Greetings all

I am looking for a new company logo

The company name is..........Genesis Landscaping

I have a logo now in Tshirts and other apparel....Nothing on the vehicles other than lettering.

The logo I am asking you to design would be all purpose. Apparel, vehicles, website, stationary....

I am looking for anything that strikes my fancy. Traditional to contemporary to cutting edge.

I would like to adhear to the theme of what the word Genesis represents.....The origin. The beginning. Creation, etc.

Those are basic guidelines.....if they realy are guidelines. ;)

I don't have a specific deadline in mind, though I would prefer not to drag this out.

Lets see what the designers come up with and then we'll work together towards a final design.

Interesting Samoyloff. I like that you approached the idea behind the meaning of "Genesis"....

Perhaps you have other ideas?

Maybe I can offer more about us that may help the creative process.

We are what would be considered an upscale full service landscape company. Leaders in the industry and where we find others trying to emulate. Uniformed personel, dump trucks all the same and same coloring....white cabs with black dump bodies....White pickups. Uniform colors are tan and a kinda a pastel green. Lettering on trucks are light green with dark green shadow on the white.......on the black it is light green.

As far as the logo art work......corporate, classy and dignified. Untilizing the "Genesis" Landscape related theme.

I fully understand that trying to create art work that represents, creation, the beginning, the origin is not easy to work with.

I did actualy try another source for a logo.........But here at Design Outpost......the very first submission hit on what I am looking for.

Looking forward to other creations.

The layout works well for the back of Tshirts....not sure if suitable for stationary, business cards, website or the trucks.

Let me ask the designers..............would it work better for you all if I posted pics of the trucks as they are now?.....and I may have a pic of the back of a Tshirt we are using now.

I like your entry, though the gradient won't work to well with certain applications. Text style to generic....What else you got?
#2 entry text is pretty cool. The bite out of an apple, I don't know doesn't work for me.....though it is a very nice idea....What else you got?

First entry is very cute and do like it alot. Just that the layout as is won't work well for truck lettering. Text is nice, has a sophisticated elegence. 1c entry is interesting.......what can you come up with for emblems on left?

Let me post pics of my trucks now.....This may help with design layout. I fully understand that layouts can be changed for different applications.....but if the emblems are just to big for trucks then.....it's not worth the effort.....Hope you all understand and agree. :)

Very nice......looks great on the left. One thing that worries me is the text style.....My truck sign guy when we first had trucks done we chose a style from a listing of fonts. If yours is hand drawn...I dunno if that can be plotted....I would think so, I would have to ask him.
One other request........what would it look like If I had to use the artwork as the centered background behind "Genesis"?

Cool artwork....clean business like and a corporate feel that I am kinda looking for.....though the text is rather generic...Can you please Jazz up the text a bit....In the art work remove the lower white slash.....not sure what it is supposed to represent.

That works very well..........though I am more attached to the first text style that you used. I have to ask..........Can you try an artsy kind of text for the word Genesis so we can see what that looks like.
And just a thought now I am thinking....The art work, yes it's nice, can you bulk it up a bit fill it in more? The large image on the truck door looked like it was lacking something.

was there a particular image you'd like to see in that style? Shall i try it with all three?

It would be good to get the question answered from the sign guy. The type in my entry would be delivered the same way as any other type in the competition, it's digitally hand drawn, so it would be outlines just the same as if you were to convert any font to outlines. Hopefully the signwriter won't have a problem, if you can provide an eps and a hardcopy for them. (last time i went to a sign writer, thats what i provided them, but that was just for a large sticker, not sure about individual decals/lettering)

What I was asking.......the art work in 2b and 2c what if you were to overlay the word Genesis on top........making the art work the back ground. Is that possible?

Emblem is very cool and we do like it very much. Has a Ying and Yang similar to the Korean flag. Message #38 is right on.....Though I would like to see the top in Yellow...........Here is another thought. Can you use the same emblem format.......remove the 3 up and down hash marks create something sprouting or growing in the upper part (not grass more like a plant) and represent roots below.....Use the same coloring you you and also try it with the yellow on top.

I like your work and ideas.......the emblem has me hung up on not appearing to be a viable corporate identity. It just seems to be to simple....I know it does represent what I asked for. I just feel it could be more than what it is.

If you can rethink your approach and dazzle me with something unigue and what I am asking for in the openning post, great. General..I like that much better than the first emblem..though I would like to see if possible a better leaf design?

kr8tiv....I like the yellow.....not what I asked for.....I like the top and bottom. Yellow on top, green bottom with that white wavy line seperating them.......Is it possible to create within that a representation of above and below branching? Kinda like a tree top and roots below......roots being in the green section, top of tree/plant in the yellow?

General #7....That emblem we are going to work with......Text, I would like to see different text styles.......I am not to partial to the box lettered affect you show for "landscaping" It won't work to well if it has to be stretched. Bolder for "Genesis" and perhaps a shadow?

Kre8tiv - Lets take message #31 top of page 2......3 hash marks top and 3 down. Yellow on top......dark green below. Now here is another thought....Same emblem idea........instead of white dividing line and hash marks lets see what it would look like in the lighter green. I am also liking the text better in that one as well. Though can Genesis be a little bolder? Color is fine......Cause as it is lighter above the darker also brings in that ying and yang thing........the lighter upper representing new growth and the darker green representing older established growth.

General.....you can do the same thing with text as I mentioned to kre8tiv

General the text doesn't thrill me........it looks choppy. Caps is better, what you are showing in #12 is kinda difficult to read. Something more free flowing, less rigid

Please refer to page 1 message #22......I provided pics of my trucks..please use the first one for reference........see how the lettering is a little shadowed?.......I would like to see both designs just the word "Genesis" shaded......General, you may have to lighten up the green color to be effective, maybe a similar shade to what kre8tiv is using.


I think these last 2 are definitely getting us much closer to the end of this project.

Kre8tiv.......on the emblem......do you see the 3 hash marks going down into the dark green.....they are going kinda down to the right? While in the yellow they are going up to the left?
Can you reverse the 3 hash marks in the yellow, going up to the right, so that in essence you would have a tall lazy S affect

If you can take the text from #68 and you and I tweak the emblem. Rotate so that the yellow is directly above the dark green.....Have the dark green outer circle......make the leaves larger, fill in the space between and just inside the outer circle with white, or what ever background color a truck, shirt maybe....

In other words........Take the emblem and text from #68 put your leaves into it. That will do it for me and you win

What I would like to see with the emblem, use verison 21, A little wider outer circle......extend the leaves up and down so that there is only white between the leaf and the circle, close up between them a little and take out the dark green replace with white and make the bottom leaf dark green...

version 13 is just not going to work.

In version 12......the white seperating the yellow and green.......did you make it wider than what is shown on top of page 2?


Or is it just the fact that you made it larger in version 12?

I like the affect shown on top of page 2 much better.



OK and might as well at this time award you the win for this contest. Showed the two designs to people that are extremely artisticaly talented, so I value their opinion. Both chose your design, of which coinsidentaly I wanted all along..:)


the middle seperating line on top of page 2 had more of a sweep/swale affect than the version 12 you are showing........version 12 appears almost straight. Can you please change that.

kre8tiv.......can you please rotate the emblem on both version 14 and 15 to the left a little so that the dividing white space is more towards the top of the G in Genesis, refer to your design on top of page 2.

14A the yellow is to thick.....looks top heavy

15A is fine.


Just one more revision. As you have the white center lined up towards the G is perfect in both 14A and 15A.......But can you flip it over and rotate so that the center line aligns the same way to the G........but that flipping it over will give it the appearance that it is to rotate clockwise.......not counter clockwise......I just think it will flow better and represent the circle of life better or the cycle of life. Cause I can use "Cycle of Life" for the representation of the emblem......as I can for the text and the color choices having lighter colored text over the darker.
