Hi everyone! (Admin code added by Palmer - 08650G)
I love this site! As you can tell, a very satisfied customer told us all about this great site and the talent here on our pet sitting yahoo group.
So........here's my deal. I own Pet Nanny, a dog walking and pet sitting service in central Wisconsin. Our main business is cats and dogs, but include birds, pocket pets and fish. I want to have a fun logo, that makes people say....aw, how cute! I absolutely LOVE what I do, and I want my logo to reflect that and my personality is fun, energetic and upbeat. I would like to have some sort of tag line..."we let the dogs out" or "got paws?" or something catchy and cute ;).... or would love to see any ideas you might have. Please checkout my website if you have the time, www.petnanny4u.com and see the simple design that was done for me by my fiance. I love the look, but I need something that I can easily put on everything like biz cards, tshirts, website, banners for tradeshows, etc. I want it to be something that says, hey, we love your pets as much as you do!
Im not to particular on color, but the simplier the better, I think. I thinks its better to stick to a two color scheme.
Business Name: Pet Nanny
Contest Ends: June 20, 2003
Good Luck and thanks, you guys rock!

After that one contest holder for a pet company said she would tell around 750 of her friends, the pet contests have been a frenzy here. She must not have been exaggerating.
MikeBlanck
06-10-2003, 02:36 PM
Nope, she was't exaggerating! We have a great group of people who share tips, ideas and anything that might be of help or interest with eachother, and this one was a great one!
Good news travels fasssssst!

Since there's been so many pet contests as of late, do any of the logos posted for those catch your fancy?
MikeBlanck
06-10-2003, 03:32 PM
Hi Elkootcho!
I think Im looking for more of a cartoony, fun kinda look. Ive seen the ones done for the other pet sitting businesses, and I tend to like the ones that have pics of pets, but not the "shadow" type ones.
Also, I am going to be getting a magnetic sign for my car, so I need to be sure the colors will not clash with my car. I have a green chev cavaliar convertible. (1999).
Thanks!

Thanks for your submission. I like the color, but Im looking for more of a fun, cartoonish kinda look. Maybe more vertical than horizontal also.
Looking forward to seeing more!

Ha ha!
I just saw the....when the wind is just right comment! Deer capital?? I thought all of Wi was that?! After living here for so long, I don't even notice the purdy smell! My fiance had a hard time getting used to the smell....and he's from Milwaukee!

Hello Norah,
Please accept this as my initial concept for your Pet Nanny logo design.
I was kinda thinking Mrs. Doubtfire + Puppies and Kitties...
Your feedback is appreciated.

The attached pic is my original logo. I really like the way the animals are making the letters. Could you use this as a sample and maybe play off this a bit?
Thanks for your design Kimber.... its cute, but not the look Im after. Im not that old yet! LOL.

06-16-2003, 04:52 PM
Hi Sparkie,
thanks for the idea. My name is just "Pet Nanny" though. Im looking for something a little more fun, and with only a cat and dog in it. I would like the words"pet sitting & dog walking services" added to the logo too. Maybe some paw prints in there somewhere. I like the concept, but it needs to look more cheery and happy-go-lucky. I would like to see more from you!
Thanks!

The picture with the cat, dog and bird is already being used by at least one petsitter in our group. It's a pretty common logo.

Here's my next entry. It's a little more cartoony...
MikeBlanck
06-18-2003, 06:34 AM
Thanks Sparkie!
I like the concept of the dog, but its still not what I am looking for. I would like something that is fun and a bit cartoony and with a dog AND cat in the logo. Im looking for a font that looks a little rough, not so perfect. I want to keep it simple with only two colors to cut down on my printing expenses, yet easy to add more color should I ever want to. Maybe have the dog and cat lounging more, to show how happy and relaxed their pets are in my care.
Keep trying. My deadline was suppose to be this Friday, but I haven't had a lot of submissions and I haven't received what I am looking for. If I am being to vague, please let me know and I will try to explain myself further. I am going to keep the contest going until I get some more entries.
Thanks a bunch,
Norah

Hi sparkie,
Thanks for the revisions but its still not the look Im looking for. I guess instead of more cartoony, Im looking for fun and whimsical. I want it to appear professional yet happy and approachable.
We'll get there!

Just getting my contest up from the bottom of the pile.....Ireally need to get my merchandise ordered. I have delayed my date in hopes of new submissions. This is getting a bit frustrating. :(
If no one has any submissions, I think I may close my contest and not declare a winner.

Thanks for the ideas! Now, let me adjust my bottom lip (it was drooping!) and let you know my thoughts on the logos. :D
2square-
I like the dog and cat, they are cute! Im not too crazy about the font on the first one, but I do like the paw print in the second one. I also am not crazy about the pacifier thing. I would like to see a different font for the Pet Nanny, something with a little more flair or funk....Its a good design though, thank you very much.

Thanks for the submission! I like the dog, but Im wondering if you could do something more whimsical? I like the color choice of the 2nd one too. I would like to see a different font used as well.
Thanks again!

Taldo-
Thank you so much for your submission. I like your 3rd one the best. Can you make the dog look more like a cocker spaniel with droopy ears?(I have a buff colored cocker spaniel named Mango). Could you also try a different font choice as well? Maybe try the cat in a grey and the dog in a buff color?
Looking forward to seeing more!

I like your first logo with the diaper pin, its so cute! Could I see what it would like like with a cocker spaniel looking dog in a buff color? Could you also change the font, I dont know my font names, but I am looking for a more fun, whimsy looking font.
Thanks again, I love your ideas!

Norah...
I went a little overboard and have so many concepts up that I'm having a hard time telling which one you're talking about. Except for the first set from yesterday, they all have names and numbers associated with them (like "pupperdog02"). Could you help me out a little and refer to them that way?
Thanks :)

Hi Julie,
I see what you mean about using your titles, only I cant see what the first one says(laptop computer here). Its the one with the puppydog face on the diaper pin w/ the pink lettering that I am looking at. I like that concept, but the pink lettering is too hard to read I think. Now that I think about it, the diaper pin isnt what I am looking for, I think the baby concept is cute, but a little too cute. I am caught between wanting something fun and cartoony to wanting something different and whimsical which is why I am wanting to see both.
Thanks! Please keep them coming!

I am looking for something fun and cute. Cartoony, but not corny....sorta whimiscal and different. I can't quite put my finger on what I am looking for, I am just hoping it will jump out at me when I see it..... Please give me more of your ideas, I would love to see them.

Hi!
2square-
I like #4....its sorta the whimsy I am looking for. I don't want my website address on my logo...I put that seperate. Could you change the cat a bit, looks to halloweeny-ish....and could you add the tag line: We're your BEST FRIEND'S best friend! I would also like to see the cartoony cat and dog again but with a droopy eared dog...I think the font needs to be a bit bolder too. Also, I dont like how high the paw print is, I think it should be lowered.
I appreciate the revisions, thank you!
MikeBlanck
06-25-2003, 05:27 PM
Hi Julie-
I like pinning02 the best. I was thinking, could you play on that circle thing and put the dog inside the circle, and add a cat too and in a curved upward arch put Pet Nanny...and the lower part of the circle, add the tag line. We're your BEST FRIEND'S best friend!
Thank you....I appreciate all the effort you are putting into this!

Hi Julie-
Thanks for the revision, it still isn't getting my attention for some reason. Im not crazy about the color scheme, seems a little drab or something. I thought I liked the font, but coupled with the design it doesn't work well. The font needs to be bolder or thicker or something. The whole circle theme needs to look more polished and the tag line needs to be more readable. Sorry, don't mean to be so difficult, Im just not seeing what I like yet.
Please keep trying!

Hi Julie
I really appreciate all the tweaks you are doing! I like pinning11 the best, I would like to see a different font though, that one is doing it. Also, because I dont want too many colors, could you put a cat in dog in a shadow instead? I like the whimsy type of dog that Taldo did. Lets try a darker color scheme, like in reds, or dark blues.
Thanks

Norah,
Let's see if I understand--you'd like the pets in a sort of silhouette, like I did for Coddled Cats, if you saw that submission? Also, I know originally you wanted to stay with two colors, so that's what I'll head back to. Are there any fonts that you particularily like that you've see anywhere? If you don't have any ideas, of course I can go through what I have, but I think it might be speedier if you have any ideas--I know you want this contest to wrap up quickly :)
I'll get the tweaking done this afternoon. Right now I'm soon to be surrounded by a gaggle of huggy, touchy first and second graders I volunteered to lead a craft activity for

06-27-2003, 10:55 AM
Norah--here's what I've come up with. After checking out the silhouette idea, it really didn't work, so I've used these pets in grayscale, instead. They've got much more character this way, and that's one of the things I think my previous entries were missing. Also, as for fonts, I've got some choices here that you might like--mostly bolder so that its easily read.

Hi Julie-
I was lookingat some of your other designs, and I like the one you did for Coddled Cats-royalty2. I like the shadowed animals, with them in the circle, but the wording Pet Nanny outside of the circle, with my tagline "We're your BEST FRIEND'S best friend!" under Pet Nanny. I like the font you used also. and the colors....either that or I was thinking of a yellow or gold....
Help me know what Im looking for! LOL Thank you soooo much!
MikeBlanck
06-27-2003, 08:39 PM

I hope you can see this one-I like the font used in this, dont know the name, but if you could use it, that would be great. Please do a sample of the circle logo and the one like coddled cats so I can compare the two, I am having a hard time decided which one I like the best
Thanks!

One more thing, for the revisions of the two, use the pinning16 color scheme, but use the font and animals of the sample I gave you. Do your revisions to nanners3, but also use the animals and font I gave you a sample of. Hope this clears things up.
Thanks again!

Anyway--Norah--here's my revision:
MikeBlanck
06-28-2003, 09:55 PM
Julie-
We're getting really close here......I like the logo you did with coddled cats-royalty 1-2, I like that arch thing and the name on the bottom with the animals on the top. I would like my animals to look like the picture I attached earlier. The shadows are a bit too flat for me, I would like a little more flair to them , so can you add the white to the black dog, and keep the cat white with some black?
I love the font you did I nanners4, I would like to keep that for the name and the tagline. Can we try the colors in a purple, light purple(dont know my color names too well). I was thinking the wording might look good if they were in white. I really want Pet Nanny to stand out.
Please add your expertise as well.....I really love your designs.
Thank you!
Julie
06-29-2003, 06:18 AM
OK--here is it. Codnanny01, 03 and 04 uses the white text, as you asked, because its background is darker than that of codnanny02--I'm going for the most contrast to make the text pop out. I believe 02 and 04 use the colors you specified, but I threw in 01 and 03 to show you the feel that more subdued colors will give you.
As you'll probably notice, the pets in 01 are in a slightly different position than in the others. This is the position they were in, in the sample you supplied, but I changed it in the rest so that there would be a more even line across their bottoms. That meshes with the text better, I think.
What do you think?
Julie
MikeBlanck
06-29-2003, 11:19 AM
Hey Julie-
We're getting there.....hang with me here! My partner in crime wants to see more color choices, he's not too crazy about the purple on purple....so, can you try some different color combos? Purple/gold,Red/gold,black/red and blue/gold. Also, can you throw some whiskers on the cat and make the head a little bigger? The design I like the best out of the last 4 is codnanny02.
Thanks...can't wait to see them!

Great color ideas! Here you go...
MikeBlanck
06-29-2003, 01:00 PM
Yay! We are so close......the one I love the best is codnanny06. Love the colors. For some reason, that cat just isnt doing it for me like I thought it would. Love the doggy. I quickly got a few ideas of cats I liked. I think the cat just needs to come a little more "alive". I like the stylized, whimsy look, but its still missing something.
Its looking great.....thank you.
MikeBlanck
06-29-2003, 01:04 PM
Oh, one more thing! Can you widen the gold area a bit, and add a few paw prints? Make the tag line a little bigger too, its a little hard to read.

Norah--
Here are some alternates...I gave the original cat more personality and added a new one in the position of those you posted. As for the paws, I do like the version I used in three of them, but I wasn't sure if you had a particular vision. If those need to be worked on, just let me know.

wow, I love them all....thanks for the revisions so quickly! I like codnanny10 the most.....love the kitty. I would like to see the paw prints a tad larger, in white running along the blue outline...the words Pet Nanny need to be a bit larger as well. I want a bang! with my name.....
Its amazing how this process works.....I loved seeing the original concepts, then down to all the fine tuning.....I will be making my decision tomorrow......early in the morning hopefully.
Thanks!

Julie-
I will need this logo to be on everything....from business cards, to letterhead, to invoices......banners, magnet for my cars, tshirts, sweatshirts and jackets......dog and cat dish mats, doggy tshirts....EVERYTHING! So, will you be able to send me all the formats I will need? When I add the logo to my website, I want the background to be transparent, so it will blend into my background. I want to be able to size the logo easily...I think thats called vector?
Can you throw some examples of the logo on a biz card and tshirt?? Please advise me!
Thanks!!!!!
Julie
06-30-2003, 05:33 AM
Hi Norah,
Here are the revisions! Yup, everything is done in vector, so there won't be any distortion when you resize them. I can give you almost whatever you want in file fomats--talk to your printer, but I imagine he or she will want it in .eps. I can also give you the gif.
I'm working on finding a t-shirt and business card that will work for the pic you wanted, so I'll post those again in just a little while.

Thanks girl......its looks awesome. Please add the paw prints to the bottom, thats the last thing I have to decide. Thanks for all your hard work...You definitely earned your prize money, and then some.
Um, and the winner is: JULIE!! Take a bow.....:::::applause:::::::::: Speech! Speech!
How do we wrap it up?

Anyway, I've emailed you with details, Norah. Thanks!
Julie
