Hi everyone, I need a template designed for our company ... i'm not a designer, so feel free to ask me in more detail about some things I put below if they don't make sense

Deadline
July 7th 2003, Before Midnight EST

Files Requested
- HTML
- Adobe Photoshop
- Any Fonts used (if non-standard)

Background:
3E Vision is a consulting firm specializing in providing comprehensive solutions to challenges in an organization. 3E Vision is committed to deliver solutions that encompass these three core values:
- Effective
- Efficient
- Excellent

we provide a variety of services, including but not limited to:
- Technical Support
- Network & Hardware support & installation
- Web Development
- Application Development
- Business plan consulting

Words / Phrases
Effective, Efficient, Excellent should be in there somewhere, and there's a phrase that I have to discuss with my partners, will post it tomorrow

Colors
Blue would be the main colour, with Silver as secondary colour. feel free to blend in other colours, as long as the main colours are featured.

Style
we need a professional and contemporary / cutting edge looking site.

Logo
Attached to this post, but wouldn't mind having it changed if it can be blended into the new design. If you think that you can create a better design with a new logo, but think the logo design is worth more, please PM / email me and we will talk.
Preferred logo should be modern / technological in style

Links
We would like to be able to add links in the future, please take this into consideration when designing the links (either button, graphic or text)

we'd like to reserve the sole right to use the winning template as we deem fit. If you have any questions, please feel free to PM or e-mail me

Xterior ... thanks for the reply. I like the design of the site . the logo looks cool, except that it took me awhile to figure out where the 3 was .. it blended in too much with the background on the top left and bottom left logos. The middle one I like

could you make the logo look a bit more clear ? maybe with a

|_ at the bottom left and a similar one at the top right of the logo ?

and the word Vision also on the bottom left logo ( ie not just 3E) ...

I'll let my partners know and see their comments .. will post them later on .. those were just mine ..

Palmer... we don't have anything at all at the moment .... none of us are designers, mostly techies, programmers ... and believe me .. we tried to design it ourselves .... not ... so ... good :)

Regarding the template, the reason I was asking was to get an idea of how many links you think you'll have, what they were named and some sample content to put in the body of the design.

Don't worry about it though, I've named the links LINK ONE, LINK TWO etc, and I can use Lorem Ipsum for the content.

I'll finish it by this evening.

hi guys... i have some feedback from my partners:

- XTerior : ... the logo still somehow doesn't look right... dunno what to do about that.. can you play around with it a bit more ?

- Lang : .. mouse looks weird..can you find some other pic to put there ? the pillars look very nice .. can you make the left part : semi-circle and everything in it smaller (ie not take half the page, so we can put more in the text area) .. and have a different font for the links

- Palmer : haven't got much input yet . will get some more on Monday and I'll post their comments ..

palmer... i finally got some feedback.. but i'm not sure how to put it in words .. so I'll just quote what some ppl said :
- 'A bit too techno ' (I think in terms of font is what they meant)
- 'too in your face somehow ...'
- 'something just doesn't seem right ...'

that doesn't help much does it :) ... again.. all of us are coming from non-designer backgrounds.. so pls bear with us if that doesn't make sense... I'll pry more information out of them . But for me.. I think the top part could use different background (especially the dots) and maybe some other colours to make things more interesting...

hi everyone... ok after a meeting from the team.. here's the feedback I could get :

xTerior :
- Love the design
- can you put something / design in the top part of the page so it's not just plain white
- Logo .. can you try the first logo, but with reversed colours ?
- larger font size for the links (if this is just css / html I can do it later on)

Huscy :
- I like how you put the keywords on the side
- Need some variation on the layout of the site and colour... looks a bit plain

Lang:
- Very good layout - interesting design
- We wanna emphasize the 3 pillars, can you somehow make it more clearer ?
- Change the logo
- The "3E Vision" on the top section is very
awkward
- Need to eliminate white space in the middle

Kool Bryan
- I like the overall design
- Nice layout, colour is a tiny bit too light and a bit bright
- I like where the links are, it's different, but will have problems when we have to add more links to them, can you try putting them somewhere else?
- it should be 3E vision, not E3 ... and the other keyword, Excellent should be in there
- You said you had 2 designs ... I would love to see the other one :)

I am not sure what you mean by reversed colors for the logo, can you explain what you mean please?

I will work on something in the top right portion of the design.

The links are actually a font called Silkscreen (would be images). Any larger than 9pt and looks like crap. I will convert it to Verdana or something like that.

xterior.. you know how you had the 3 E in white for the logo, and blue as the surrounding, what I meant was to have 3 E in blue, and the surrounding in some other colour ( I just realized that white wouldn't work there ) .. sorry i wasn't clear on that ... or maybe have the 3 E not white ( silver / beige came into mind) would make it stand out more ...

Unfortunately, with it being a font, it is a cutout; meaning it is a white cutout no matter what...the only thing that can be done is placing effects on it to make it stronger.

I could probably make the same effect using shapes and what not for the logo, but I don't think a different interior color will look good at all.

Just my $0.02.

Here are some slight changes....textualized the links and expanded the main graphic to the top right and faded it out to the left.

The navigation bar is fully customisable ( pure text no image, only the bullet which you can add manualy each time you add a link ). On the left bar, you can add anything, maybe a "domain" search, or maybe "your services list"

Hi everyone.. I know I haven't posted comments for awhile. But here are the final changes I would request, and I'll announce the winner after that.

- Xterior :
1. In template 3 , for the bottom left , we'd like to use just option 2 (ie. the search isn't necessary at that place)
2. Can you make the white bar between top and center image a bit thinner ..
3. Can the 'middle logo' include the character E, ie 3E instead of just 3. If it can't be changed, don't worry about it

- Lang :
1. Can you make the pillars a bit smaller in terms of height ? (it just looks a bit squished)
2. Similaly, the fonts for effective, efficient, excellent and 3evision under the pillars are too big
3. The color bar on the bottom of the sentence 'the phrase that pays...' .. can you use full color instead of shading ?

- koolbrian :
1. I love the second design, but feel something's still missing. Can you leave the header, but play around with the body and footer for design / layout ?
2. The first design: top part a bit too 'white' and plain.

Darrick, to be honest I'm really not sure where to go (what direction) with your comments so respectfully, I won't be submitting a revision. If you could be more specific with what's wrong with my design, I'd be happy to give it another shot. Personally I think it's the best design I've ever done, but that doesn't matter now does it :D

A designer should feel that way about every design they do, IMO.

If I don't think a design I have done is the best to-date, I usually don't show it to anyone...even my biggest critic (my girlfriend).

palmer.. I understand that it's hard to change anything with the comments I posted :) my apologies for that.. . it's just weird knowing that something has to change but not knowing which or what ... I'd just suggest:
- Change some of the fonts , especially for the headers
- Add some other colour, and modify the headers to minimize the dots and vertical stripes

sorry for sounding so vague... but that's the best I can come up with. And we'll pick the winners only after viewing everybody's final changes. So it does matter, and I would love to have your design in there to choose from

I really don't like the addition of the "e" to the centerpiece, but wanted to place it there to show you in case YOU do like how it looks.

Personally I think it throws off the balance of the design, but what I think doesn't really matter.

OT : I went to Maui for vacation once (spent 1/2 a year in Honolulu studying at HPU.. went to maui on spring break).. really nice place :) ... did you go there on business or pleasure ?
