Hello Professional, :cool:

I want a NEW website design.
The website is for selling my software (shareware), but all softwares are still developing. The first software is a DVD movie copying software, just like DVDXcopy. In brief, users can clone a DVD video to a blank DVD-R by using their DVD burner drive. If you don't understand, you can check this link which got lots of similiar softwares:

As I will continue to add more softwares related to DVD, VCD, and multimedia to this website in the future, I want the main (/home) page design can allow me to show more softwares later.
Also as I will write the content by myself, you don't need to author the text content (but you need to include some text to let me get the general feeling). Please make sure the template can be inserted text content easily later.


Budget: US$350
Deadline: 24 June
Deliverable: 1 main page and 1 subpage template (including HTML and all image sources, e.g. psd, ai, etc).
Compatibility: IE and Firefox, 800 pixels width
Domain Name: www.HomeDVDCopy.com (not exist yet)
Company Name: HomeDVDCopy.com
Name of 1st Software: Easy DVD Clone
My HTML editor: Dreamweaver MX 2004
My image editor: Fireworks MX 2004 (preferred), Photoshop 7
Design: It should give the users a simple, high-tech, and enjoyment feeling. My suggesion is you can show "a family they are sitting on the sofa and watching on the TV happily" header image on the website.
Horizontal menu bar: Home, Features, Pricing, Order, Download, Support (with highlight effect)
Privacy Policy (shown at the bottom)

I like your first design more.
But the color looks little bit old for me, also the family picture is not happy enough, you can change another picture, the company logo can be larger. "Welcome" and "About Us" messages are not necessary.

The family picture is good! I like it. :) But the picture seems too "tall", can you tell me the resolution of the header picture only?
Also I want a "TV" will be shown in the picture, now I only see the antenna..

I shortened the height of the image to show just the two children and the tv. The new size is now 768 x 208 at 72 dpi which equals 34k. The previous size was 768 x 249.

The designers are not permitted to copy elements from other entries. It was Mark's choice to use that photo so the other designers are not permitted to use it or they will be reprimanded.

Message#16 is better, the "Buy Now" button on the right hand side should use "Order Now" as well, also I want to add a "Download Now" and "More Info" link for the main product and future product, you can use button or any other things for these links...

For the "Other Products" shown at the bottom, I think it is too messy now, maybe you can only show the "Order Now" and "More Info" links..
Also, the "Order Now" button doesn't look matching to the "Download Now" and "More Info" links on the right.
The font type on the bottom left doesn't match the bottom right.. :rolleyes:

I looked high and low for a better pic, but couldn't find one.

My only concern with having a larger pic is that because of the way the image is proportioned, the heads at the top will be chopped off in order to have the image fit exactly into the header.

For the large boxshot on the right, the "Order Now", "Download Now" and "More Info" links still not looks good. I don't know, maybe you can create three smaller buttons here...

1. In the left hand side of the couple, show 3 buttons like:

2. For the right hand side boxshot, only show the [ORDER NOW] button is okay. Delete the download an more info buttons

1. I am sorry I forget to tell you that you can just use the same header as the main page. So when users click on the horizontal menu, all pages will show the same menu and header at the same position. I will use the subpage design for the remaining pages, namely "Features", "Pricing", "Order", "Download"...

2. Is the current page the "HOME" or "FEATURES" page? I see that the "HOME" is white and the "FEATURES" is blue. What does it mean?

3. Please try to integrate the following image into the boxshot, just make it shown in front of the boxshot, you need to remove the background and it need some Photoshop techniques. :cool:

The page that has the blue button is the one that it's on. For example the last layout I did is the "Features" page.

However, the previous homepage layouts I did that shows "Download" blue, is only to show the "mouseover". So if your on the homepage, all the buttons will be green but change to blue if you mouseover. Once you go the specific followup page, the blue mouseover remains there to show you what page you are on.

I have no problem making more changes, etc, but I think that you have enough to go on to decide a winner. Additional changes can be made in the revisions forum once a winner is announced.

Ok. I put in the home link.

I originally sent you the source files but they were png (Fireworks files) I've converted them to Photoshop files and will send them to you.

I design the look in Fireworks first, then I create the Dreamweaver file and bring the images in. Fireworks allows you to create the html, but I don't like to do it that way because you lose control.
