyer and updated and ready to fit into a slicker yet to be redesigned stickergiant.
It should work as a line drawing as well as on colors, I will want to create fun stickers out of it, put the "character" in different contexts and backgrounds and shapes.
The character should work by itself and with the name of the business, "stickergiant.com" The character as a icon should work as small and be intersting at a large size as well.
Once I choose a new logo I will begin a complete site redesign that I envision being "sunnier" and a more ecommerce feeling site designed to increase conversions. Think friendly, but not so friendly as to be uncool.
Final logo needs a) character alone b)character with type c)lineart version (for mailing labels and such) d)colored version for web use. e)vector art of the above.
Part sticker, part man, part robot.

Awesome Mark! great first shot. think it will work without the circle design element? don't anybody feel tied to blue and orange. this new logo is going to be part of a complete redesign. I envision a sunnier pallette, "sunny candystore"
willy wonka in the Bahamas in the spring.

After looking at this version today I am eager to see some slicker emoticon - like ideas. The hand-drawn look is good, but perhaps I want to go slicker with my new site.
Do you have a sample of the slicker style you're looking for?
stickergiant

these belong to somebody else but this is a emoticon.
one blongs to some emoticon website and the other belongs to the designer on this site named bella. I'd say bella's is slicker.

OK, great, lots of ideas.
so far I like #3 in the series of 3.
I like the part boy-part robot, but why not one or the other.
none of them are really "slick" dimensional polished, with a hi-lite.

What about taking the existing logo of stickergiant
and "modernizing" him, a morph persay , "extreme makeover" be the fab four and bring him into the future of stickers,
shiny. I like shiny stuff.

Awesome! This is great! forget the type for now, can you do a range of variations, color / expression / hat styles ?
I'm adding $100 bucks to this job. I want more designers to weigh in.

Hi there, I'm really liking working on this one! :D Since the robot is the core element here, I did as you said and forgot about the type for now, even the actual "logo" persay, in order to put all efforts on the actual robot. So this is my first draft, and to clear things up, this isn't the robot's final pose or final anything really, it's just meant to show what the robot looks like. Needless to say once we get the robot design done(if you like where it's going) then the shiny, polished version will be made. :)

Christian-
Thanks for the work, I think this is too illustrated, not iconographic enough..... but I like the drawing.... I'd like to meet him.

Bella and Mark
If you could take mark's latest version of the robot stickergiant morph, and illustrate him in the super crispy illustration style Bella uses with a pallette exploration I would be estatic !

The reason mine is not as shiny, is because I did not "enhance" it in Fireworks like Bella did. I can do this as long as you are aware that it no longer will be vector art as you requested. My original is 100% vector. Changing it to Fireworks will output it as a bitmap (Raster) file.

Hi- this is a nice character, he has personality. But is it a giant? unfortunately he looks too much like a scrubbing bubble.

Hi- i don't what to say about this character. He's not 'toon enough. illustration style is not iconographic.
stickergiant
05-16-2005, 07:45 PM
he's a cute guy, but I bet snoppy could kick his ***. not very Giantish. I'm serious about morphing Mark's character of the current stickergiant with your illustration style, and crispy and shiny!
Just to confirm, are you talking about message 13?
Christian
05-16-2005, 09:44 PM
:D Here's the next go at it! The first robo-stickerdispenser around!
stickergiant
05-16-2005, 09:52 PM
Mark, yes message 13. The mouth isn't quite right, too big... the illustration style needs to be crispy clean linework spot colors, contrasty hi-lites more like message 22
stickergiant
05-16-2005, 09:56 PM
Christian- there you go that was fast, The Illustration style is cleaner, now make him a giant. Or just play with his face a bit to make him a morph of my current logo, eyes 2 different sizes, perhaps a hint of individual teeth , cocked smile, yet polished, stickergiant meets the jetsons.

Hi, Im afraid I canīt take Markīs work and create it in my own style, that robot it is Markīs creation and it wouldnīt be fair. But Im working on a different style of robot, since it looks like you are more inclined to the robot idea, Im I right? :) . Iīll post it tomorrow morning if Im still on time.
take care

Im understand.
what was great about Marks, is that is was not too robot, but more giant, It was also a direct morph of my current logo which was really neat, His mouth is not right, but perhaps you could do a spin off morph character of my current guy as well.
I love your illustration style.

 Ok I thinkkk I may finally know what you're looking for! Unless there's something about this last robot I did that you particularly liked, besides the polished sticker look, I'm gonna work on a new version. :D
Christian
05-17-2005, 07:14 PM
:) Ok I'm crossing my fingers at this point, hopefully this is it. Note though that this is a draft, so you might notice the rough edges here and there. The final version will, of course, be extremely smooth and polished!

Ok... here is something I came up with.... he is not a robot, but he is a sticker giant :D , If you like it I can make it more "shiny" by adding some lights to it. Im working on the robot version now. Enjoy!

I'd like to engage you to continue the exploration of more ideas! how could we work on this together?
belladonna
05-20-2005, 02:05 PM
Hi, sorry but I donīt quite understand what you mean :) , you donīt like the giant? or you want me to explore new ideas based on the giant?, like new attitudes, expresions, etc? (christmas giant, for example?). Also, are you talking about a new project?
stickergiant
05-20-2005, 07:58 PM
Yes this is a new project, but not a contest. how does that work? You demonstrated a illustration style I feel I can work with and a ability to create characters, so I want to use you. I want you to explore versions of the giant, he can't be green, because of the popular green giant brand of vegetables here in the usa, so you should do a "variation set" of the current guy, different attitudes, variations on his shape, and color pallettes. I have learned brainstorming always makes better art.

sure some new color explorations would be nice, I woule even like some exploration done with his face, eyes mouth ect... work him as a stand alone icon... how about an additional $200 for the time to work this? does that seem fair?

John you can deposit the money on this page...
http://www.designoutpost.com/content/view/24/42/1/1/
There should a description box when you get to Paypal just add a note to what the payment is for. Once you have finalized the designs and are in receipt of the files we will forward the funds on to Julieta.

Hi John, sorry for the delay... again... the light went out on my building the whole day due to a preety big storm :( , as soon as it came back, I put hands at work, I just finished!... this are some ideas, I put some color into them, but not the amount of detail you like cause I wanted to see if you like them first... gladdly Im not sick anymore :) , Im ready to continue with the project, take a look and let me know what you think:

yeah! just do faces, experiment with a different smile, his teeth are awefully geometric for a guy who lives in a cave and is crazy about stickers, not to mention being evolutionarily challenged! make a slight tweek to his smile, try it slightly tweeked, he doesn't have a orthodontist. subtle.....

Hi! here you have some faces and a possible layout for the logo (I used the orange on your website, although Im not sure if you are going to stick with the actual colors).
I also changed the smile and made the teeth crooked and rounded to make him more realistic, you were right, I think he looks better now, with more personallity :D ... I was thinking on doing some kind of animation on his face... using the faces that I posted, how do you feel about this?, I will be using flash to make it.... Enjoy!

Hi John, let me know if the new smile is too much  . I donīt want you to have the impression that Im not interested in the project, its just that Im not exactly sure on the kind of stuff you are looking for, if you can give any direction on how you would like the giant to be, or how are you going to use it on the website, maybe I can use that as a guide to create some new stuff :) . Just let me know what you would like to see and Iīll prepare it for you... for example would you like to see him with some kind of background, or in another position, or maybe you are just planning to use the head alone?
Talk to you soon

Bella-
I am using this project to just explore. I like the bottom right one so far, I was hoping you would explore variations of the character as opposed to exploring variations of the same character.
Understand?
