$125 to winner...

Project Summary

Intro: Seeking revised logo for international independent foundation. www.bwri.org to become Public Health and Water Research Institute International (PWRII (Power 2 or Power of 2).)

Text to Include: Public Health and Water Rearch Institute International

Product/Service: Independent foundation funds research on water and the link to public health

Founded: 4/05

Accomplish: Repositioning as separate from Brita/Clorox

Long Term Goals: Become the international thought leader and an important research link in the link between public health and consumption of safe, quality water

Audience Profile

Audience includes governments, public and private foundations and academia. Also includes consumer public and educational institutions (elementary schools, etc.) and print/broadcast media. Final audience includes scientific researchers seeking funds (grantees.)

No additional audiences sought at this time.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines

Colors: Green, blue (see www.bwri.org)

Specific Images: Scientific Beaker (see www.bwri.org)

Comments:
Existing foundation needs to explore modified identity due to confusion w/ Brita/Clorox. Will eventually include all materials (stationery, etc.). Please see www.bwri.org site for existing logotype elements, which need to be incorporated/morphed into new name. Emphasis on 'the power of 2' and/or H2O (water) and the link to public health is extremely important.

Communication Strategy

Attributes for Logo:

Consumer advocate
Scientific experts in water research and public health
Independent agency
Thought leader
US-based
International scope
Collaborative
Prestigeous

Tagline or Slogan: Still in draft - likely to be something such as:

The Power of H2O
Water is Life
Without Water, Nothing Grows
Water Powers Life

Overall Message: We facilitate knowledge by adding to and/or improving the existing scientific research resources, contributing to the water/public health agenda, and facilitating/underscoring the importance of water to the health of all living things.

Competitive URLs: None - we are not a competitive organization, we are complementary to all existing governmental, nonprofit and academic institutions.

Unique Value: We serve as a collaborative link between research organizations and funders to further the objectives above. In this way, we are uniquely qualified and focused on international research, researchers, issues and outcomes in this field of study.

Targeted Message: PHWRII (pronounced Power2) is the focused independent research funding and collaboration partner that will help make it happen; Call PHWRII first.

DEADLINE: 7/25/05

Hi :)

I'll have to remind you that the designers aren't allowed any personal communication with the clients while the project is running, so please don't ask them to e-mail you or send Personal Messages.

Also, you may want to elaborate a little more on your brief, here's a template with basic points you may want to clarify: http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7819

Thanks :)

Hi - I like the green one. You can drop the "H" out - we really want to focus on the PWRII. The beaker needs to stay in this - the foundation folk are committed to it.

This is going to be tough - because we also need the logo to work small enough to be on the corner of an envelope, or on an invitation without coming on like a 'mack truck.'

Maybe, like McDonald's, it needs to have a graphic identifier that works with or without the actual name in words?

Keep green/blue - and water drop. Really like both of those.

ED's current business cards are slightly stylized. Corners are rounded, but also italicized. Don't know how to explain this and don't have the art to show you, but it's sort of rounded corners, going to the right...

Hi - I like this. Can you show me what it looks like without the 'words' - i.e., what it would look like the size needed for a business card?

This is almost there - can you make the 'drop' a little smaller? I know it's a beaker, but am concerned that others will not 'get' it.

If I could have by 8:00 CST tomorrow morning (Tuesday), it would rock.

Thank you -

Hi - You are the contest winner. I'd like to see some additional alternatives, but we can now take this out of the contest area.

Hi - sorry - couldn't find you in the Revisions area...

Can I please see:

- "drop" as part of the circle itself (thereby making the circle the 'world')
- make the 'blue' the 'Brita blue' - you can find that on the www.bwri.com site, and/or on the Clorox/Brita site (there should be information re: using the logo, I think.)

Then, can I please see the above, with and without bubbles? (They may be interpreted as chemicals - not what we want to convey.)

Could those be dropletts?

We want to convey healthy, safe water....

We're almost there -

Also, can you please begin preparing a quote for stationery, business cards, etc.? We'll do that off this site.

CG.

Hi Bart,

Will advise - I like 3 the best but I'll let you know.

Also - can you please give me a quote on stationery and b-card designs?

The original web-vendor will modify www.bwri.org

If I could get a quote sometime today, that would be great -

Thanks,

Cherylj

Cheryl... if you could email me I can get that quote to you since we are not doing the stationery through Design Outpost. I prefer not to disclose that info in here to prevent any problems.

Thanks - I needed the 'prompt' this morning.

Like #5 - can you change the green color to the 'teal' color on the bwri site? I'm concerned that the Clorox blue is overpowered by the green now.

(plus I'm dealing with someone who will 'know it when he sees it'.)

This should do it, I think -

Thanks, Bart.

Bart -

Disconnect in communication here... I mean't my direct email re: the stationery, b.cards, etc. I didn't even know there was a private email here - so didn't ever check it.

Here's the last on the logo.

Would like to see the one we like (#5) in one alternative font. The contrast we're looking for is that our existing font is very clean, and 'simple,' - can we see one that is more complex, that makes more of a unique statement?

Thanks, Bart.

I didn't get an email from this site when you last posted in the private section (all three times). Can you please also email me a check the site note so I know to look here?

I appreciate it -

Cheryl.

Keep the last color scheme - all about #5 is good - I just need to show them an alternative font.

OK Cheryl...
This is the correct color combination for Brita water companies. This is a little bit different font with a lot a lot of character in all of the alphabet and is not a standard font. This is a specialty font from a very reputable designer. I think this one will give you a little more of that unique feel! let me know what you think!

Bart,

Thanks, and thanks for the email note (I wasn't notified by the DO site.) I'm fine with the font - but does this mean we'd need to purchase it from the owner, and then pay an annual fee to use it? How will it 'transfer' electronically, and on paper into people's email systems? How about for eventual advertising? I've had problems with this kind of thing before (although - it was centuries ago....)

I need electronic versions of the card and stationery by Tuesday (Mon would rock, if you can pull it off.) I'm around all weekend (don't know if you're working) and so can get things back to you, as necessary. It's also fine to call me at 847-526-9790.

PS - your on-line portfolio rocks.

Cheryl.
