We are looking for a logo for Penrose, an open source virtual directory software. The price is $150, and the deadline is 8/27/2005.

What text should be included in the main part of the logo?

This is a logo for open source project. The project is located at http://penrose.safehaus.org. Ignore the existing logo, Penrose doesn't have anything to do with Rose. Penrose is lifted from Penrose triangle which conotates an impossible object. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penrose_triangle

How long have you been in business?
Non Applicable. This logo is for software/product

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
Provide consistent branding for both image and icon

Triangle. Directory server is usually represented as triangle shaped. Furthermore, the software is used to integrate multiple directory servers.

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
Virtual, Integration, Transformation, Aggregation

Here's my idea. I believe, your logo should not simply stick into triangular shape as what penrose-triangle image have - which is not unique anymore.
It should convey same concept but focus on what your company does - a Virtual Directory.
