View Full Version : 4Lucky Paws Petsitting
(Admin code added by Palmer - 71240E)
And here comes another Pet Sitting Biz for you guys. Good news travels fast and there has been some great work from here. Need help with my 1st logo
I call myself 4Lucky Paws Petsitting. I am thinking I like the cartoon type dogs and cat and other small cage animals. Right now I am using just the plain dog prints on my sign and cards but looking for something more specific for me and really want a animal included. As for colors I have been leaning toward tans/ browns on my cards / signs. I did a small web site 4luckypaws.com and using the colors blue and yellow on it. So at this point I am flexable on colors, just want to get everything looking .
The only thing is I use the 4...attached to the word Lucky...I know its weird...but for some reason I liked it and rather not change it. I like wacky letters. I have used TimesScrDMed on my letterhead and flyers. It also has a closed number 4.
I chose the name 4Lucky Paws, because I have a adopted Boxer and he is my inspiration for this. He has 4lucky paws that brought him to me. Has anyone done a cartoon dog /cat with all paws showing? Will a 2 week time will be enough for you guys? Cant wait to see what develops.

I think I can come up with something...

Hello dKay,
Here's my initial idea... he's supposed to be a boxer. It's been a while since I've seen one.
The gist is that he's trying to show you all his 4-Lucky paws (but he has to stand on one).
Your feedback is appreciated.
-Kimber
WOW  Your inital idea is right on track.....I love the boxer. Can we modify the coloring and give him floppy ears?
Should I use 4Lucky Paws or 4Lucky Paws Petsitting?
Is it too much to ask if we can add a cat ( having a dog and a cat )
Could the cat be laying on the word petsitting or peeking out from behind?
Should I try to add a tag line or web address or phone number?
I cant belive you drew me a boxer! :D
I will send a couple of pic's of Austin and his kitty sisiter Magic.
another picture of Austin, hope this helps with his ears

I'll drop his ears ( for some reason, I thought Boxer's easr stood up)
and fix the colours. Do you want him more "rust-coloured" like Austin?
I'll also work on a cat...
Stay-tuned.
;)
You are right... Boxers do have pointed ears, they are cropped ( cut) at a very early age and have to be formed by tapeing the ears in an upright position for a period of time... but natural ears that tbe boxer is born with are big , floppy and as soft as velvet. Austin is considered a fancy mahogany brindle boxer , natural/docked ( he has a white chest, and 4 white socks, redish brown with tiger stripes, his mask is solid black and his nose is not as squished up as what most people think of when the see a boxer, the wrinkled face and eyes that are so full of human expression is unmistakable boxer, natural ears and a docked tail( his kick stand with a full loaded spring in it) Sorry about being wordy there, as any mother I just love to brag about my boy, he is quite beautiful.
Now to your creation, I really like where we have started, and actually better than I had expected, I like the mouth on the doggie, it is a happy / friendly mouth and the drawing as a whole does immediatly give the look of a boxer , as well as the goffyness of a boxer... but just wonder how the floppy ears would look. I think I am more concerend with having 2 animals and the word petsitting in the logo than making the pooch look just like Austin. So please dont beat you brain too much on this, similarity is fine with me. As for the cartoon cat, just not a solid color.

Okay dKay!
Here's a new boxer... not exactly a fancy brindle, but he does have white socks and a dark muzzle.
The cat's here too -- a striped kitty (not one colour).
I also took the liberty of stylizing the business name.
Please advise.
Thanks,
-Kimber
Very good!
(1) Love to modified dog. I would like to see a little less white on paws and feet ( just to the wrist and ankles)
(2) kewl cat.....I was thinking the cat to be a bit smaller maybe?
(3) wording: I still am thinking that Petsitting should be added. My registered name is 4Lucky Paws Petsitting
(4) Fonts: could you throw me a few variations on the fonts. I like the size of the 2nd font, I like the 4 is the 1st font. Not sure how I feel about using the paw for the letter A
(5) should I add phone number and/or web site to this?
Hey Kimber,
I was looking thru the other forums just now and ran across your cat and dog you did for Creature Comforts. ( the one resting on the pillows) Would it be too much to ask to see that kitty with the boxer( still smaller please). I also like the way the wording wrap around the animals. as well as the paws prints under it maybe with petsitting in the place of pet care?

Are you referring to the chubby kitty and puppy?
See below:
Or, the leaner kitty with her paws folded? (There are more posts of this cat).
If it's the chubby cat, do you want the boxer to be a little on the "fluffy" side too?
Let me know, and I'll try to scratch something up.

1. Thank you... less white is no problem
2. Thank you... she can be made smaller
3. Consider it done (on my next round)
4. Fonts? I'll mix 'em up a bit. I'll find that missing "A" and replace the pawprint.
Do you have a particular typestyle you're fond of? If you do, let me know.
(At last count, I had 2608+ so if I don't already have it,
I'm sure I'll be able to find something that's close
5. Sure, if you like. It's going to be YOUR logo.
I'll post revisions soon.

yep that's the one I was talking about. I like that fat cat. As for the boxer, I like the boxer with floppy ears, but sure let me see a chubby boxer as well.

I'll work on some revisions this evening.
Look fo them soon.

Hey Designers
I really need some feedback from you guys and gals. My 2 weeks is almost up ( 72 hrs) and I have little to look at. I have almost wore out my poor mouse looking to see what creations have been possibly created for me and I am just dumbfounded . What do I need to do to get more input from designers. Do I need to send more information? Is the name just a difficult one to work with? Is the contest prize too small ? Are you just burnt out on petstters? I have seen such wonderful work here and am just impatiently waiting for something as creative to add to my biz. I'm gonna go mow the grass so I dont keep looking at this screen. Please let me know what I could do to stimulate more interest in my contest.
Hi ya.
Had an idea for your logo so I threw a little something together.
The 4 paws motif is there (2 front paws from each animal), but I thought I'd avoid including the whole animal to create a tighter design package.
The boxer was drawn from scratch, so if you think the logo might be along the lines of what you want, I'll go ahead and color him too.

Hi Liz,
Thank you , Thank you, for submitting a drawing. I was feeling rather invisiable over here. Please let me know if you may become too busy in the next few days to stick with me on this. I am running out of time as well as everything here in the office and will have to go to local printer within a week for more cards and forms and would really like for next batch to be the new and improved one. If you have the time to work with me over the next few days then please read on. If your plate is full , I will understand that as well.
You did a fine drawing of a boxer and if you dont mind I would like to see him in color.
I do not understand the "tighter design package ". Does that mean that a whole animal may not convert to everything as well as , say, maybe just the heads? Or should I just look at lettering and no drawing in order to put this design on everything.
I do want to use this logo on letterheads, buz cards and t-shirts. At some point I will reletter my truck with the logo.
I really like the fonts you used. Best ones yet. I like the way the wording is setup. And I like the blue shadow around the word petsitting. Will the blue lettering in (4Lucky Paws) show up with the darker blue background?
I am thinking I would like my web address and phone number on this as well as a tag line.
www.4luckypaws.com
266-7299
They're more than just pet's...They're Family!
I was wondering what (www) would look like next to the kitty's head and put .com vertical at the end of 4lucky paws, or would that be horizonal ( well I am thinking sideways). Maybe an oval or circle around the entire thing or a house as a background, with tag line embedded ?..and slide the phone # in where ever you think it would look good at. Now please correct me if I am way off....I cant draw a circle with a compass...thats why I need you guys. If you have read this far...I thank you again for showing interest in my contest.
Hi there, you're not invisible!
Let me address some of your comments in the last post individually:
Please let me know if you may become too busy in the next few days to stick with me on this. I've just wrapped up a few projects, so I have the time right now to put in a few revisions. If you have a printer in mind, have you spoken to them about the requirements for artwork? File format, color palette they use for printing, whether they have a limit on the # of colors, things like that?
You did a fine drawing of a boxer and if you dont mind I would like to see him in color.
Excellent, thanks! I'll go ahead and color him today.
I do not understand the "tighter design package ". Does that mean that a whole animal may not convert to everything as well as , say, maybe just the heads?
As far as that, I was just referring to minimizing the whitespace in the design (to create a unified look and feel), and being able to use larger text because less of the space needed to be set aside for the animals. This is just my opinion (not a comentary on existing entries), the name is what you need to get "out there"; as long as THAT's the primary thing that's visible, you're delivering the message. Using the full animals take up some real estate that could otherwise be used for your business name. When scaled down to small sizes (like go a business card), fullsize animals would likely become a little blurry, as would the text. With the text the more predominate element, it has a better chance of remaining clear at smaller sizes.
I really like the fonts you used. Best ones yet. I like the way the wording is setup. And I like the blue shadow around the word petsitting. Will the blue lettering in (4Lucky Paws) show up with the darker blue background?
It should show up - I can brighten the blue more if you're concerned about that.
I am thinking I would like my web address and phone number on this as well as a tag line.
I'll incorporate that in the next draft, thanks for all your feedback!
- Liz.
Here's an update with a fully colored doggie, www./.com and phone incorporated.
http://clients.snapfire.com/lucky2.gif
I just spoke with the printer again, he says he can work with any file format, so vector is fine.
As for colors, I understand , the more colors the more it will cost. Anything more than 4 colors is considered full color, but if the final design ends up being 40 colors and it is what I really want then...it will just have to be... ;)
And thank you for explaining "tighter design package "to me. Now that I think about it, that makes good sense.
I am very anxious to see you revisions and any others that may have some ideas. I really was hoping for several to have to decide from. And again....I "thought" an animal would be cute. I am open to wording only. I will attempt to attach a pic of what my signs look like now. Any and all suggestions greatly apprecialted
rabbitdog...you are fast...I could take a few lessons from you on "just throwing something together"
any chance I could see what this may look like on cards / letterheads / tee's
I have to go do a sit at 5pm, and I want to ponder the colors. I don't know how I feel about the blue colors.
the kitty is perfect...I may want to do a little tweeking to the doggie ( a few wrinkles in the forhead, more black mask ( around the nose_ and maybe a touch of white on the paws, somwhat like kitties paws) a little droopier eyes maybe.
I like the circle with the tag line in it...and the www/com looks better than I imagined...placement of phone number is very readable ...and that is what I think I really want.... Thank you very much....
If you decide on my logo, I'd be happy to go over any final tweaks with you to the boxer and colors. I'm sure we could work to find something you'd be happy with!.
I've done a few *very* quick product mockups of a business card, b&w letter head and tee shirt (if you haven't settled on a printer for the tees, I can recommend a friend of mine who I work with, he does fantastic quality and he's very reasonably priced).
Thanks again for your consideration,
Liz.

Thanks rabbitdog,
You have done a great job here. I guess now we just need to wait as see what else appears between now and Thur night.
I would like to go ahead and close this contest declaring rabbitdog the winner  . Rabbitdog I just want to thank you for hopping in here and giving me a very nice logo to use in a very short time frame. Everyone has agreed this is really great work. Let me know where we go from here.
