Hi all, My family has plans to put out paper box flyers in community paperboxes over the next few months asking neighbors in our town and surrounding towns to leave donations out for two community charaties. One is HAWS - the Humane Animal Welfare society of Waukesha Wisconsin. The second is just down the road from where I live and is called Horses Have Hope. I'd like to create a simple, encouraging flyer that asks neighbors to buy a little extra at their next shopping trip. I think it will be a selling point that volunteers will pick it up- they just have to set a bag out for us on a certain date. Preferrably both charaties on one flyer, that can be printed on 1/2 a sheet of paper (more likely to get put up on a fridge and remembered)- but this is probably not possible(?). Colors are great.
Haws takes in all small animals, and their wish list includes things like kleenx, cleaners, rawhide chews, cat litter, etc (listed at http://www.hawspets.org/WishList.html). They are VERY picky, so I have to avoid including pictures of anything they don't want (plastic toys, bones of any kind) and they ask for new items mostly. We are asking those who want to donate to leave the items in a grocery bag behind the mailbox for pickup on the specified date and time. The only ideas I've had are an animal holding a grocery bag full of stuff.
Horses have hope cares for abused and neglected horses from all over. They are in constant need for horse care supplies and will take almost anything as long as it is not "junk". Examples are grooming supplies, vaseline, fly repellent & masks, treats, vitamins, hoof conditioner, antiseptic etc (http://www.horseshavehope.org/hhh_needlist.htm).
Both places have logos that could be included, but they are not needed - they are well known in the community and I'm more looking to grab attentional and get the date memorable (date/time will vary per area, so it'll have to be added as printed).
I welcome ideas as well as designs. I'm aiming at end of August, when people start selling their horses and have extra supplies on hand, but I'd like to get the flyers made sooner than that so we can start planning routes and pickup schedules - and possibly even hand out flyers in my dog costume at the community fair (Last week in July). Thanks!
