eBook Title: Beautiful You
Sub-heading: Comprehensive Beauty Tips for the 21st Century Woman.

Final Deliverable: 3D and flat version graphic approximately 420 pixels wide by 600 pixels high

Delivery medium: High Resolution jpeg file and Photoshop .PSD files with separate element layers intact.

The eBook called beautiful you. The audience are mainly females between the age of 16 to 65 of multiple races. The image we would like to portray is not one of sexy Hollywood glamour but one of wholesome natural beauty targeting middle America. For the cover image we would like you to select three to four females of varying age and race who have a wholesome quality look. You should select from African American, Asian, Hispanic and Middle America Kansas for potential models. (See model when you go to http://mail.yahoo.com and supplied images at http://www.freebeautytips.org/designoutpost/ as examples.)

The art should come from a copyright free source like clipart.com. or whatever copyright free art sources you may have available to you. I have downloaded some available art for you that you can use at http://www.freebeautytips.org/designoutpost/. Feel free to incorporate any of these copyright free graphics into your designs.

I have no real preference for color schemes other than it should appeal to women with a fashion sense. The eBook is meant to be fashionable and fun at the same time, so the book cover should reflect this theme.

Here are 3 bullet style sub-headlines you can also use on the front or back cover:

20 Makeup items every woman should own
Expert tips on creating perfect eyebrows
20 Healthy ways to lose weight.

Here would be my optimum design for this project:

1. In the background you would see a stack or multiple copies of the book
Example: http://www.killercovers.com/graphics2/examples/shapes/Multi_eBook.jpg

2. The book would have a nice classic design with an easy to read spine
Example: http://www.safetysurf.com/banners/internetsafetycover.jpg

3. The book should have some interest by having a reflection at the bottom or on a tilt.
Example: http://www.marketleadersltd.com/cbmall/15wayssmall.jpg (reflection)
Example: http://www.killercovers.com/graphics2/PDFBook_small_tilt.gif (tilt effect)

4. The book jacket might have a diagonal corner sub-headline as commonly seen on many real books.
Example: http://www.killercovers.com/graphics2/examples/swipe3.gif (See top right corner in red)

5. The book should show front and back covers with bar code and author's picture. Any copyright free woman will do.
Example: http://www.killercovers.com/graphics2/examples/shapes/Back.jpg

Thank you for immediately pursuing this project. I am available for any further clarification.

in what dpi should it be?
.., which parts would you like to have the layered version?
the flat version?
...i normally flatten the flat version before creating the 3d version..

Please do this project in 72dpi screen resolution. If you flatten the flat version then please save us an unflattened flat version and an unflattened 3D .psd file with the layers intact.

For several reasons, I will probably have to set this against a white background. I like what you are doing. Can we bring the stack of books tighter into the image with the larger picture, and set this against a white background?

Also you can use the name Kaitlyn Gibbons for the space where it says Author's name. I my spec. I also said we need both front and back covers along with the stack in the image.

You are definitely on the right track here.

..good to know that i'm on the right direction.. :)

thanks!

btw, what should we put for the back cover? i think there should be a lot of text..
and where is the photo? for back cover?

It should closely resemble this one:
http://www.killercovers.com/graphics2/examples/shapes/Back.jpg

1. It should have a bunch of text.
2. It should have a UPC code for the ISBN number
3. It should have some copyright free picture of some woman in her mid-thirties. I have never actually met in person the real author, but I know she is in her mid-thirties with red hair.

It looks like since noone else is playing with this job you are going to walk away with it if you meet the spec.

Thanks for playing.

I actually pictured her as a red head in a summer dress rather than a brunette in a heavy sweater but I guess dreams are for those who sleep.

Ok, the last step now is to put all the elements together. Lets try putting the front an back in a V formation and find some elegant way to introduce the stack into the picture.

I am a slight bit worried that in the really big versions we will see the "Loreum pluris datock ut enim". Some real text might have been better.

But let's put it all together and move you on to another project. Remember I need a clean white background to put this all in. The grey patterns look cool, but when I drop this into the various web pages I will need clean white.

Did I happen to mention that you have done a great job? I know we have no other takers on this job, but you probably would have won anyway. You have hit the mark everytime.

Now the other guys who didn't bid on this job didn't realize that I talk to hundreds (that actually might be closer to thousands) of Internet marketers needing graphic work every year. I am a highly recognized International speaker on Internet marketing. And like you, they would have had no idea that this is third time I have had this book cover designed in the last few days from different sources.

What I was actually trying to do here was try to teach a lesson about how to use Design Outpost and how to find talented designers. The smart guys would have done this work for me for free. In ten days from now I am going to teach a room (a very big room) full of people on how to create ebooks and other forms of Internet marketing. They will need people to design their book jackets for them and other website elements. But alas we only had Mr. Bogglins who had the decency to show up. Guess who I will be featuring and recommending in my class ;-)

Just in case you are curious, here are a couple of the other designs. These are just the front views.

So, let me highly recommend to you that you put your best talent forward on this job (not that you haven't already) and create an absolute show piece. I can just about guarantee that your work will not be in vain.

When we are all through here, just let me know the best way for my students to contact you.

Like I said earlier, let's put this all together and get you some more work.

Thanks for your effort so far. It's a shame that more people didn't show up, but hopefully they will read this post and realize in the future that Design Outpost is a place where big corporate dollars go hunting for talent. Even if they think the client is being cheap, you never know whether they are just testing work ethic.

Thanks again for playing.

Hi, nice to know about that.. :D

So, is this project now closed?
If so, I will move to the revisions step and combine/put together the designs as you mentioned in your last message...

Thanks!

Thank you graphicsguru for coming in at the last minute, but I will be awarding this job to Bogglins as he came in from the beginning and kept meeting the guidelines the whole time.

Palmer can now move this to the revisions section.

Thank you.

Hi, Thanks for choosing my design..
Please let me know what revisions that you want to be made...
and you're right that in the larger version, the copy/text (lorem ipsum) will be readable... so do you have something to replace that? or want to keep it like that?
Please advise..
thanks!

:)
Pieter

SkyCastles

Go ahead and text out ther profile information. Maybe you can add another beauty related graphic to the back so you don't have to make the rest of the text crazy large.

I haven't heard from you in awhile. Just turn the back cover into a 3 dimensional against a white background, send me the front cover 3-dimensional against a white background, and the multi-book version against a white background and we can call this quits. If Palmer hasn't paid you yet then go ahead and let him know I said it was alright.
