I thought i'd clarify a couple design concepts:

1. Site should be designed to be 800x600 viewable (therefore, approx. 750 pixels wide max).

2. Site should be centered.

3. Site should have white background (mostly -can have coloured background as above examples to highlight certain areas) - with an approrpriate contrasting text type.

Hi Anne,

Glad to see your participation - looks great - couple changes.

1. Logo looks a little "small" - could you enlarge it a little bit to make it more proportinate to the overall design? Also, i have no slogan for the site, therefore, the words "not applicable" don't need to be there, and neither does that line :)

2. In the box where you say "recent forum links" go , can you perhaps create a little header like you did for all the other areas (newsletter, news and events, etc) which says "Recent Forum Posts". Also, in this box can you create 5 "fake" forum posts, so i can see how they would look like in the box (instead of an empty box).

3. Instead of saying "community" in the top bar, can you say "community forum".

4. Instead of "Wather Today", it should say "Weather Today".

5. Finally, can you create another area, and in this area creat another "header" graphic, which says "Featured Companies" - this area can be underneath the "weather today" and the "Recent forum posts area", and take up the full width of the window - it shold say "Featured Companies" , and you can put 5 "box" spacers which will be graphics for various companies eventually.

Hi Anne,

Looks great - something about the "top logo" part still doesn't look right to me - the logo looks like it just doesn't "fit in" - anything that can be done to better integrate it into the design? Not sure "what we can do" - but it just seems a litlte out of place.

Hi Anne,
Thanks for your revision - the change doesn't really work for me - however, i think that logo size may work - can you try incorporating the logo at about that size into the design in message #9 (with changes below). Also, can you try incorporating the design in message #9 (with changes below) with the "small logo" in your first designs, so i can compare the two next to each other?

Also, instead of the words "Web Directory" - can you change this to "Information Center". Also, at the bottom, instead of "Featured Companies", can you please list it as "Featured Advertisers".

Otherwise, i really like the overall look of the design - let me see these revisions and then we can just leave it at that.... and see if anyone else chimes in.

The problem with the logo being that big in this design is that it will take up a lot of space on the top. I'll try working it in, in another way tomorrow.

I understand the dilemna - maybe there can be some kind of vertical "bar" at the top of the page? m aybe something like that would work...it looks great - just the logo seems a little out of place..maybe it's just me? how do you feel?

Quick Update:

Thanks guys for your submissions and constant revisions - there are several designs that i think are great in this forum - and the quality has been way above expectations.

If no one chimes in with any more variations in the next 24hrs, i'll pass this by a couple of my colleagues, and see what they say - and maybe we can havea winner picked a little earlier then the deadline (tommorrow).

Thanks for the revisions - i like the front page - however, not completely satisifeid with the "subpage" - i don't like how the "tabs" are - look a little too narrow - and overall, don't like the design of the different links

can you perhaps come up with another sample (1-2?) for the subpage and we can go from there?

Hi Cosmic- ireally like your second revision there - looks great - quick question, if i were to request one additinoal subpage from you (it woud be a page witha couple buttons, etc, for each individual company ) - how can we go abuot doing something like that?

What are the specifics for this page? It won't be a problem for get it done

The additional page should be a page for an individual company - for example, it should look something like this:

http://www.gowholesale.com/directory/list_directory?directory_id=51

It should have company name, address, phone number, the categories it's listed in , a rating area (up to 5 stars), a review area for brief reviews, and a place to "send the link to a friend" , "provide feedback", and a link / graphic to bring up a map of the location of the business...

I hope that makes sense..something that looks like above would work great.
