Hi all!
My name is Mustafa, or Musti shortly.
I'm the founder of a brandnew, innovative information & online consultancy portal, BilgiKurdu. We're located in Turkey.
We are preparing the background services at the moment. But we need a foreground presentation, which will be the marketing side of our project.
So we need 1 main and 2 sub pages for it. I've prepared a brief at the following link for you:
http://www.karmaegitim.com.tr/demo/brief.doc
And you may find the resources that you need in the following file:
http://www.karmaegitim.com.tr/demo/resource.rar
I've seen your work here. And believe each one of you is brilliant, so me and my partners decided to try this site.
We need really a brilliant, eyecatching site to catch every visitor and make him/her comeback with curiosity.
We did not give any sites we like or dislike, because we didn't want to influence your creativity at this point.
Thank you for your participation in advance.
Merhaba Musti, :D
D.O'ya hoşgeldin projene katılmaktan büyük keyif alıcağımı bilmeni isterim.
Translation for if somebody getting curios about what I say

Hi All! I know you're all busy, like I do, but just wondered if any entries are likely to be submitted till weekend.
Need to know this so we can adjust our roadmap.
Thank you!
Musti

Thank you Pod. I'll need at least 3 designers' entries to make a solid decision.
Can you give us some high quality sites/url that appeals to you.

Can you give us some high quality sites/url that appeals to you.
Hi Luc. I didn't want to give you any sites not to limit your creativity. Just feel free to play with the resources I gave. I wanna see how you blend those, after then I'll give my critics or sites if really needed.
Thank you
Hmm. That will be hard for me to figure out. Can you at least tell me if you are after a simple, corporate, minimal style, etc.

Hmm. That will be hard for me to figure out. Can you at least tell me if you are after a simple, corporate, minimal style, etc.
OK. I can tell you that I'm not a mimalistic guy. I'd prefer to have a site that would give the visitor a pleasing experience with eyecatching layout, simple navigation (but fun), more of a corporate but not too serious. Detailed explanation is on the resource.rar file. And you can check our stationaries to decide what we like.
I think you saw our mentor, he is a funny guy. :D So let's make this experience a cheerful one for us and the future visitors.
Final word; I find this site very appealing:
http://www.oyunsalonu.com . Not the colors, not the navigation but the blend of them.
In your brief, you did not include the menu > Home About etc. Please give this detail.

In your brief, you did not include the menu > Home About etc. Please give this detail.
Hi Luc. The menu information is included inside resource.rar file under the name "buttoninformation.xls". It is an excel file. And it shows every menu and button info.
If it is the 3 buttons for Home-SiteMap-Contact you're talking about, they can take place on the right side over the top menu bar.
Thank you.

Hi Folks! We decided to guide you a bit for the contest, because we think you're reluctant because of not having sufficient guidance.
So here are the styles we like. You can read the names and understand why we like them.
Enjoy! :D
How do I open the logo file, it's a .FH11 file???

Musti,
I'll get involved as long as the contest is not cancelled if you don't get the requested 3 entries. I'd appreciate your formal commitment on this request as my time is as important as yours' and other designers' here and I'd hate to see that wasted. :)
If we do proceed, will you require HTML templates to be built out or just the final artwork in either PNG or PSD format? If HTML, how many and what pages?
Finally, could you re-post that .rar file in a different format, perhaps .zip or .tar? I am on Mac OS X and can't open rar's.

Hi Geof. As you say time is criticalfor everyone of us. I really did my best to have anyone's attention on this contest. Unfortunately something went wrong. I'm running out of time but still running a business. :)
Anyways I'd appreciate your efforts if you get involved. My partners decided to extend the deadline till 12th.
All information you need is inside the resource file. I'm attaching it in the zip format. If any questions remain unanswered please raise your hand! :D
Thank you for your interest.

Thank you Anne for the start.
-First of all, you should check out our stationaries to understand the colors we used. We want similar tones, colors also for the portal design.
-So no pink or red colors. Yellow, green and hot, ground colors.
-Logo should be smaller on the topleft. The mentor idea is cute. We may keep it..
-For header, we would like you to use another photo. Ours is just an example. But it should give the same feeling.
-You can use the wavy shape in our brochures at the background of the header.
-For top menu, we would like to have icons instead of areas over the menu bar. This should be developed in flash.
-All the menu areas (navigation, portal login, news and trainings menus) should be of different colors. Like pale green, hot yellow, and their relevant tones or colors.
-To have some eyecatching feeling you can play with the background color instead of white.
That's all for now.
Thank you
I'll make the revision but if you require flash I won't. If that's the case you need to let us know so I don't waste my time and spend hours on a design that I know won't make it to the end :)
Also I am not able to open the brochure file because I don't have Freehand MX.

OK. In our brief we said:
Top Menu must be composed of relevant icons. When pointer is over them they must either change color, or shape. We prefer it to be developed with Flash.
So it is a preferance. If you believe you can give this effect or feeling by your own way, it is fine with us.
ok, That can be made without using flash :)
Do you also have the brochures in other formats?
.jpg would be fine

I'm posting in zip file. I wou8ld also suggest you to check out StylesWeLike.zip file in the previous posts. This can give you an idea about what we need.
Here's one with darker/sharper colors :)
Not sure about the picture though.
Is this more what you're looking for?

Top Menu must be composed of relevant icons. When pointer is over them they must either change color, or shape. We prefer it to be developed with Flash.
I'll be using XHTML and CSS to achieve this effect - no Flash required. That way, you can use HTML text for all links which results in easier maintenance for you later on, better search engine rankings and much quicker page load times.
Speaking of XHTML, I prefer to build all websites using a tableless design; I use CSS to position all elements on a page. The result is a website that works great on Internet Explorer 5.5 and 6, Netscape 7, Firefox 1+, Opera 8 and Safari on Mac OS X. The only caveat is that it won't display properly on Netscape 4, but for that I will provide a browser upgrade page like this http://www.adiyukon.com/browser.php. If you are happy with this outcome, please let me know and I will proceed.
I can also produce a HTML table design with CSS but you'll lose some of the benefits of XHTML: cleaner code, easier maintenance for you later on, better search engine rankings and much quicker page load times.
I'll leave the decision up to you.

OK Geof. Let's see how XHTML and CSS integrate and build an outcome! Sorry, one addition:My team is expert on ASP, .Net adn XML,HTML. If you're planning a PHP site that wouşdn't be suitable for us???

All colors changed
-Background color is too dark. Maybe it's better to use a pale green, like the tone in the letter K inside the logo??
Logo made smaller
Smaller we need.
Replaced the image and added curves. I'll search for a better picture :) Yes that'd be great.
Changed the menu and added small icons. Maybe you are thinking of different icons for each menu item?
-Yes I'm thinking to use different relevant icons representing the items.
-No, not all the colors changed. What I said was all the menu areas (rectangular areas) should be of different colors to enable the visitor to make distinction and choose directly what he/she wants. Simply, for the sake of an easier navigation. :D
You may use very light green for navigation menu area, a pastel tone of a ground color for training, blue for portal login area, and a pastel yelllow for news area. Blending all these is up to you! Am I being so demanding??

Thanks Gökçe.
First of all your desing is a bit far away from what I've given in my brief. Actually I've given the layout so that designers wouldn't think over what to put where, and give their efforts to how to make the site shiny, eyecatching. So if you can have a look at the Mainlayout.gif in my resource file, you'd be getting closer at least to the main needs.
Artistic or graphical concerns will come later. will be waiting for your revision. :o)
Thank you for your efforts.
Hi,
Thanks for feedback ( I see your layout on resource folder but I just wanna try something different) I will also try to design something new for you with your layout too..
Kind Regards

Musti,
Thanks for your feedback on my design. Glad to hear you like the colours. Now about your suggestions regarding some page elements...
I can shrink the logo and line up the left/right menus - no problem. Please recognize though I raised the left menus because I felt they had more importance to the user finding their way in your website. Putting them at a higher level shows that they are key elements compared to the login box or news headlines.
Framing the header with a border would really break up my current layout, which depends on the top curve for page flow. This is something I'm not prepared to do with my layout as it would require a complete rethink on the design.
While I can add in your photo of the office guy doing a handstand as part of the curve, straight boxy shapes just won't work here.
I'd like to know your thoughts on this. If you feel that a framed header is neccesary no matter the included shapes, please confirm this design requirement. I'd based my design on your mainlayout.gif file but I did not know that straight lines were part of the standard package for this contest.

Absolutely fantastic Anne! No more revision is needed at this point from you. Thank you.

geof
Geof,
This is the approach we would like to achieve in the site. But we'd prefer giving this level of importance with differentiating the menur area colors and letting the visitor choose whtever she/he likes. We think our job corresponds to this kind of approach best. So lining up and givinf different colors to the menus is crucial.
Framing the header with a border would really break up my current layout, which depends on the top curve for page flow. This is something I'm not prepared to do with my layout as it would require a complete rethink on the design.
geof
Why framing? Because we have 2 basic aims for the area:..
1-An animated header of BilgiKurdu over the area integrated with the logo,
2-Future banner exchanges from other sites for chrged or barter deals.
So we need framed header.
While I can add in your photo of the office guy doing a handstand as part of the curve, straight boxy shapes just won't work here.
geof
Geof,
That pic. is just a sample to make you feel the mood and think "how fun it is to be in this site" from the visitors point of view. You shold suggest us a relevant photograph (having similar "corporate but funny" feeling), so we can use it on the site.
Mainlayout.gif is done to make you think over the design less, but the creativity and artistic approach more.
:D
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the comments - greatly appreciated.
Unfortunately I need to drop out of your contest. I recently won another here at Design Outpost and need to concentrate on that...time is very limited for me and so I need to make the most of what I've got.
Looks like you've got some great entries though. Sorry I couldn't go any further - best of luck with your business!

As we looked at the main page, it seemed too colorful and less functional. What we asked for didn't seemed right. So to give it a balance, I used my superb photoshop knowledge ;) and created these two.

How is this :)
Awesome!
-Can you make the color of the "Trainings" menu header same as the "egitimlerimiz" button? (3rd on the top menu?) Since they are about the same topic, it would be nice to have the same colors.
-And, will putting some "end lines" under the menu areas, the same color as the headers, make the main page much bigger in size? If not, let's put some line as I did in var.1.
-What do you think about the header area? Is it too big? Would it look nicer and be more functional if we make it smaller? (150 px. and the worm in the middle a bit smaller?)
-About the menus: Can I see an html example of it, to see how it works, rollover effects etc.?
Lines added, color changed. Also made some small adjustments to the picture in the header, Can you see the difference ? :)
I can make html for the menu later today, maybe. I am going out for dinner so it might not be before tonight.

Yes I can. Thank you.
I guess I'll also need to see how it would look like if we make the header area 150 px. and the worm a bit smaller. Couple of my friends told me that it looks really fine alltogether, but the header is very dominant. ;)
Here's one with a smaller header. Do you have an email address where I can send the html with the rollover effect?

Yes I did. The change should be in the index.psd, on the navigation menu. The last one will be changed to Online Danismanlik and the back color will be yellow, as you did before.
You mean the last one the left navigation menu? That was changed using css and not photoshop because you asked for the changes after I did the coding. I can of course add it to the psd fil. I'll send you the file ASAP :)
