Hello,
I'm needing a postcard designed for special sevices for our church. Our church name is New Life Ministries. Address is 12506 Hwy. 165 North Little Rock, AR 72117. Phone number is 501-961-1075. Web address is www.newlifenlr.org. The contact info will need to be on there. It also needs to say, "Join us for two nights of emotional healing as author and speaker Rex Johnson reflects on his journey from grief to grace. We thought it might be good for some questions to be asked in larger print at the top to draw attention as these will be mailed out. Some examples are "Has life been unfair?" "Divorce?" "Loss of loved one?" The dates are July 21,22 at 7:30 p.m. A member of our staff thought it would be neat to have all different sayings like depressed?, lonely?, fear?, broken?, confused?, divorced?, in the background of the postcard. I've seen that on material in the past.
We also do not want the "marking" for a stamp. Just leave that blank. I've attached the back of our church business card. The directions we use for our church is on there. They need to be on the postcard.
Thanks for all of your help. I look forward to hearing from you

Hey,
I'm not really sure what to put on the back. I don't have any graphics. We do have a logo but it's not digital. I'm open to anything you guys come up with.
Thanks

Perhaps a picture of Rex Johnson in the background? Or would this not be a good idea?

I don't know. I don't have a picture of him. It would probably be a good idea though.
thanks

Hey,
I've got a copy of his book, and his picture is on the back. It's kinda small though. If I scanned that, could you blow it up and make it work? I really like that idea.
Thanks
mryanmelton,
One thing to consider is that if you scan an image from a book, you have to have a release from the person who took the picture, and sometimes the subject themselves to use the picture.
If you can get that approval, and can scan the image, please scan it at 300dpi. That is the resolution needed for high quality print work. The image may be very large and may need to be compressed into a ZIP file before posting on Design Outpost.
Once done, you can either post directly in this thread, or email to michael @ designoutpost.com and he will post it for the designers.

Do you have a high quality picture of your church that could be used to :)
mryanmelton,
I have taken your logo and created digital files of it. I am attaching a zip file which contains all the files you would need, including Illustrator, EPS, GIF, JPG, PNG and Layered PSD. These will help the designers in creating the postcard for you and you can download them and use as needed.
Also, the fonts used in your logo are Bradley Hand ITC and Verdana Bold.

Here's my first design for your postcard project. I chose to go with a very graphic, emotional, in-your-face layout that is sure to get looked at. I realize that churches have many different philosophies when it comes to the image that they choose to protray so if this is beyond what your staff is comfortable with just let me know and I'll work on something more conservative.
If this is going in the proper direction I will post the back side of the card as well. One question however: will you be printing full color on both sides or do you prefer the back side to be only 1 or 2 colors for bugetary purposes?
Thank you.

I really like the concept/layout/face etc. Perhaps a little lighter on the graphics however. I like the face appearing concerned, perhaps not so "dead" looking however.
Full color on both sides is fine
Also, "New Life Pentecostal Church" should be changed to "New Life Ministries."
Thanks

Mryanmelton,
Any comments on mine? Should I take an opposite approach?

Shima,
I really do think that a more bold/eyecatching/readable/"to the point" approach would be more what we are looking for.
Thanks

Here's a tamer version of my previous post. Feedback is of course much appreciated. I have yet to update the logo obviously but that can be done easily. If this is a design that interests you I'll get to work on the back.

Mike,
I like your first post much better. I'm afraid that in this one we are getting away from the way the first just reaches out and grabs you. I love the tree, colors and face on the first one. The only thing I was wanting you to do was work on the face on the first one. Is there a way to take the orange/red "Splattering" from her face and maybe add just a "tint" of color and the concept still look good. There's just something about the color scheme that looks like blood splattered on her forehead to me. Everyone that I've shown, really loves the concept, however.

Luk,
Very nice. A couple of things. Can you extend the brown background over a little farther to the right and fade out closer to the lady. The white on grey is a little hard to read, ie the words emotional healing and grace. Also, I like the wording in the background up top. However, how about bringing 2 or 3 words to the forefront over the water to make more readable. Such as Depressed?, Lonely?, Confused? Leave the other ones in the Background as they are.
Thanks

my entry ...
comments welcome
Thanks for your feedback. I'm sorry though I had to pull out my entry because it is the same as Mike's entry, conceptually - sad face & text on the left.

Well, I've made a decision.
First of all, thank all of you for your incrediblie designs. It has been a very tough decision. We've had several members of our church staff helping in the decision process. They have all been amazed at the quality that has been displayed on design outpost. I am sure you will be hearing from us in the very near future.
We've decided to go with Elkootcho's design. All of you were very good. Thanks for your hard work.
Sincerely,
Ryan M.

Elkootcho,
Please change the "New Life Pentecostal Church" on the front to "New Life Ministries". Also there are some spots on the girls face in the lower right hand corner. Please remove those.
On the back replace the text that you had with this.
"There comes a time in life when we all battle feelings of depression, fear, loneliness and sadness. Hear Pastor Rex Johnson tell his own story of his struggle to overcome the tragic loss of his wife and young son. Don't miss this oppurtunity to have rays of hope shine across your path.
Also instead of "To reserve your seat" put "For more information". Remove the website as well. Our website is absolutely horrible and we're in the process of having it redone. Everything else is perfect.
Thanks a ton,
Ryan M.

Thank Ryan. I've made the changes that you've asked for and have sent a private message with download instructions. If you have any difficulty with the file or if your printer requires a different format just let me know.
