ohloh will be a community web site for open source developers. The site itself is very simple with a white background and few graphics.

We would like a simple, somewhat playful logo. We are leaning towards lower case letters. We like orange :-), but will not insist on that color in the logo work. We also like the concept of emphasizing the "oh" on each side of the letter "l" in ohloh. Beyond those suggestions, we intend to rely on the creativity of the folks working on this project.

Hi Bill

Well, this is not quite the direction we wanted to go in. While the "shake" element could work for some things, I want to suggest a little more stability in the letters themselves and have the playfulness of the image work around that.

Thanks for the submission.

Hi Ruairi,

This is a great first cut at a logo. Here's what I like:
1. You humanize our image, which is super in the software business.
2. I love the general design of the face.

Here's a suggestion:
1. Could you work some more color into the non-text part of the logo? I think that would get the text to pop a a bit more.

Thanks,

Hi.

I've added some colors. What do you think?

On this one I reduced color intesity around the text to 40%.

Hi Ruairi,

I really like the one with the brighter contrasting colors. My suggestion would be to make the "ohloh" text more legible.

Thanks,

A couple from me....

Hi Relevant Studio,

I like the lettter treatment a lot. The joker logo, while well executed, is maybe a little too playful. Perhaps a more generic human logo or more abstract logo would be better.

Thanks!

A new one.

A new concept based on the same idea. I've tried to use a star shape for the head as well in the "O"'s. Usually stars are associated with quality and I believe open source is about quality.

I like the concept of the stars and I really like the changes. ohloh certainly pops more. I like the more star shaped "hair" on the logo. I would remove the stars in the "O"s and lighten the treatment of the "L" just a little bit.

Thanks!

I've tweaked the colors & fonts a little. I think having the ohLoh in the same color makes it stands out better.

Let me know your opinion.

Hey Mark!

Fabulous!!! The only suggestion I would make is could you darken the gray, upsidedown "ohloh" so that it is more legible? Also, it would be great to compare a couple of other fonts that you would find appropriate.

Thanks!
