I am opening an upscale consignment boutique selling children's & maternity clothing and accessories called Emily's Closet. I am looking for something that will let people know it is an upscale BOUTIQUE (most people have a perception that consignment stores are junky, smelly & cramped - which is not the case for most consignment stores these days). It is located in an affluent suburb of Atlanta surrounded by several county clubs. I like the feel of the Ivy Ridge logo Julie has posted in "Retail" - but think mine may need to have a hanger, or piece of clothing, or child or somehting to indicate that it is a clothing store. I would like to keep it simple. I like the colors of periwinkle/lavender and sage but will also need it in black and white. No primary colors please. Please let me know if there is any other info you need - thanks!
Deadline May 27th (flexible).

Hi Laurie!
Here is a logo sample I have come up with for you to consider. Looking forward to your feedback!
Many thanks,

Thanks Kassi - I like how the font is different but not too different/busy. I really like the "E". I like the closet doors. Could I please see the purple much lighter and the background blue/green a little more green? I think I like the girl - but not positive - could I see it wiht a different girl figure just to see what it might look like? Thansk!

Laurie, I can certainly work on a different concept for the girl. Anything in particular you would like to see done with her? I will have something for you as soon as I return home tonight (I'm just heading to work). Thanks for the feedback!

Laurie,
I'm glad you challenged me to come up with another girl because I kind of like how this new one turned out. I changed the colours to a lighter version of the same purple and substituted the old blue/green colour for a soft green. The first logo is the same as the first sample, just the colours are changed ... the second logo is another concept of the girl ... and the third logo is the door alone. Looking forward to hearing from you again!
Many thanks,
Kassi

I thought I'd post the second one a little larger because it seems a little hard to see on the screen at the size on my previous post.

Thanks for the new postings. Everyone is so creative!
Fran - I like how it has a touch of whimsy. Could I please see the green and purple switched (purple as main color). Also, could you make the "box" a bit bigger so Emily's Closet has a little more space around it? Thanks!
Trysen - the color of the doors are the exact purple/periwinkle color I was trying to describe! Becasue it's a children and maternity clothing store - would it be possible to change the dress to something a little less "womanly" and make it a light sage green?
Thanks!
Hi Laurie, thanks for the feedback. Here's a revision.
Regards
Fran

Thanks Paula. I really like the stripes! Could I please see the rust color changed to periwinkle and the rattle taken out? Thansk!

Here are a couple more ideas. Feel free to let me know if you have any suggestions or would like to see any changes.
Also, any comments or ideas for improvement on my last designs with the "female and closet"?
Many thanks!

Hello Laurie,
I hope you don't mind but I came up with a few more last ideas to show you.
#6 is another female concept, this time she is carrying a bag or purse and the features leave open whether she is a child or adult ... #7 is an emphasis on the bag/purse ... and #8 is another concept of the dress from my previous post.
Thanks again,
Kassi :)

Thanks to all the wonderful designers who helped me through this process - it was a wonderful experience. You are all extremely talented.
I have chosen a designer. I would like to work with Kassi. I would like to see some slight modifications to # 5 and # 8. May I please see what those 2 would look like with just the hanger (no dress) and change "consignment boutique" to "childrens and maternity consignment boutique". Thanks Kassi!

Thanks Kassi - I am REALLY excited about this logo. I think I like #5 - but I can't decde with (5) or without (5b) the dress. Could I please 5 with the "children's and maternity" added. I'm wondering if with the dress will be too big to fit on a business card? What do you think?

Hi Laurie,
I'm very glad to hear you are excited about these logos. That makes me VERY happy! :D I can definitely relate to your concern about the dress on #5 being too large. I had that same concern as well after I had posted it. It does create a lot of extra white space with it hanging down like that, which does put some limitations on it. As a result, I made the dress and hanger a little smaller this time in #5d (we wouldn't want to make it too much smaller otherwise it might just look like a "blob" instead of a dress when shrunk to business card size).
I placed a few of the logos on a very plain standard business card sample without text to help you visualize what your logo might look like. These samples can be viewed by clicking here: www.graphic-design.ca/~dawe/emilys_closet
Take your time in deciding. I'm definitely willing to work on this with you to perfection. Let me know if you'd like to see any other changes. I like many of the variations for different reasons ... which is why I'm glad it's your decision to make and not mine!
Looking forward to your feedback!

OK - I think I like 5d with the smaller dress - but would it be possible for me to get 5b also (with just the hanger) in case after I start using it I decide it is too busy with the dress? Could I please see the green color in a bit more sage green than teal green? The periwinkle look good! Thanks!

Sorry for the delay in getting these revisions to you. Just to confirm that these are the two which you would like me to finalize and send you files of, as well as the sage green colour. It's virtually impossible to pick a colour based on what you see on the monitor, since all of our monitors are calobrated differently. In other words, we could both be looking at completely different greens on our screens. I would suggest seeing perhaps a printing company that would have access to a Pantone swatch and choosing your colours from there. That way you could give me the actual colour number you desire. Or I can send you the files as they are and you can have a printer change the colours if they are not to your expectations when the time comes that you decide to use the logo in print. I am willing to do whatever you decide, let me know. Thanks again!

Yes - those are definitely the ones - they look GREAT!! Thanks for the tip on the monitors and the Pantone swatch - this is all new to me. I will definitley do that and have you update the colors before finalizing if that's OK. Can you let me know the number of the colors you are currently using? Thanks!
Kassi

Certainly, the colours I am using right now are Pantone 662 CV (at 50%) for the purple, and Pantone 5625 (at 100%) for the green. Let me know when you decide on your colours and I will prepare the files for you ... I'm very glad to hear that you are happy!
Thanks!!!

We went to the beach in Florida - it was wonderful. My sweet children (ages 5 and 3) did NOT want to leave. My I please see the logo with the purple in Pantone 272 U (100%) and the green in Pantone 578 U (100%). Thanks! Laurie

One last thing - could I please see how it would look with the "children's and maternity consignment boutique" in the purple - with just the dress is green? Thanks a lot!!
Kassi
06-13-2005, 09:18 AM
Certainly! . . .
7B is your latest request with the dress being the only thing in green ... I like that much better! The "children's and maternity consignment boutique" seemed to lose its readability when it was in green. What do you think? ... This variation has come a long way since we first started with it, it is definitely now "usable" without question, that makes me very happy :D !
I also included 7A, which also has the "children's and maternity consignment boutique" in purple and I tried the hanger in a slightly lighter screen of the purple just to add a little visual interest.
Thanks Laurie!

That's it - I LOVE IT!!! WOuld you please send those to me in color and black and white? Also - I'm sure this is a silly question - but will I be able to "size" them for different things (letterhead, business cards, banners, website, etc). Lastly, what is the font you used? I think those are all my questions. Thanks so much for all of your hard AND creative work!
Kassi

Great! I'll send you 7B and ... which do you want 7A or 7C of the hanger version? You will certainly be able to scale them up or down. The fonts I used were MurrayHill Bd BT for "Emily's Closet" (except the letter "E" I made myself and is inspired by the font Bickley Script), lastly I used Kabel Bk BT for the "children's and maternity consignment boutique".

I like them both - but think I will go with 7A - it will give me a one color (kind of) option if I need that for certain things. I'm so excited to start using it!
