(Admin code added by Palmer - 082583P)
dotcomprofitcenter.com will be a site dedicated to showing people different ways to make money online. Items featured will be everything from how to run affiliate programs to how to start your own e-commerce to how to purchase marketing courses online (as well as many other ideas).
I need a cool template in two forms. My concept is as follows, but I am open to other interpretations. YOU are the designers. Do what YOU think will make me choose your entry!
1) Main page - top header w/graphic and title. Probably around 250 pixels high, more or less, across the page. Think MAKING MONEY. May want to include people, photos of cash, workers.. whatever you think. Subtitle is "Your guide to making money online", or something better if you can come up with it. Three column approach underneath the main header. Left column will be links to each page that contains further description of various programs available, probably 150-200 wide. Middle column will be the widest, providing general info on making money online and perhaps spotlighted programs. Right column should be 150 pixels wide and will contain banners and buttons for ads.
2) Subpages - we can keep the same header across the top, but we need to include a prominent button or graphic that takes them back to the home page. One column underneath is fine as each program and/or offer will have its own page with details.
Finally, it will need a logo image, likely based on the header that can be placed in a 120 x90 button for promotion on other sites.
I'd like to see preliminary designs over the next week and probably decide on a final design at the end of week 2.
Feel free to bend and massage my constraints. Eager to see what you folks come up with!
Joel

Both please!

Are you sure you want a header as large as 250 pixels? On a 800x600 monitor, that'll take up almost half the screen. :P

nice design right out of the box, Lang! For the top graphic, perhaps replace the pile of coins with something computer-related... web browser, pc, something to tie the cash to the online component. I have no other comments right now. Let me see what others come up with and that might help me fine tune your design.
Thanks!

I might have one, depends on if I can complete something tonight; cause after that I am gone until July 8th.

Finally got a little time to work on this one. I hope you like it. Let me know if the home link on the top is too large and I'll make it smaller. You did say you wanted it to be prominent. :D

Hi Ant,
I like the "less is more" look, but not crazy about the color scheme. I guess I also had "big eyes" when I said to make the header so large... image looks good, but it is too darn big. If you want to try again, you are welcome to do so.
Thanks,
Joel

xteriormotive,
(great avatar...)
I see what you are going for, but its very .... ummm... dark. Think "opportunity". It needs to be attention getting. As I mentioned in previous post, I probably said to make the header too big... I see now that it doesn't work. The layout is effective. I don't want a ton of links.. it is going to be a site focused on a few programs that work rather than a bunch. Want to give it another go?
Thanks,
Joel

Still open and waiting on several people who mentioned they were going to enter. I'll close first-time entries off on Wednesday evening. Revisions will come over the following few days. Would like to select a winner on July 7th at the latest.
Thanks!
Joel
Hi Joel,
Here is my entry. I was trying for something that would convey business/money yet also be warm, fun and bright.
The navigation will all be text based and controlled by CSS - making it very easy to maintain yourself.
Comments welcomed. :)

Hi Zoe,
Thanks for the entry! I think "green" is good with this kind of site, for obvious reasons. I like the mix with orange/peach as well. I would like to see a different secondary color just to compare it to something else. The face is good, but I think we need a man there... or perhaps one of each. There are plenty of "money" pictures, but I think we need an image related to technology... someone sitting at their pc or something similar. It makes the connection that they will make money sitting on their can doin' nuttin. ;-) nice work. Let's see what a little fine tuning does.
Thanks!
Joel
p.S. - two more days for first-time entries!
Hi Joel
I have made some changes to the template by adding some different photos. Whilst adding the photos I played with the colour scheme. Please note that you can choose any photo to go in any colour scheme and can also choose different colours for the site if this layout design is your chosen winner. :)
I have linked to the three designs rather than post them here

Ok I decreased the size of the header per your request and also tried out a couple other color schemes. Colors can also be easily changed based on your input. If you want anything else changed just let me know and I'll try to update it one more time.

Thanks Zoe and Ant... you can both stop there. If I select yours, we'll make minor adjustments at that time. I am just waiting to see if any others have an entry.

I'm still trying to find the time. I'm trying to finish up coding a template that isn't cooperating at the moment and tomorrow is a busy day as well. I will try though...

Stop the presses!
The last couple entries are good, but I think I have narrowed it down to TWO finalists. I am having a VERY hard time choosing between Lang and Demex. So if you two could duke it out here over the next couple days, that would be great.
Lang - it is not obvious that the name of the site is "dotcomprofitcenter.com". Perhaps swap the site name text with Your Guide to Making Money Online, or try something else to correct that.
Zoe - I like the photo of the man and woman in front of the notebook pc. I am having trouble getting a handle on the color schemes. Not sure how to resolve that. Also, could you put a couple ads in the placeholders on the right side so it has a more complete feel?
If y'all can manage these changes over the next 48 hours, I'd be happy to select a winner asap.
Thanks to all who entered!
Joel
They say red draws attention to a picture, so I figured I'd go with that. :)
Image removed to save bandwidth.

Urgh... no. I think I'd rather see you change places where you have the text. Put the dotcom where it says Your Guide..., and vice-versa. K?

Thank you both very much. This is going to be a tough call. I'll get back with you as soon as I figure it out. You are BOTH worthy of victory on this one... unfortunately, there can only be one. I'm going off to ponder now.

We have a winner!
As I said, this was VERY difficult for me to judge, even to the point of wavering even as I type this message!
However, I have decided and am pleased to announce that Lang is the winner!
Congratulations :-)
We've got a couple MINOR adjustments to make, so email me at jcomm [at] worldvillage.com to discuss and finalize this site.
Thanks to all who entered.
