Hi... I've gotten great feedback from the Chris Hammond Youth Foundation logo that EJLAIN designed a little while back! I can't wait to see what you guys come up with for this group. I'm designing their website, but have discovered that they really need an organizational identity before we get to the web. So the logo is the first step (if anybody wants to get creative and think about stationery design, that's great too!).

By the way, as I mentioned in my first contest, I'm a web/graphic designer myself... but I STINK at logo design. So I'd rather leave that to the experts here! I reserve about 30% of my time to nonprofits at no cost or *severely* reduced rates. While there's no design fee for this logo that I can offer, I can offer promotion of the winner's services on the web site when it comes up.

Here is their description from their literature:
"JEWEL stands for “Judging Every Work– Evaluating with Love”. It is an academic and fine arts program designed for Christian students, 1st-12th grades. A local JEWEL Student Conference is an opportunity for students to display their work in various fields of study and to have their work evaluated by experts in those fields. It is also an opportunity for students to observe and learn from the work of their peers. JEWEL is designed to be a teaching tool, encouraging students to achieve their full potential and rewarding them accordingly. To this end, JEWEL offers a structured setting, constructive evaluation criteria, and meaningful awards."

Logo Criteria:
1. Needs to be vectored art
2. Can be designed for 4 color printing, but should also look good in 1 color
3. Should emphasize children somehow, without being "babyish"
4. Would contain the organization name: "The JEWEL Association"

If you need more information to establish a direction, please ask.

Thanks! Nathan Ingram (nathan@brilliantly.net)

Hi Ed... Great work again! :D I like the top logo the best. I prefer the kids being more abstract. I'm a little concerned about the italics holding together and being legible if the logo is smaller.

I'm not quite sure we're there yet. Would love to see some other designs!

Thanks! Nathan

Do you prefer the kids more abstract then the ones in Ed's first design?

Not really. They are abstract enough. Ed's first design is close, but not exactly. I'm not exactly sure what it's missing... which is why I suck at logo design

Thanks!
Nathan

Hi... Sorry for letting this design contest lie dormant for a bit. Ed... the client loves your designs and is making a final decision this week.

Once again, GREAT WORK! :D Thanks!

EJLAIN is the MAN! ... now 2 for 2 in my contests!

The Jewel association was absolutely thrilled with his first design way up top (blue and orange). Thanks Ed for all your work! And thanks Palmer for this great, GREAT resource. Hopefully, I'll have a commercial client soon that needs a logo so I can actually bring a little money to the table next time.

Gratefully,
Nathan Ingram - Brilliant New Media
for the JEWEL Association.
