I need to be able to update my site on my own, which I am pretty sure I can do. I need to be able to add links and photos. If boxes are used for photos and such, I need to be able to manipulate them. I basically need a home page, a sub page for the products (ie. wrappers, by type)( I may be able to create this from the main page design) I also would like for the images to be thumbnails and popup or open a new page when clicked on (for products)

hello there,

i will probably look in to it.. in 12 hours? :)
meaning tomorrow.

i have an idea so meanwhile could you please tell me if you were okay with some things (it would save time for both of us if I wouldnt have to remake the design for some simple reason:)- so i though it would be a good idea for the first time to ask these things Before doing anything..):
1) light background
2) site in the middle(center)
3) kinda minimalistic (fragile/light lines etc) not bold and ..well quite frankly not macho :D
4) colors: light/light-pink/dark-violet
5) probably no photos in the design.. well maybe one in the header.. but i doubt it would look good. :)

and if You have some more ideas about what you are looking for then shoot - it's your money and your design, so it's your call too. maybe you have thought of some possibility already..

1) light background FINE
2) site in the middle(center) Im not sure what you mean? Is this how it is now?
3) kinda minimalistic (fragile/light lines etc) not bold and ..well quite frankly not macho :D (not too bold, and yes NOT macho)
4) colors: light/light-pink/dark-violet Pinks and blues.. If violet will set it off then I'm fine with that too

5) probably no photos in the design.. well maybe one in the header.. but i doubt it would look good. :) I dont think any photos are needed in the design, but Im not a designer :D

another site (probably template) that I like is www.cfcdesigns.com

Shelly, can I see something with boxes similar to what you have on your site in the portfolio?

dziner
06-24-2005, 07:26 AM
I would be happy to show you something using the boxes. Just to be clear, do you mean the boxes in the web site portfolio? and I am not really sure if you mean for me to use them in the area on the right w/ the ad type boxes? or somewhere else?
Just let me know.
Shelly

yes, the boxes in the web portfolio.. I would actually be using them for the sub (or inner) pages, not the ad boxes.

I am not sure if I have nailed down what you want to see, so just let me know if I am off or there is something else you would like to see. The link is below.

ooooh, yes like that. I will probably need to resize the box for when it is multiple catagories, but that looks great..

I guess no one else is going to enter my contest huh?

I don't see why they wouldn't =) I love working on designs like this one. I think a lot of contests went up at the same time and the design team got spread thin.

I love the desings that I have seen you do on the forums here. I definately like this design, but as this will be my 3rd time redoing the site (of course the first two were templates) I would like to sleep on it for a few.

I think I need to extend the deadline, but I'm not sure that will make a difference.

Does anyone else have any other designs?????

I like that design, especially the top, but Shelly's make me feel more happy.. I want to stay there and i want to keep going back to look at it.

Shelly, where did the design go???!!!!

I would like to go with Shelly for this template.

I have a question about your site and the navigation. I realized tonight that you have a lot more items than I saw the first time around and when I found the wedding section it made me realize that you might want to offer visitors the option of shopping by category or shopping by event? I don't know if I were a visitor to your site that I would realize that you do have wine bottle labels with a wedding theme. I will rework the navigation if you want me to... I just thought you have so many adorable items and visitors need to know! =)

i didn't get the notification that there were any replies. Sorry!

In the baby and wedding catagory for wrappings, there are matched designs for different items. Those came in a kit like that. Anything else, is custom and I can make a design to match what I would normally do. The majority of what I do is custom, so its hard for me to say, oh I will have 4 baby pages of wrappers.

I do think, I would like to call them "wrappings" anything that I put a label on is being wrapped, so I think that is cute.

The navigation right now, is definately not the best, which is why I want to have it right and be done with it.. I spend so much time worried about my site, that I don't really update it because I am always thinking of a way to change it.

Do you have any ideas how you would re-work the navigation?

Ok, below are links to a possible navigation structure. I really didn't change much, just made it shop by item or shop by category and pulled that concept into the item pages themselves. You may want to re-word or rearrange the things... or maybe have another idea you would like to see, in which case just let me know. Thank you!!

Shelly, those look great!! I like the by occasion and by item thing.. Will I be able to add buttons/links if I get more products? One thing, can we change candy wrappers to "wrappings"? and for the top part of the boxes, can we have a little texture on the header?

I think I have everything ready to send. The zip will include the following html pages: home, about, gifts, wrappings, weddings, wedding bubbles. I also made you graphic headers for all of the pages. (ie: about us, contact us etc..) As well as the headers for gifts, invitations etc... One question, I know you said you use Dreamweaver, do you also use Fireworks to edit any graphics? Because I can send the .png files or the .psd files.. whichever will be best for you.
