Shoptivate is an innovative technology to help shoppers search an online store, quickly. We're just starting out, preparing to launch a beta with our first client around September 1.
Our direct clients are businesses who have online storefronts, but I'd like to build brand-name recognition among end users also.
Thus, in addition to a normal logo to represent the product/company based around the word "Shoptivate", I need a small version ("Powered by Shoptivate") that can go in the lower left corner of a website. (See http://scrapbook.shoptivate.com/) I consider the small version to be slightly more important than the main version. I'm thinking the small version should be no taller than 22 pixels.
I have no color preferences. I want to evoke "innovative" and "exciting" rather than formal, so I think the logo should include some bright colors. But the small version should work well on websites of various colors. It must look good on our first beta site (http://scrapbook.shoptivate.com/) for which the colors came from our client (http://store.scrapbook.com).
If you want to use concrete images, you could use things like a shopping cart, shopping basket, keyboard, mouse, or monitor, or anything else that had to do with computers or shopping. (During my brainstorming, I was thinking that if you took a shopping cart, elongated the basket part, and drew it in kind of a pencil-sketch manner, you could make it look like a cross between a shopping cart and a keyboard. But that may look ugly and I don't know how you would get it to look good at a height of 22 pixels.)
A good looking abstract logo would also be acceptable.
Personal taste: I love the Mozilla Firefox logo. (I don't know how that applies here.)
I've put a deadline of Aug 29th. We'd really like to have something when we start our beta test on Sep 1.
