Hello everyone !

This is Disco Stu from disco.com

After holding onto the domain for many years we have decided to finally develope it into the internet's definitive disco site.

After seeing many many designers, and actually paying alot and I mean ALOT of them and then getting a design we didn't like, we'd kind of like to see what this community has to offer.

We've seen some of your designs, and now we want to see what YOU think Disco.com's logo should be.

Now, we aren't logo thiefs, so feel free to put a watermark or what have you over the image, thats fine !

What we DO want to see:

Let's have it in 70's style fonts with 70's colors.
Of course, we can't forget that disco ball !
We'd like to see the ball in the logo of course, and it would really be hip if it was moving with maybe a few sparkles here and there.

Most of all , we want to see a fun logo that is instantly recognizable anywhere, and the design you do MUST be able to do 4 colors for screen printing later.

I'm sure there are some people who remmember those days, and I know someone here is still groovin to EW&F so let's see it !

Why not start a contest? Here at DesignOutpost you can have any number of talented designers give you their ideas and, if you offer a prize (hint: $$), you'll get a great 1970's disco logo for a fraction of what you paid for that big ol' 8-track player.

Because we have already wasted almost $5,000 USD on designers that all say the same thing, send me money then Ill design it, what do we get in the long run? not a **** thing.

This site is backed by a ton of disco superstars all of which will have exclusive interviews on the site, and I am very sure that the site will be very successful.

A good designer doesnt need to search for people, they search for him.

Case in point, the people that did Microsofts new icons for windows xp.
They had done work for nickelodeon, and Microsoft called them to design icons for them.

They designed almost 500 icons without seeing a penny.

Where are they now?

You'll also know them as the icon designers for aol.

If you want to make a good design, have it viewed and possibly chosen then make one and post it. As I said, me making a contest and awarding $5,000 USD or whatever, should not be a reference to how well you design it.

A TRUE designer does his best whether hes being paid $1 or $10,000.

If you really don't want a very visible site on the internet sporting your logo that you designed and you don't want that in your resume, then Ill continue looking for proffesional designers elsewhere.

I have to agree with Ed there Stu. You'll have much better results if you can break open the piggy bank.

Although I've been a little laxed as far as the requests for freebies in this forum. The intent of creation of it was to help out Churches, Little Leaguers, Schools, and other organizations like those.

You have a great domain name and it is sure to be a profitable site, surely you can invest a little bit now to have a more professional look when it's developed.

Best of luck to you :)

You sound a little angry there Stu. Not really fair to take out your frustrations of previous experiences on us.

We've never failed to deliver whether it's free or not. Honestly though, most of the members of the Design Team don't participate in the Charity Cases contests. I'm not real sure how great a response you'll receive but I guess we can wait and find out. :)

Sounds like you've been dealing with the wrong designers

"A good designer doesnt need to search for people, they search for him."

Him or Her you mean. That's how you found DesignOutpost

"Case in point, the people that did Microsofts new icons for windows xp.

Probably still looking to get paid.

His or Her best you mean. So if you did a really cool logo for me, i could choose between paying you a dollar or $10,000? Hmmmm, i may be approaching this whole "making my living as a designer" thing all wrong.

I don't mean to give you a hard time Stu. Sounds like maybe you've had some bad experiences. If you've decided to bypass design houses and ad agencies (and cousins who took an art class once at community college) and use DesignOutpost as your venue for getting a great logo, then you've made a good decision. This place is full of talented designers. Just don't follow your reasoning that since you've paid designers in the past, you shouldn't have to pay any in the future.

Your willing to pay $5,000 to design a logo you are not happy with and then turn to a site and ask them to do it for free? A $50 minimum isn't even a drop in the bucket and you can even critique and ask these designers what you want.

I took a pop at this site to create me a logo and was pleased with the results. The measly $50 minimum that I paid didn't hardly compare to the hard work these designers did for me. I put up another logo and added an extra $30 to the contest and still feel that is MORE than fair for the ideas and work these folks produce for you.

I can only wish you luck in your endeavers. Can we atleast see those designs you paid so much money on?

As a very happy customer numerous times (6 contests, 1 template, 2 misc) I can only echo the comments of Palmer and his team!

These guys are a bargain! You get phenominal talent at great rates, I have had one minor issue with a design (whihc turned out to by my error) and the team couldn't do enough for me in rectifying the issue as soon as the could.

I would stronlgy recommend that you move the contest into the logo section with a minimum payment of $50, the results will no doubt speak for themselves.
